A dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. Americans are paying higher prices for everything from groceries to gas. The consumer price index, which measures what consumers spend on goods and services, rose 8.3% in August from a year ago. With wages lagging surging inflation, household budgets are being stretched thinner than a rubber band. More than one-third of Americans said it was somewhat or very difficult to pay for household expenses, according to a recent U.S. Census Bureau survey. Savings are dwindling and credit card debt is mounting. To get by, people are cutting back on meat for dinner and on nights out. Even kids are going without

Democrats are for the people. So I make a good amount of money but not rich. If I fill my F150 and get a load of groceries, its $120 for the truck and now about $150 for groceries. Four bags. Thats $270. It hurts me. Doesnt it just crush those who make half or a third of what nI make. They are the people who den= mocrats say they are for. Just like the people who ate their pets and zoo animals in Vnezuela

The taxpayers should come together and cut the elected official's benefits in half until they can dig themselves out of the hole to improve our economy.

My daughter is talking about going back to work. Her husband makes good money, he’s a LEO, and she has stayed home for the kids because his schedule is so erratic. A year ago they were fine. Now they are not, and it is directly because of the increase in gasoline and food. A personal example - fourteen months ago I paid $38 for 30# of a particular kind of dog food. Last May I paid $54. Last week I bought the same 30# of dog food for $85. All purchased online from the same company. Who can afford that magnitude of increase?! This will get very bad if prices don’t level off.

A waitress that I have gotten to know at a restaurant where I eat regularly works in the restaurant as a waitress. Then works several hours afterwards to make and bake their pies. She gets off about 10 pm and then goes to her other job, where she bakes bread and pastries for a large grocery store until dawn. Home to sleep a bit, start at the restaurant waiting tables again the next afternoon. She's a wonderful, nice, strong lady, raising kids. I make sure she gets a large tip every time I have her as my waitress. Lots of people struggle, and it has always been the case. But the Dems make it so much harder than it needs to be on them. Trump was making things easier on everyone, especially so for the working class folks. Now the Dems are wrecking it, intentionally.

These stories pale next to those who lived the Great Depression. Yes, times are tough, and many folks need to economize. My family has always been thrifty, living below our means and saving for the future and that "rainy day" we all encounter. That ethic was taught by parents, one who sold newspapers earning a penny on every two sold - the proceeds going to the family dinner table, and the other who went barefoot to save shoe leather, eating a diet primarily of home-grown tomatoes and noodles. My mother had to drop out of school when the family could no longer afford the fifty cents a month for transportation into town. Government spending and economic mismanagement brought us here, with plenty of bipartisan blame to go around. And yet there are many "real conservatives" who think government should do more...like it hasn't done enough already. Markets work best when uncorrupted by various manipulations. But, then, we're all socialists now. We don't have five year plans...we have the Federal Reserve, Treasury Department, and other official mechanisms to help and guide us to perpetual prosperity.

Seattle Times out with early smear as
Democrats fret over Tiffany Smiley threat

Republican Tiffany Smiley is closing in on incumbent Democrat Senator Patty Murray. It’s causing so much consternation that The Seattle Times is smearing Smiley much earlier than anticipated. David Gutman wrote an editorial smearing Smiley. But the paper presents it as a news feature. The article frames Smiley’s campaign as focused on what Gutman strains to claim is a misleading criticism of Seattle. He calls it “an old GOP tactic” in the biased headline. The smear was one of many picked up by Democrat politicians and party leaders to attack Smiley. That was the intent. Seattle Times, Democrats pretend all is well in Seattle

President Biden thanked a U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmer for saving lives as Hurricane Ian battered Florida, a service member who will be discharged for not having a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a report. Biden called several members of the Coast Guard over the phone, including Technician Second Class Zach Loesch, and thanked them for rescuing people on the southwest Florida coast in Fort Myers and Naples. "I told him how proud of him I was and thanked him for all the work he and his Coasties are doing to save lives," Biden said of his call with Loesch in remarks the White House published Friday.

Several instances of political violence, many with victims supporting conservative causes, have occurred since President Biden warned of the alleged threat that supporters of former President Trump pose to the country, including attacks on anti-abortion activists and political canvassers and the murder of an 18-year-old in North Dakota. "Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic," President Biden said during a September 1 speech in Philadelphia that earned widespread criticism from conservatives and even some on the left.

