Seventy-two percent of America’s top medical schools use racial politics to weed out applicants, according to a review conducted by medical advocacy group Do No Harm. According to the review, 72 percent of the nation’s top 50 schools and 80 percent of the top ten ask “probing questions to elicit responses from the applicant about his or her views on diversity, equity, and inclusion topics.”(Snip)The number 14-ranked school—the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine—prompts applicants to answer the following: We are interested in combating all forms of systemic barriers, and would like to hear your thoughts on opposing specifically: systemic racism, anti-LGBTQ+ discrimination,

I'm starting my old age big corporate medical maze journey and the majority of doctors I run into are Asian Pakistani or Indian. They seem to know what the hell they're doing. It just seem odd.

I cannot believe there are that many truly ignorant educated fools running these institutions. What do they think they will get with under-qualified candidates? What would any sane person prefer, a physician who has met or exceeds the standards or one who requires accommodations be made for their shortcomings? The medical profession requires a rigorous standard be met to insure quality care. I don’t care what color, religion or ethnicity a doctor is as long as they know their stuff. Forced diversity or inclusion should never be a criteria for any profession but especially a career dealing with life and death decisions must require only the very best we have. To settle for anything less will produce dangerous mediocrity.

Affirmative Action doctors...yeah, welcome to your golden years of medical care. By the way, anybody else notice the bizarre 6-page survey sent out by Medicare recently? Sounds like a probe to see who might be a good candidate for euthanasia. I'm serious. It's the creepiest thing I've ever seen.

If these 'semi-doctors' don't kill you, this useless mal-administration is also doing the same thing with 'semi-pilots.' Enjoy your flight.

The chief reason why I only go to white or Asian doctors. They have to be really qualified to get past the diversity screening at U.S. medical schools.

On the bright side, you don't have to be a genius to be a doctor (obviously). The hardest part of becoming a doctor is getting accepted into med school. An A.I. run on a website is more accurate than your average doctor. What do you think is happening between when the nurse takes an assessment, you wait, and the doctor comes in and does the same assessment? They are looking up the symptoms the nurse brought them.

No problem. Just do not tell the truth on the ap. You can "identify" as whatever you want. If you are a white male just "identify" as a black female lesbian cat. Voila- you are IN. You're welcome.
I identify as Joe Biden. Maybe I should show up at the WH and tell them to let me in. :)

Kind of makes you nervous about going to the Doc.
Not.
My primary is Willy Aromayo. My specialistas are Dr. unpronounceable Patel and Mitch Porius.
A good mix, but all my age or older. Very fine health care compared to my Canadian kids.

Once upon a time...I ran into a similar situation while waiting in the green room at oprah's Harpo show in chicago...a young black man asked me....in a confrontational tone... where did I live...innocently I said Park Ridge....big mistake...he aggressively asked if I would go to his office...he was a doctor supposedly... because I was so white...I responded by saying..."depends ..where did you get your degree?"

Those are POLITICAL questions. They're designed to permit agenda-driven partisans to create an illusion of diversity. But it's not really "diversity" when the ONLY acceptable response is to argue for discrimination against better performing students.

This screening for political or racial reasons in medical schools is not new at all. I worked for a physician in the 1970’s who interviewed applicants for medical school. I transcribed the interviews. It was easy to see intentional probing to elicit a candidate’s views on abortion. It was interesting to hear how prepared candidates maneuvered their way through it. Obvious screening to weed out any off-script applicants was fairly obvious once I transcribed a hundred or so of these interviews.
Oh yes, but #2, rather than odd I would say it has been intentional. It has been very difficult to impossible for very very well-educated physicians from Germany, France, etc. to get hired over here. It is no accident at all that we are loaded up with “Asian” physicians from coast to coast.
