Bed Bath & Beyond Goes Broke: Retailer
to Shutter Stores, Cut Staff After Cancelling
MyPillow Last Year

“Go woke, go broke” is the slogan that keeps on giving. The latest installment of woke, politically active retailers now facing financial ruin in the form of shuttering stores and mass layoffs is none other than conservative-hating Bed Bath & Beyond. According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business. The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly desperate bid to stay afloat. As you’ll recall, BBB made headlines

Life is all about choices. Bad choices made. This is the difference between the government and private industry. Make bad choices in private industry, and eventually you stop it, because you run out of money. In the government, your bad choices get subsidized endlessly by the IRS agents with guns, so no consequences of endless wrong choices.

They used to be my home goods store, but I found other places to go, right when I moved to a new house and had a lot of stuff to buy. I then bought a set of My Pillows online from Mike and love them!

Did not shop there a lot but always enjoyed walking into one of their stores and looking around. I've been know to drop some money now and then on their products. Never had a My Pillow and didn't think much of their commercials. Didn't like the way the owner came across in them but millions of people appreciated his products and bought them. But attacking My Pillow was a bit much. After that I never went into another Bed, Bath and Beyond again. Obviously I was not alone.

Not that concerned about the woke stuff or the My Pillow thing. They did have the good brands, so I would buy the occasional kitchen item. Problem is, their pricing is a tad high, so when they stopped mailing out the 20% coupons, I stopped going in.

BB&Y has been my "go to" place for linens and kitchen items, but I don't buy much as I have more than I need. I enjoyed wandering their store because they had stuff you don't see other places. However, they screwed themselves when they took away the store managers' autonomy and forced them to stock stuff they knew wouldn't sell in their markets. The last time I went to the store nearest my house, it was closed at 9 a.m., not scheduled to open until 11. I went to the Lowe's next door and found the fan I needed.

BBB had other problems, such as a CEO who must have flunked Marketing 101 and had no idea who his customers were, but going “woke” on MyPillow certainly didn’t help. I haven’t been back since they pulled that stunt. They had a good thing going, and they blew it.

The entire business community owns this. The fact that morons can take control of a company and destroy it in the name of diversity, says it all about MBAs today and upper management in far too many places. Everyone connected to this ought to be on some kind of wall of idiots. Instead they move on to another disaster. Kodak did the same thing at a time when they had to make hard choices. They picked politically correct and killed a century old company. BB&Y had a crisis and they jumped all in on 3% scam because they were cowards and fools. Richly deserved and we will see more of this as the economy shrinks, thanks to rats.

#7, I found Mike Lindell's commercials to be amusing but annoying, and overselling a product - a mere pillow. Then Mrs. Lakerman purchased two My Pillows, and it was magic! I have a cervical fusion, and had given up on ever again having a pain free night's sleep, but My Pillow took care of that. We bought one for our youngest son, and he loved it. And we bought one for my evil big sister, 90 years old, and she loves it. My #2 son, a far leftist, didn't like his gift of My Pillow, because... but his wife and daughter loved it. You are missing out on one of the pleasures of life. Just be sure to fluff My Pillow each evening.

I wish this was a case of "go woke, go broke" but BB&B has had financial troubles long before they dropped My Pillow. They shifted away from name brand kitchen items and quality linens to their store brand products, aisles of junk (candles, cheap picture frames, seasonal clutter) and even personal care products you can pickup at any Walgreens or grocery store.

Something the marketing geniuses overlook is that the people who bought My Pillow products may also be buying other products that were profitable for the company. When BB & B pointedly canceled My Pillow products they not only lost those sales, but sales of the other home goods.

No one - NO ONE - ever went into a Bed Bath and Beyond BECAUSE of the company's politics. But they sure as hell stopped going in and spending money when the store execs publicized a political position. If your business is politics then by all means open your mouth but alienating half one's potential base has never been a good business model. Ask the Boy Scouts. They'd have been a lot better off NEVER having wading into the homosexuality trap -- that was NEVER their business in the first place.

