Lucianne Goldberg died last week at the grand age of eighty-seven, and still the eponymous proprietrix of Lucianne.com, an early conservative news aggregator and one I continue to enjoy. A quarter-century ago, she became one of the most famous figures in America, as the confidante who persuaded Linda Tripp to tape her conversations with Monica Lewinsky and thus set in motion the impeachment of Bill Clinton. I can't claim to have been a close friend, but John Podhoretz's affectionate portrait accords with my own trio of brief interactions. She was tough, and she survived the Clintonites' efforts to destroy her, as she had survived the efforts of others

So far in 2022 the company has made almost $500 million in profits - and its stock rose more than 10 percent today after its earnings report.

Europe Is Transitioning - To Coal!

In Germany, they are tearing down a wind farm to make room for the expansion of an open pit lignite coal mine. Dismantling of wind turbines has already begun. Lignite is brown coal. It has been mined at the mine in question for well over a hundred years.
RWE, the German company that owns the mine has also announced that it is returning lignite-fired coal units that were previously on standby to service. Those plants came back online this month. (Snip) The demand for coal will reach a record high in 2022. The International Energy Agency has reported that coal use in Europe is up by seven percent in 2022.

It’s official. Rishi Sunak is the new prime minister of Great Britain. (Snip) But what about those who come to Jihad Watch, who want to know not so much about his economic plans as his views on Islam, Muslims, and Israel?
The first thing to note is that Sunak is not just Hindu by descent, but a seriously practicing Hindu. He chose to be sworn in as an MP on a copy of the Bhagavad Gita. As a practicing Hindu, and a well-educated man, he cannot help but know what the Muslim invasion and conquest of much of India meant for its indigenous Hindu inhabitants.
The “journalist” Bob Woodward is promoting his forthcoming audiobook The Trump Tapes just in time for the midterm elections. Earlier this week, he said he considers former President Donald Trump to be “dangerous” and a “threat to democracy” and a “threat to the presidency.”
Woodward ended his previous book on Trump by saying, “Trump is the wrong man for the job.” Let’s see how Trump stacks up against other presidents.

The difference between me and friends, cousins and children no longer speaking to me is that I think the left is evil. By which I mean, malignant, without the best interests of the ordinary man and woman at heart and filled with hate for normal, the good, the sane. There is a brooding aspect to this fall, as if everyone is on alert and evil walks among us. Darkness roils under the surface as people sicken and die, no one knows why, and the super-culture ignores it. (Snip) Last week, a doctor in Canada, highly credentialed, a Scot trained at Cambridge, his career a series of glittering positions, Roger Hodkinson, announced that, world-wide there have been 20 million deaths from the shots, and two billion adverse effects. This isa set of numbers that pulls focus away from the proliferation of evidence, the deliberate confusion of evidence, to this point: democide.
No blood, no gulags, no battlefields, but still the same.

The D.C. Council is expected to take the first of two votes Tuesday on a massive rewrite of its criminal code. If passed, the bill would eliminate most mandatory minimum sentences, allow for jury trials in almost all misdemeanor cases and reduce the maximum penalties for offenses such as burglaries, carjackings and robberies.
Assume that there’ll be a lot more burglaries, carjackings and robberies.
Not to mention public urination.

Liz Cheney praised House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a "tremendous leader" during an interview on Tuesday, just over a week before the Midterm Elections when Cheney’s replacement will be selected. "I want to say a word about Speaker Pelosi. Everyone knows she is a liberal from San Francisco [and] I am a conservative from Wyoming, there are many, many issues, maybe most issues, on which we disagree. But I think that she is a tremendous leader," Cheney said at the City Club in Cleveland with PBS’s Judy Woodruff.
"I’ve watched her up close. She is a leader of historic consequence," the Republican added.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), who lost her primary for reelection this year, has endorsed Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) against Republican J.D. Vance in Ohio’s United States Senate race.
During a panel discussion with PBS NewsHour’s Judy Woodruff, Cheney was asked if she would support Vance against Ryan in the Ohio Senate race, to which she responded, “I would not vote for J.D. Vance.”
“So if you were a Buckeye State voter, you’d be voting for Tim Ryan?” Woodruff asked. Cheney responded, saying “I would.”
Cheney also called House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) a “tremendous leader” and “a leader of historic consequence.”

PBS took the democracy is in danger hysteria to new levels on Tuesday’s Amanpour and Company as Hari Sreenivasan interviewed Prof. Barbara F. Walter to inquire on just how close the United States is to another civil war. Walter, who wrote the book How Civil Wars Start, warned that all the pieces are in place for “Christian” “white men” to start one.
Sreenivasan began by accepting the premise that a civil war could break out and asked, “You have studied several types of societies who have been on the brink of, who've been in the middle of, a civil war, who've been after, who've survived after one.

Apparently, the San Francisco home of Paul and Nancy Pelosi has real time CCTV security remotely monitored by the Capitol Hill Police.
However, as the story is told, during the attack on Paul Pelosi, no one was watching the CCTV monitors. But it does appear there is a recording.(snip)According to sources, an officer was monitoring the feeds and saw police lights on a dark street outside the Pelosi’s residence. When going through surveillance footage, the officer saw the alleged attack on Oct. 28, when DePape allegedly struck Paul Pelosi, people briefed on the incident said, according to the report. President Biden will deliver remarks on "preserving and protecting our democracy" at a Democratic National Committee event in Washington, D.C., White House officials and the DNC said Wednesday. The president is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. ET at the Columbus Club in Union Station, where he will address "the threat of election deniers and those who seek to undermine faith in voting and democracy," according to a DNC advisory. White House senior adviser Anita Dunn and Deputy Chief of Staff Jen O'Malley Dillon announced the president's impending remarks at an Axios event Wednesday morning.