Multiple experts contacted by Fox News Digital argued that there isn't sufficient evidence to suggest climate change caused Hurricane Ian or any individual natural disaster. The experts' comments come as a series of media outlets, Democrats and progressive commentators continue to blame the hurricane on human-caused global warming. Hurricane Ian slammed into southwest Florida as a Category 4 storm on Wednesday, causing more than a million residents to lose power and prompting stark safety warnings from Florida officials. "What they're trying to do is politicize the pain and suffering of these people to promote their green agenda," Gregory Wrightston

Global economies are in free fall even as inflation runs unchecked. The Western world looks to the president of the United States for leadership; they look in vain. President Biden has not undertaken the two things that might help the economy here at home and others around the world regain their footing: stop the gusher of cash coming from the federal government and help U.S. oil and gas industries ramp up production to bring down energy prices.

The United States, South Korea and Japan are closely monitoring North Korea's Punggye-ri nuclear test site as US Vice President Kamala Harris visits Seoul this week. North Korea has carried out over 30 missile tests in 2022 and US officials are warning that Pyongyang could use Harris's visit as an opportunity to carry out a seventh nuclear test, and the first since 2017. "We have made clear that such a test would result in additional actions by the US to demonstrate our ironclad commitment to the security of the Republic of Korea and to our Japanese allies," an unnamed White House official told reporters during a background conference call last week.

If history is any guide, Democrats do not have a chance — not even a small a chance — of keeping control of the House in the midterm elections. But the question is: Is history any guide? There's been a lot of attention paid to the new ABC News-Washington Post poll, which makes clear that President Joe Biden is a drag on his party as November approaches. Biden's job approval rating in the poll was 39%, even lower than some other surveys at the moment, and just 35% of Democrats said they want Biden to be the party's presidential nominee in 2024. But the big picture is even worse for Democrats.

Murray, who is fighting in a tightening reelection battle against GOP challenger Tiffany Smiley, tweeted on Sunday, "Republicans plan to end Social Security and Medicare if they take back the Senate." Glenn Kessler, the Post's fact-checker, characterized Murray's tweet as a "'Mediscare' attack" to win over senior voters. Whether by design or necessity, the decision by House Republican leaders to kick off their Commitment to America in this river town on the edge of Allegheny County was quite apt. The book chronicles the methods Democrats used to target Trump.

Rep. Mark Pocan, a Wisconsin Democrat, is pushing legislation that would establish a national museum of American LGBTQ+ History and Culture in the nation’s capital. The lawmaker has filed bills that would establish a commission to study the potential creation of the museum and house it within the Smithsonian Institution. The eight-member commission would have 18 months to study the viability of creating and constructing the museum in Washington. Mr. Pocan, who is gay, said the LGBT community must be able to tell its stories. “As our community faces unprecedented attacks and attempts to erase our history, we must preserve and protect our stories for future generations,”

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law Friday that will decriminalize jaywalking across California, ending the familiar practice of police handing out tickets to pedestrians on the argument that the law is enforced more often against minorities than other people. The new law, AB 2147, known as the “Freedom to Walk Act,” could bring an end to a cultural difference that has marked otherwise libertine Californians as being uniquely deferential to laws governing pedestrian traffic. The difference between Californians, who ostensibly tend to obey “don’t walk” signals, and urban dwellers elsewhere in the country, who are notoriously defiant when it comes to crossing against traffic signals, was lampooned

Still, it’s chilling as hell that Communist China continues to compromise territorial integrity around the world. As reported by The New York Post, China has opened dozens of “overseas police service stations” around the world to monitor its citizens living abroad, including one location in New York City and three in Toronto. Never-learning Europe is home to most of the police stations, including locations in London, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Paris, Madrid, and Frankfurt.

WASHINGTON — Republicans are abandoning their long crusade to repeal the Affordable Care Act, making the 2022 election the first in more than a decade that won’t be fought over whether to protect or undo President Barack Obama’s signature achievement. The diminished appetite for repeal means the law — which has extended health care coverage to millions of people and survived numerous near-death experiences in Congress and the courts — now appears safer than ever. With slightly more than a month before the next election, Republicans in Congress and on the campaign trail aren’t making an issue of Obamacare.

The new price break policy will cover 80 per cent of regular consumption in a bid to try and get Germans to use less gas and make the scenario of shortages less likely.

There’s always some mystery in the news that provides a blank page for fantasy thinking. This week’s mystery has initiated a storm of speculation: What happened to cause leaks in Russia’s Nord Stream 1 and 2, designed to send gas to Germany? The speculation runs from rational to delusional. A good example of more rational speculation is by Jed Babbin at the Spectator: He thinks Russia is the most likely suspect: Germany, Sweden, the United States, and other NATO nations would not have attacked the pipelines. There has been some speculation among U.S. conservatives that we were responsible for the pipeline attacks.

Carter, who has lived longer than any other president in US history, marked the occasion with his family, including wife Rosalynn, 95. He attended a parade in Plains and watched from a wheelchair. A picture posted by the Carter Center showed Carter smiling and observing the parade from a wheelchair.