BB&B’s pulling of My Pillow was the reason we no longer shop there. I refuse to shop with the people who want to tell me who is worthy of my hard earned money and who is not. Just sell your stuff and let the marketplace deal with the rest. I have to admit, it is very satisfying to see that when these companies go woke, they also go broke. May that trend continue. Americans do not need to be harangued by radicalized corporations. Just shut up and sell your wares.

A bit off topic, but keeping with the idea of telling us how to spend our money. And by whom. I love it when a "waitress" picks up my check after I place a large bill on it, and goes on to ask, "do you want change?" Bear in mind, this is BEFORE I tip. I always reply in the affirmative and adjust the tip down (I'm a good tipper). Also, tip jars on fast food/takeout counters? I think not.

Now that Nike has gone woke I don't know if that's the case but his statement holds true. Woke leftist democrats aren't the only people in my beloved country. We folks in red states and even in blue states (shocker) have jobs and spend money on goods and services. Here's BFS (bigfatslob) take on BB&B. In the competitive world of sales keep your politics to yourself, Mr/Mrs CEO. What group spends money over all other groups? Answer, families who work and shop in stores, all stores. If there's a product they like, knows your establishment sells it they will shop there. A hipster CEO who changes the store's approach to sales using their political stances can create a death knell like BB&B did. My Pillow might not be a great product, but it sells or is just an attraction for a store, I don't claim to know anything about the product. When the dumb decision was made by the CEO and Sales Manager to go political, they killed the shopping customer market. BB&B possibly went woke counting on other target groups of persons to keep up sales, who were they? Blacks? Gays, obese girls with green hair and tattoos then good luck with that BB&B. I guess they showed Mike Lindell in the process with their choice they tried to shrug off. There is a plethora of product commercials on TV but their target group is not the one I identify with so sell to them and forget me. Let's see how that target group will keep your product afloat. Go woke go broke hipsters. Family Dollar has the same products as BB&B but just less sexy. So long you dumb chumps!

Regarding waitresses, waiters, servers and tips, though both Daughters received full merit scholarships to amazing colleges, they both were told the get campus jobs for their ‘spending $$.’ They needed to keep learning both time management and funds management. Both started as a hostess at upscale restaurants, so in gratitude for the many ‘tips’ they received, when I dine out now, I choose to talk to my server to get to know them, ask them if they ‘pool’ tips with everyone there, including the sous chefs, etc., if they prefer cash or does mgmt add daily or weekly amounts… and then be as generous as possible. A couple of lessons for us, too. If possible, get onto the Board of Directors, and VOTE. The Lefties figured this out, and they have been getting on Boards building majorities AND voting on Boards, thus sending companies into the vortex of wokism, a wedge by which marxists gain access. Then, do what sort of comes naturally, and that is, shop elsewhere. To go into our local BBB is to have a sad experience of a store (I used to really enjoy, helped by the generous coupons which never expire) in a state of entropy. Shelves aren't well stocked, due in large measure, no doubt, because their stock comes from China. Employees and customers alike walk around grumpily. I'm never happy to see a business fail, unless it's a really awful, evil enterprise, of course. BBB went on a PC bender, succumbing to fearmongering stoked by the Dem/Left and RINOs (who do not like icky religious people like Mike Lindell). People lose their jobs. Empty buildings fall into decrepitude. It's just depressing all around. BBB company seems to have shot itself in the foot, so to speak, and gangrene has set in, because the moment was lost when the company could have set itself back on the right track.

In the latest indication that America is going mad, two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses were recently shot. Dressed as a police officer, the shooter knocked on the doors of the victims’ homes in the early morning hours, first shooting Senator John Hoffman (D-Minn) and his wife numerous times and wounding both. He then drove nine miles to shoot former House Speaker Melissa Hortman (D-Minn) and her husband, killing them. As police closed in on the Hortman home, encountering the suspect, they exchanged gunfire, forcing him to escape on foot and leave behind a car outfitted to appear as an undercover police vehicle. In wartime it’s particularly difficult to ascertain what’s happening. Governments have a natural and healthy instinct to hide from public eyes what is going on, even those fully democratic ones which in peace have some constraints on official censorship. Nevertheless, the fact that so many people around the world have video-capable mobile phones and access to the internet makes it harder to hide what is happening. All week long I’ve been looking at these videos, reading official IDF reports and statements by leaders of involved countries and they show that Stacey McCain and Lee Smith, whose takes I link to below, are in full

