Dave Portnoy: If Republicans try to ban

There’s no evidence yet that Roe’s imminent demise will flip many votes this fall. But if you’re looking for anecdotes, have I got the clip for you. I don’t blame you if you read the headline above and thought, “Who cares?” But conservatives have sometimes cared about Portnoy’s opinion, especially when he was ranting against lockdowns and raising money for shuttered businesses during the peak of COVID. He was also ahead of the game on Trumpism, writing two months after Trump entered the race in 2015 on his site, Barstool Sports, that he was all-in on MAGA.

If Mr. Portnoy is so obtuse that he doesn't understand that liberal states will always support their religion of murder than I can't get too worked up about his vote and otherwise "conservative" views.

It is going to be a state by state decision as whether to ban abortions or set the conditions under which they can be done. There will be a broad spectrum of results from a full ban to full allowance. The results will reflect the general nature of each state and may wobble a bit, due to political shifts, before settling down. If Portnoy doesn't like that and insists on HIS personal views for all of us, who cares what he thinks. He can vote as he pleases as all of us can and the results will be as the people wish.

What State does he live in? It makes a tiny bit of difference...maybe..., maybe ZERO. If he lives in Calif/NY/Mass/ or some other deep blue cesspool? None. If he lives in some solid red rock ribbed Repub state? None If he lives in a big deep blue city district even in a solid red state? None Only if he lives in a purple district of a key swing state will he make any difference at all...and even then ONLY if he thinks this one line item eclipses, Taxes, Freedom, Free Speech, Crime issues, Immigration issues, 2nd amendment issues, 1st amendment issues and actual DOES vote for a Dem.

The whole point of the decision is that instead of being so binary about it, you can weigh in on what exactly the law should be. Can pain killers be allowed so this is not so bad for the child? Can sale of parts be outlawed? Can aborting a living child then cutting it up be allowed? Third trimester abortions? Community standards are likely to vary and the point of the decision is, now your opinion matters.

If people would just be responsible, there would be very few abortions. Abortion is not and never should be a way of birth control. Take the pill, get sterilized but abortion isn't the way. I know of too many women who were cool and got an abortion. This was years ago and they are still not in a good place. After all, you are taking a life. It's not an oak tree growing inside of you.

Mr. Portnoy was an owner in NYC(?) where the dems ran the place. As I recall, his business suffered because of Covid and dems in NYC. Mr Portnoy will vote dem. Ah shucks. Go ahead looser. SCOTUS did not ban abortion. SCOTUS said that there is nothing in the US Constitution that makes law of abortion. The decision to have "legal" abortions is up to each State. Not the US government. A step in the right direction. Poor Mr. Portnoy. He sounds like the pubbies who voted for Biden because they were sick and tired of Trump's speech. Hope you are happly with your decision. Don’t these loud-mouth, clueless fools ever read (or learn about or understand) what these issues, decisions, bills and laws are all about? What they actually entail? What they do exactly? It certainly looks as if they do not. They rant and scream frenzied nonsense that makes no sense and does not relate to the true facts of these issues. They want to stir up their fellow Democrats/Leftists so they will burn and riot in a campaign of intimidation and threats against those who dare to disagree with them. It’s ‘their way’ - or else.

Isn't he the least bit aware that the democratic party leadership has been unable to pass a law codifying abortion as a federally protected right, then they have been caught by surprise and unprepared even though the Supreme Court has been deliberating this case for months. The democrats control the Senate and House plus there is a democrat in the White House, yet they have been unable to pass a law.
