German Federal Economy Minister Robert Habeck expressed concern over the looming energy crisis this winter, telling German media that the situation was extremely tense and there is a possibility that Germany may run out of gas. Habeck spoke on Friday, appealing to Germans to reduce their consumption of natural gas ahead of this winter a day after the German government launched a new price break programme to help Germans with the rising costs of energy. The new price break policy will cover 80 per cent of regular consumption in a bid to try and get Germans to use less gas and make the scenario of shortages less likely.

Why don't they fire up their nuclear plants or are they too frozen in "Wokeness"?

When we were in Germany this summer, they told us dealers had run out of coal and wood stoves.

Idiots, the world is full of idiots and people are going to die. However, the greenie elites will be warm, and fed and happy through this winter. It's time to tell these people in Nov. what we think of this insane suicide pact they have made. We need to make use of any and all energy that actually works now, today. All of the above energy which can be replaced, upgraded, improved in the future as technology advances. Until then use what you have and keep researching. For anyone to have to worry about heat during the winter or their food supply is sinful but it is upon us. Famine and a cold death, in the 13th century maybe but not now. This is a manmade crisis and it is time to tell those people to f - off. Power, control, money, pure evil.

Maybe they should NOT have laughed at Trump when he warned them at the UN. They sure look like idiots now don't they?

Why not just run on sun and wind as the poster says? And of course rainbows. And surely they can run the country on Green Self-righteousness.

Trump warned these fools not to count on Russia and they giggled about it like a bunch of girls. Who’s laughing now?

Left wing politicians have been pushing the Green nonsense for more than thirty years. When will enough people tune ("Thune") them out? The Germans wanted to go Green. Now they're going to get Green--good and hard. Will America wake up before the power starts going out in places other than California? Green is dead. End it for the good of humanity, and, ironically, for the good of the earth.

Why doesn’t Germany’s Parliament simply declare that the sun will shine and extra 4 hairs a day each day this winter and that the wind will always blow between 12 and 20 MPH? Would solve all of their self imposed problems. Or, pass a law rant solar panels and windmills produce an extra 35% of electricity no matter if Germany’s dismal winter weather blocks the sun or the wind doesn’t blow or blow too hard. Going green will eventually turn Germans blue.
The natural gas shortage or even cutoff will have an incredibly negative impact on German factories and offices, followed by restaurants, bakeries and public places that require nat gas for heating and/or cooking. Nat gas for home heating, hot water and dryers will feel the cold only after commercial users are shut off.

Israel is ramping up production of LNG so go get some. Norway has a new pipeline running to Europe, so quit with the fear-mongering. Let us know how those windmills and solar panels are working out. Ohhhh here is a brilliant idea... build some nuclear reactors to generate electricity. Might help a little.

Re #12, nothing much is going to get built that starts in October for this winter. What wasn't already started long ago won't be done in time.

If I was there, and had a wood stove or fire place, I'd be looking for used pallets. Often these are discarded, and frequently, at least here in the USA, made of oak or other hardwood. A stack of pallets, or better yet, broken down to boards for compactness, could make a big difference if things get as bad as they seem to be predicting.

If I read the article correctly, the first 80% of my gas consumption will be subsidized, and I need to pay full price on the remaining 80%. And this is supposed to keep me from consuming more? For me, if anything, it would have the opposite effect since I am getting a freebie with the first 80%.

I well remember the video of the Germans smirking at Trump when he warned them about this at the U.N.
(The American "journalists" chimed in, it shouldn't be forgotten.)
I wonder if the Germans will be upset enough to vote in different leadership. Maybe not. Maybe they'll be too frozen to get to the polls.

Why would they need natural gas? Germany went loud and proud Green years ago, and now runs on 100% sustainable wind and solar.
