The Justice Department will no longer allow political appointees to go to fundraisers and other campaign events under restrictions handed down Tuesday that are aimed at maintaining the department's independence from politics.
Attorney General Merrick Garland, who is currently overseeing investigations including the FBI search of former President Donald Trump's home and the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, said in a memo that the restrictions are to ensure that politics 'both in fact and appearance' won't affect the way the law is enforced or how inquiries are carried out.
Appointees, hired under presidential administrations rather than making long careers at the Justice Department, have been allowed to attend political events

This "window dressing" is too damned little, too damned late! The Treasonous scum who run and who would actually work for them don't give a rat's a** about the law, the Constitution nor any sense of decency.

Duh. BO arranged for his political appointees to become career employees after PDT was elected and before PDT's inauguration.

The DoJ is not an independent government.
It is suppose to be subordinate to the Executive branch.
Which is, in turn, but one of three branches of the Federal government.
All of which serve under one flag.
Independent fiefdoms, with their own flags, serving their own interests,
is how we get to the FBStazI...

FTA ... Appointees, hired under presidential administrations rather than making long careers at the Justice Department, ... Drain the swamp. First all directors and semis and their support staff go. Transferred to the fisheries 0Depatment in Alaska or Agriculture in North Dakota. The underlings in spite of their "long careers" stay in place ready to be fired if necessary. They do not have automatic advancement to executive positions on my dime.
