Igor Danchenko, a primary contributor to the Trump-Russia dossier, has been acquitted of lying to the FBI regarding his sources for some claims in the document in a loss for special counsel John Durham. The jury declared the source, an analyst who compiled the bulk of the dossier drafted by former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele and which alleged collusion between former president Trump’s 2016 campaign and Moscow, not guilty on all four charges. Danchenko was accused of having made false statements regarding the sources of some information that he provided to a U.K. investigative firm in 2017 that was later passed to the FBI. Durham

Sure Danchenko lied. But in the jury's eyes it was for the right reasons. It was to cooperate with those in the FBI who wanted to destroy Donald Trump who threatened the out of control, behind the scenes career government bureaucrats who feel that they are the real power in the country.

Disappointed but not surprised. There is no justice in this country to be found anywhere near or in Washington DC. It seems to me that a change of venue for the trial would have been a hard fought battle. When the city is predominately democrat supporting, how could you expect any other verdict. These investigations are nothing more than political theater. How can you acquit someone who admitted he lied and was part of a democrat scheme to create a lie for the sole purpose of undermining a Presidential candidate? It makes no sense but when did Washington make sense. I honestly do not know how we can continue down this lawless road. The guilty go free and enjoy their cushy pensions while the J6th prisoners are held in horrific conditions without the benefit of their Constitutional rights. This, in your face, two tiered system of justice will destroy us. Equality under the law is a foundational principle that is being abandoned in favor of a system that chooses innocence or guilt according to their political philosophy. I can’t see a way to fix this. Too many people are invested in the status quo and do not want to confront this blatant corruption. What a waste of time and money. Durham turned out to be nothing more than an operative of the deep state. He did what he was tasked to do, investigate for a good long time which put a lot of money in his pocket, and then in the end, he protected the status quo. This is the sad state of justice in this country which is no justice at all.

As far as the Federal Bureau of Idiots (FBI) is concerned Danchenko was part of the plan to 'get Trump'. It worked out just fine with the D.C. jury. If Donald Trump runs and wins in 2024, he should move the nation's Capital to Florida and abandon the cesspool of Washington DC.

I think #11 has it about right - the FBI has so little/zero credibility that a liar lying to an organization lying about everything means zilch. Too bad Durham lacked the spin to top after the big guys aka Comey, Mueller, McCabe, Strzok, etc et al but like Bill Barr, etc - all part of the swap.

Durham knew he would lose in DC. Instead, he tried the case to expose the deep level of corruption in the FBI. Sadly, the MSM didn't pick up on it. (Shock) I'm not sure he's done yet. Just brought a RICO trained lawyer onto his team. That's the only way to get the big rats. Not holding my breath though.

I haven’t seen any justification for the acquittal. What I think the trial showed is that the guy lied to the FBI, but the FBI knew the guy was lying and didn’t care. Therefore; it’s not really lying at all.

I haven't followed this very closely and the jury pool may have been biased because of its locale, but I have to wonder, then, if an attempt to make him the fall guy failed. If the FBI knew he was lying to them and ran with it anyway, why was this guy being singled out? By being acquitted, then it it's reasonable to assume that the FBI knowingly promoted a thoroughly discredited dossier itself. He's off the hook, they're not.

The modern Republican Party's one non-negotiable value is this: the ruthless pursuit of power. Party leaders who recognize this prosper while those who hold principle over political advancement get swept away. The latest Republican rising star to learn this lesson is Glenn Youngkin. A year ago, pundits were praising Virginia's governor for finding a way to win a blue state while keeping ex-President Donald Trump at arm's length and for creating a Republican campaign blueprint not based on outright election denialism.
