Patti Davis, actress and youngest daughter of the late President Reagan gave Prince Harry some sage yet unsolicited advice ahead of the release of his memoir, "Spare." In an OpEd written for the New York Times, Davis, 70 cautioned the Duke of Sussex to be judicious with his candor.
"My justification in writing a book I now wish I hadn’t written…was very similar to what I understand to be Harry’s reasoning. I wanted to tell the truth, I wanted to set the record straight. Naïvely, I thought if I put my own feelings and my own truth out there for the world to read, my family might also come to understand
Agreed, OP. Patti seems to be developing some long-needed common sense in her senior years.

It's a little late to tell Harry to be quiet. He has slammed his family so badly and now he acts they should apologize to him.

I think the difference between Patty and Harry wanting to "get the truth out" is Patty didn't have MEGHAN standing over her shoulder nagging about everyone hating her! I think this whole mess falls on Meghan. Harry was perfectly happy until Meghan came along and told him he was unhappy. The stories of her being nasty to the Help and causing Two of them to quit and then was Rude to Kate's help which started the fight between the Brothers when Kate told her to leave her help alone and then William also told Meghan she was Rude. I believe she is the Wicked Witch of the West. She wants to be Queen and hates the fact that she never will be and that she has to curtsy to Kate! I would bet every single hateful thing Harry is said to have written came from Meghan telling him to write it. She won't be happy until the Royals are blown to smithereens!

I fear you are right, #9. Meaghan is so toxic, there is no telling where this might end. Patti’s wisdom and peace will never be Meaghan’s and Harry’s. Harry is being played and will end up very bitter and lost.

I'm glad Pity Patti is finally growing up - - at age 70.
Two ironies - -
#1 - - President Reagan's two biological children were huge disappointments - - but his adopted son has been a huge success.
#2 - - The wrong half of his marriage to Nancy gave up acting. She was a terrific actress - - and he was a mediocre actor. But it worked out well in the end - - because if he weren't a mediocre actor - - he never would have been a great president!

“My own truth”
There’s problem #1 right there. There is factual truth and there are lies and that’s it. Truth can’t be truth when it is something that someone wants or needs it to be, rather than what it really is.

I think there are subjective perceptions & variations of the one objective truth - not my truth, or your truth.
That said, silence is indeed golden when it comes to airing harmful opinions.
Harry has broken something far more important than a necklace, and much more difficult to repair.
I hope he realizes it and works toward Patti’s advice about being quiet, and does what he can to repair the damage in private.

Good for her and I agree with the advice she is offering Harry. I tend to differ with the her application of TRUTH which is so trendy. There is only one truth. There are varying impressions and feelings and motivations. Harry is such a self serving child.

I remember well how she (and to a lesser extent her brother Ron) went out of their way to humiliate both of their parents while her father was POTUS. It was every bit as vicious as what Harry and Meghan are doing now. I give her credit for admitting how wrong she was then and apologizing to her father even if it was later than it should have been.

With age comes wisdom. Patti Davis has learned over the years that just because she saw it that way, doesn't mean that is the way it really happened. Everyone thinks things occur from their point of view only. Only when you see the entire picture can you know the truth. Be quiet Harry. Your "truth" is irrelevant.

Patti was ahead of her time by putting her family business on display as a therapy session. Something that's done by almost everybody on social media today.

Harry's whining runs in thee family - see Diana's interview where she talked about the marriage and how there can't be room for three people.... Jackie Kennedy was supportive of Diana but after that interview airing all the dirt not supportive.
"And she disapproved of Di’s “disemboweling herself in public” over her marital troubles, said Onassis pal Oleg Cassini. “Mrs. Kennedy would never have done that. Jackie was of sterner stuff made.”
