Two people were shot outside the Long Island home of Representative Lee Zeldin on Sunday while his 16-year-old daughters were home alone, the GOP New York gubernatorial candidate said Sunday. “My 16-year-old daughters, Mikayla and Arianna, were at our house doing homework, while my wife, Diana, and I were in the car, having just departed the Bronx Columbus Day Parade in Morris Park,” Zeldin said in a statement. He continued: “After my daughters heard the gunshots and the screaming, they ran upstairs, locked themselves in the bathroom and immediately called 911. They acted very swiftly and smartly every step of the way and Diana and I are extremely proud of them.”

The 'tolerant' left, poopy-pants gave them their marching orders and the deranged are following through. FTA: A law-enforcement source told the New York Post that the shooting had “nothing to do with him” and “just happens to be irony” that the shooting happened in front of the home of the gubernatorial candidate, who is campaigning as tough on crime. Detectives are investigating the shooting as gang-related, sources reportedly told the paper. BS?

First some kook comes at him during a speech to kill him, and then he gets out almost scot-free for the life-threatening assault, and now THIS. Zeldin is not going to be turned away so easily, if this were politically motivated. Pray for him and his family for a hedge of protection around them!

The shooters and victims could very easily be of the LatinX variety the National Review says we need to import in order to keep wages as low as possible, thus maximizing corporate profits.

NY Times: How California's high speed
rail project became a 'loser'

The very short answer, as revealed in this story published yesterday by the NY Times, is politics. The attempt to build the first bullet train in the US between San Francisco and Los Angeles almost immediately turned into a boondoggle thanks to decisions that made no sense in terms of efficiency or ridership but only in terms of satisfying powerful politicians. The design for the nation’s most ambitious infrastructure project was never based on the easiest or most direct route. Instead, the train’s path out of Los Angeles was diverted across a second mountain range to the rapidly growing suburbs of the Mojave Desert

More than 20 states have begun deploying military troops to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist federal agents responding to the border crisis since President Joe Biden took office. National Guard soldiers will be deployed on 400-day deployments, bringing them back home before Thanksgiving 2023. The deployments were at the request of the federal government, though the Biden administration has made no public announcement about soliciting military help from states.

I wasn’t sure what to expect in the debate between Democrat Rep. Tim Ryan and political newcomer J.D. Vance in the campaign for the open Senate seat in Ohio. Ryan, who has been in Congress for nearly 20 years, has decades of debates under his belt, so I wondered if Vance would be able to keep up. I needn’t have worried. Not only was Vance well prepared for the debate, but he landed blow after blow after blow against Ryan, portraying him as an out-of-touch liberal who takes his marching order from the radical left—at the expense of his constituents in the state’s Rust Belt. Ryan was stiff

During a portion of an interview with CBS News aired on Monday’s edition of “Red and Blue,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) warned that while abortion is an important issue, Democrats “have got to do more” on the economy, because “Poll after poll shows what everybody understands to be true, working people are hurting. They’re worried about the economy. They’re worried about inflation.” He also said that Democrats “have an outside shot of winning the House.” Sanders said, “I think the Democrats have a very good chance of [keeping control of] the Senate. We have an outside shot of winning the House. But
Are we headed for a rail strike after all? 3 replies

A month ago it seemed we were headed for a major rail strike as unions were holding out against a labor contract that included a 24% raise. Amtrak even started canceling trains in expectation of the strike but then, at the last moment, unions accepted a deal. The tentative deal — confirmed by a group representing freight rail operators — still faces several steps before it is formally ratified. The unions must still vote on it, but the White House’s blessing of the new terms suggests that the worker groups have been closely involved. Often, the next step of the process can take several weeks, but

Nikki Finke, the veteran entertainment journalist who founded Deadline in 2006 and helped grow it into a major player among Hollywood trades, died Sunday morning in Boca Raton, FL after a prolonged illness. She was 68. The famously reclusive Finke founded her site as Deadline Hollywood Daily, the 24/7 Internet version of her long-running print column “Deadline Hollywood” for LA Weekly. She posted firsthand accounts of how she saw the entertainment business and was unfazed about dressing down its biggest players. Her often biting, acerbic posts called out wrongdoing and wrongdoers as she saw fit — making her a hero to many assistants and below-the-liners while irking many

Crass responses to the energy crisis may be the one thing we won’t run out of this year. Nostalgia for ice on the inside of windows is so popular it might make the John Lewis Christmas ad, while determinedly cheery tips on keeping mould at bay or dealing with silverfish and plaster beetles are depressing beyond

Polls infamously don’t tell the whole story regarding an election. They’re effectively using a sample of people to gauge the voting population’s mood before they head to the voting booth to pull the lever. One trusted pollster who tends to get it right more than others is sounding the alarm that polls during the midterm election season are a bit off and is warning Democrats, in particular, that their leads in many polls aren’t as strong as they may think. According to the Daily Wire, Trafalgar group founder and senior strategist Robert Cahaly sat down with the site’s new show “Election Wire,” where Cahaly noted that Republicans are being severely underrepresented

Speaking at a security council meeting, Putin called the Kerch bridge blast a “terrorist attack aimed at the destruction of civil critical important infrastructure of Russia.” Ukraine has not yet claimed responsibility. A massive explosion on Saturday heavily damaged a bridge which Russia relied upon for transporting military supplies to Crimea, cutting off a critical route and dealing a major setback to Putin’s war effort in Ukraine. Putin opened the bridge in 2018 in a gesture meant to signify Russia’s ownership of Crimea,

In early August, we asked Americans: “Some people are concerned about President Biden’s mental health. How concerned are you about President Biden’s mental health?” At the time, a number of public displays of unsteadiness, confusion, and verbal gaffes seen in the media suggested to many that the nation’s commander-in-chief’s mental acuity was questionable.

The Democrat media, in conjunction with their allies in the polling industry, have driven the false narrative that the Democrats are likely to defy both history and their historically awful record and do fairly well in the midterms, particularly in Senate races. To borrow a word from Mr. 10%, this has always been malarkey. We go through this same dance every cycle where the polls miraculously start to shift towards the Republicans in the last month, as polling outfits grudgingly start moving towards something resembling reality to avoid copious amounts of eggs on their face. In a move sure to raise a few eyebrows, Colorado has “accidentally” sent out 30,000 voter registration cards to non-citizens. That’s according to a report from Colorado Public Radio. According to the outlet, the 30,000 cards were sent to non-citizens because of a mix-up with the formatting of the query involving DMV records. In Colorado, illegal immigrants are able to obtain a driver’s license, which was apparently the nexus of the issue. The postcards were mailed to residents last week who had non-citizen Colorado driver’s licenses. The state sends postcards every two years to Coloradans it believes are eligible to vote but not yet registered.
