Despite persistent efforts led by the Biden administration, House Democrats' Jan. 6 tribunal and allied media to paint former President Trump as authoritarian, nearly as many Americans view President Biden as a threat to democracy as they do Trump, according to a new poll — and the mainstream media itself looms as the most widely feared threat to American democracy. The stunning results from the latest New York Times/Siena poll of registered voters follow a range of recent polling suggesting that by seeking to investigate, prosecute, and stigmatize their political opponents as anti-democratic "extremists," Biden and other Democrats are arousing fears among voters that it is they themselves who are acting

"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost." Thomas Jefferson The problem is that we don't have a "free press". Ours is not constrained by governmental authority, which is what this quote is about. However, he never foresaw that the "free press" would limit itself, which is what our biased, lying, authoritarian "free press" has done to itself. It is lost.

Right #2! We have "corporate press", which is not what was intended. All information disseminated at discretion of very few people.

For those who think fake news is something new, Google “Thomas Jefferson newspaper quotes”. One of my favorites: “… the man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.” ⁃ Thomas Jefferson

I have said for years that real enemy of this country is the media. We wouldn’t be suffering under Biden now if the media had covered Hunter’s laptop properly. If they had objectively covered Dem candidates over the last 50 years, we wouldn’t have the multitude of fools criminals and communists infesting Congress now.

yeah, well, I first noticed the bias when Nixon was POTUS, Ford got no respect, Carter got decent press even during stagflation, Reagan was a dunce and going to start WWIII, they lied about HW Bush's economy, Clinton was God's gift, W was a moron, 0 was God's gift II, Trump was a dunce and going to star WWIII, and they ignore the bidet's senility and incompetence. THANK YOU President Trump. He dragged the media out of its hidey hole and exposed them for what they truly are, evil and dangerous. Many Americans failed to see how terrible the media has become and even if they questioned the media positions, they thought they were only "misguided". No, the media KNOWS what it is doing. They are propagandists for the Left and work hand in hand with the Deep State to promote lies and the Leftist agenda and to protect the Left from culpability and legal consequences for their actions. We are right to fear the media and to shun it.

The Media is a direct threat to only half of America. The other half is perfectly okay with slanted news as it supports their own bigotry. What is really troubling is that there are still so-called Republicans who go on CNN, MSNBC, the regular t.v. channels, give interviews to the Washington Post, The NY Times, etc. looking for approval --- which will never come. No real conservative reads these newspapers or watches/listens to these stations.

To add some historical context to #4's quote: Newspapers were the only mass media for most of history. They were run by political parties as a way to get their point-of-view across. Some of the oldest papers in the country still have names like "Whig", "Democrat", "Independent" in their names, because that's the party that founded them. People who read them knew what side of the story they were getting; it's why having subscriptions to multiple papers used to be a thing. It's only recently that newspapers claimed to be "fair" in their coverage. It was always there, but they used to be honest about it.

Google long ago ceased being a way to find different answers and its search results are deliberately repetitive. Search is an illusion. The Republican National Committee (RNC) has launched 73 lawsuits on election integrity issues in 20 states during the 2022 midterm election cycle, an increase from 2020 that has already secured GOP victories in battleground states this year. The scope of the legal challenges stretches from the rights of poll watchers to observe the counting of votes to the illegal counting of mismarked absentee ballots. This aggressive legal approach is an effort to meet RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel's vision of making this cycle the RNC’s "most litigious," according to an RNC spokesperson. The strategy includes offense-minded lawsuits, such as suing Democratic secretaries of state and challenging Democrat-friendly election laws,

This week, President Biden suggested that the federal government has engaged in racial discrimination with respect to sentencing people for marijuana possession. “Sending people to jail for possessing marijuana has upended too many lives.... One of the core strengths of the late, great, sorely missed, Rush Limbaugh was his ability and willingness to constantly reground his listeners concerning basic truths. We tend to forget basics in the heat of political battle, usually to the detriment of conservative causes and candidates. An excellent current example of this has to do with polling. I cannot believe how many conservative pundits, radio/podcast hosts and writers react to polls early in the season with dismay or even panic. “Beto is within three points of Abbot!” “Fetterman up seven over Oz? How can that be?” The answer is: you’re right, it can't be. It isn't true.

Critics say the new laws will create an “ideological purity test,” preventing some conservatives and Christians from joining already-strapped police forces. Newsom on Sept. 30 signed AB 655, which bars Californians who previously had been members of a “hate group” or involved in “hate group activity” (in the past seven years) from police service. It remains unclear when the law will go into effect.
