Incumbent Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski is in danger of losing the seat she has held for two decades to a challenger from her own party backed by former President Trump. A Republican has roughly a 99% chance to win next month's Alaska senate election, with Republican challenger Kelly C. Tshibaka considered mostly likely to emerge with the victory at 53%, according to election forecaster FiveThirtyEight. Tshibaka, a Trump-backed Republican challenger who previously served as a commissioner of the Alaska Department of Administration, is currently locked in a tight battle with Murkowski after the incumbent senator generated controversy by supporting the impeachment of former President Trump

Comments:

And since McConnell has been channeling campaign funds to Murkowski, Tschibaka will owe him nothing.

I think the Post Turtle is reading the tea leaves and seeing that the RINOs are losing to PATRIOTS and if too many RINOs lose, he loses his Speakership, so he's doing everything he can to sabotage PATRIOTS. I think he and Kevin McCarthy are long past their sell by dates!

There is a democrat on the ballot, I think, who attracted 14 percent in the rank chiice second round. Are Tshibaka supporters smart to rank choice the dem? Or, could that tactic backfire and elect the dem?

Mitch "MultiUseless" McConnell despises DJT and will go to great lengths to insure that Lisa " Bridge To Nowhere" Murkowski maintains her high status in the RINO Hall Of Fame. "MultiUseless" has a soundless bark when Chuck Schumer allows it. Chuck keeps him on a short leash.

Too bad I can't rank Tshibaka as my first, second, third, and fourth choice. We have a school board election here where we have four places to fill. The school district elects all the members at large and gives you four votes. You can use all four votes for the same person, or divide them up among the candidates.

Alaska has to get rid of their ranked choice system. In this race the two Republicans could split the vote and the Dem could end up winning. The ranked choice system helps Dems - get rid of it.

Republicans feel about Murkowski like dems feel about Manchin, they are odd ducks and mess up party goals. Manchin got what he deserved when he caved to Chuckie, who lied to him and betrayed him in with typical smarmy dem double talk. Effectively Chuckie made a worthless promise and Manchin got zip for his flip. Hopefully he will be GONE in 2026. Of course Murkowski is always questioning Republican goals without valid purpose and it will be a delight to see her gone, in spite of the voting being rigged by ranked voting. It has been sickening to see her struggling with fake "moral dilemmas" when important issues are on the line.

Top 10 Scapegoats If Democrats Lose the Midterms 21 replies

Journalists and other left-wing activists are freaking out over a New York Times poll that shows Republicans leading Democrats by 4 percentage points among likely voters ahead of next month's midterm elections. They were particularly aggrieved by the poll's finding that Republicans were tied with Democrats at 47 percent among female voters and were supported by 34 percent of Hispanic voters and 18 percent of black voters. Those are terrible numbers for Democrats. We don't know how the election is going to play out, but at least one thing is guaranteed: If Democrats lose, they are going to blame everyone but themselves for the outcome.

The Danchenko trial is the second out of Durham's years-long investigation, and the second time a jury delivered an acquittal. Former Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann was found not guilty of making false statements to the FBI in June.

The Consumer Price Index (CPI) released by the government last Thursday showed an 8.2% year-over-year price increase from September 2021 to September 2022. The CPI has edged down steadily from a 40-year high of 9.1% in June to 8.2% in September. The official CPI does not tell the whole story of price increases under President Biden. Bidenflation, measured by the TIPP CPI using the same underlying data, stood at 12.8% in September. It was 12.6% in August and July and12.7% in June. We developed the TIPP CPI, a metric that uses February 2021, the month after President Biden’s inauguration, as its base.

Economic concerns and "intense" disapproval of President Biden are giving Republicans an edge with independent voters in the upcoming election, according to recent polling from The New York Times. A NYT/Siena College poll found independent female voters in particular swung dramatically to the right in the past month, despite Democrats' focus on abortion rights. "In September, they favored Democrats by 14 points. Now, independent women backed Republicans by 18 points— a striking swing given the polarization of the American electorate and how intensely Democrats have focused on that group and on the threat Republicans pose to abortion rights," the paper reported.

In this age of hyper-partisanship and polarization, there is a dangerous trend in politics this election cycle: candidates refusing to face their opponents in debates. These candidates expect to win the job with no job interview. Their rationale? The organizations hosting the events are “partisan.” Some politicians are using this tiresome excuse to avoid answering tough questions and tackling issues that may be politically charged. Getting candidates on the record about issues and positions is integral to every debate and informs the voting public.
