For US? Granholm Responds.

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm praised California’s ban on the sale of new gas-powered vehicles by 2035 and said it could serve as a model for the rest of the country.
During an interview that aired Friday with FOX 11 Los Angeles, host Elex Michaelson first asked whether she liked the regulation approved by the California Air Resources Board to reduce carbon emissions.
Without any consideration of building the infrastructure to support the switch, this is just a ploy to keep the serfs in their place…

Such idiocy seems to be a trend these days. The truth is, following such counsel will inevitably sink the United States to third-world status well before the whole electric vehicle venture fizzles, leaving us with nothing but a wrecked transportation system.

Granholme is dumber than a box of rocks, and she is wholly incompetent to be Energy Secretary.
There is not power generation and transmission (even including non-renewable and fossil fueled generation) AND MONEY to handle the extra gigawatts that will be needed to charge those EV's. How many houses have 440v service? You'd need a total and complete upgrade of the nation's electrical grid--including the residential fuse boxes. And there is no supply of lithium and rare earth metals to produce the EV's.
Manmade Global Warming is a HOAX, and Global Temperatures haven't increased since 1998.

Yes, a model of what NOT to do as California warns residents to not charge electric cars, turn up thermostats, don’t use appliances and turn off all unnecessary lighting. Sounds like a prison camp to me.

Better check with Greta. At 18 she is a genius at telling us what to do. Look at what good shape the climate industry is in thanks to that teenager. We all need to listen to her more. S/O

It would certainly enhance her EV battery stock portfolio. Another unqualified, corrupt democrat.

This more than any other plan will produce a revolution. People will not give up their mobility. And this electrical car business is limiting Americans mobility. Look at Calufornia: full electric by decree, then they say don't charge your cars.
Ridiculous!! Granholm is at best a gaslighter.

Yep! Granholm must have forgotten about Michigan Winters! When you get up in the Morning and it's 10 below Zero, what are the odds your Electric car will run? People in MN and CO are worrying about the same thing. Apparently, the Batteries don't like Cold weather!

Until the media coverage of the carbon emissions issue stops ignoring the polluting aspects of their "green" alternatives, I will assume everything they ARE saying about the issue is dishonest. Electric vehicles produce comparable levels of carbon emissions as traditional internal combustion engines; just away from the tailpipe, as it were, from the smokestacks of the power plants generating the electricity to charge their batteries. And the pollution caused by disposing of their batteries far exceeds what traditional engines produce at the end of their lifetime.
Until the media start telling the truth on this issue, I'll keep rejecting the proposals out of hand. Until the reporting has some credibility, it has zero relevance to me. Even discussion about infrastructure for recharging is premature while the gaslighting continues.

Does she have any background in transportation or physics? The latter is what you need to know about to move things around. Or is she just another EEOC token to make the sensitives on the left happy?

More of an experiment so we know not to do that. Just do it now. The inevitable causes of failure won't be significantly changed in 13 years, California can't get out of its own way that fast so get it over with so we can dispense of this nonsense.

Take a walk along Market Street in downtown San Francisco. After a block and half you'll understand deeply that California should not be a model for anything.

nothing and I mean, NOTHING, surfer boy and the commie legislature of California envision should ever be considered a "'Model'" for anything except a trip to the looney bin to sit in your padded cell and count imaginary butterflies. this idea kind of parallels the high speed rail system from LA to San Fran, which proved to be a ghastly joke involving truck loads of money and achieving nothing except more graft for the insiders and the problem is that they do it out in the open for everybody to see because they know they have a job for life just because

#4's comment is spot on. I would add that just about everyone in the Xiden Junta is a middle finger to all conservatives. The whole group is made up of phags, phreaks, and phanatics all on whom are in way over their head and are the walking proof that an Ivy League education is a waste of money.

Remember, if they don't like your social media score, they could simply turn off your ability to charge that vehicle.
Never considered that until recently, and always thought their goal was to have autonomous vehicles where they would regulate who could actually access the roads (again, you'll need their permission after all since they will control access to who has the ability to the roads).

Assuming current prices and availability of both the cars, their parts, and fuel, I estimate the cost to buy and operate an EV to be about 2 to 3 times that of an ICE. Not only do EVs cost 25% more at time of initial purchase, but their batteries cost $30k to replace, and only last 60k miles.
But of course, the current ability to mine the needed rare metals cannot possibly provide the needed volumes of material to replace even a small fraction of ICEs now on the road...so the whole issue will soon become moot.
So...they cost 2 to 3 times as much to own, but only if you can get one. So please tell me, again...how is that plan going to save the planet?

I'd like to know what this twit drives, a relevant piece of information considering what she advocates. Is it an electric car? Does she have the use of a taxpayer-paid black, armor-plated, gas-guzzling SUV? I doubt that she gets around on DC Metro or a bicycle. If it isn't either of those two, she is a hypocrite.