The man tried to—and this is just beyond laughable—wrest the commander-in-chief role from the executive last night. It lasted about 30 seconds before an appeals court slapped it down for gross overreach. It’s become the hallmark characteristic of this cabal of judges who think they’re the entire government. Once again, we have a clown in robes who would fit better as an MSNBC commentator than a judge. Charlie, brother of former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer and a Clinton nominee,

Former vice presidential candidate Tim Walz has a longstanding affinity for Communist China. He has visited there more than 30 times, and chose China as the venue for his wedding in 1994. Walz has expressed his admiration for communism, and he had a Chinese girlfriend who almost certainly was an agent of the CCP. So it shouldn’t be surprising that, interviewed by Neera Tanden of the Center for American Progress, he unleashed a couple of howlers. Here, he expresses contempt for the military parade scheduled for tomorrow. Walz will skip the event, choosing to participate instead in an anti-Trump rally. And he hopes it rains on the soldiers: (X).

This week, in anticipation of the ‘No Kings’ protests planned for Saturday, a sheriff in Brevard County, Florida offered a grave warning to any protesters who might be thinking of acting out like the rioters in Los Angeles. While he fully supports the rights of people to peacefully protest, he was pretty frank about what will happen to lawbreakers. Townhall reports: Florida Sheriff Warns Lefty Would-Be Rioters: ‘We Will Kill You’ At a Florida press conference, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey issued a deadly warning to potential protesters. “If you throw a brick, a firebomb, or point a gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect

The list of "partners" for the March of the Drama Queens... er... the "No King's March" that will kick off on Saturday in 1,800 cities and towns (so we're told by the organizers) reads like an American nightmare. The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), American Federation of Teachers (AFT), American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), and American Postal Workers Union — all public unions that use dues to fund political operations like the No Kings March — are listed as "partners" along with dozens and dozens of radical-left groups, including Planned Parenthood (no doubt looking for babies to abort), Common Cause, and another radical labor union,

Alex Padilla is the Democrats’ new star theater kid. He happens to be bad at it, but he’s a Senator so it will get lots of play. If the Democrats were still in power, it would result in a demand for a Special Counsel and hearings. Today’s stunt reminded me of Jon Lovitz... I’M AN ACTORRRR! In any case, Dems will wring this towel for all it’s worth. Dems and their bootlicking media love acting and actors and lawyers who act for the press. Not long ago, Dems loved Michael Avenatti. He was on a short list for the presidency. (X) That was, until he got caught stealing clients’

Iran has been urgently signaling that it seeks an end to hostilities and resumption of talks over its nuclear programs, sending messages to Israel and the United States via Arab intermediaries, the Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing officials. The report quotes officials as saying that Tehran has told Arab officials they would be open to returning to the negotiating table as long as the US doesn’t join the hostilities. They also sent messages to Israel saying it is in the interest of both sides to keep the violence contained.

A long list of Hollywood celebrities took to the streets Saturday as tens of thousands of mostly white, older Americans joined the “No Kings” protests in many big, deep-blue cities. Celebs including Mark Ruffalo, Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Cryer, and more were seen mixing with the hoi polloi in places like New York City and Los Angeles. For instance, Disney and Marvel Studios star Mark Ruffalo, who was seen parading with actress Susan Sarandon, turned out on the streets of New York City to join the anti-Trump crowds. “We see a president who has made himself a king and a dictator,” Ruffalo absurdly declared at the rally.

AUSTIN, Texas — Juneteenth celebrations have been scaled back this year due to funding shortfalls as companies and municipalities across the country reconsider their support for diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. Canceled federal grants and businesses moving away from so-called brand activism have hit the bottom line of parades and other events heading into Thursday’s federal holiday, which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States. The shrinking financial support coincides with many companies severing ties with LGBTQ celebrations for Pride this year and President Donald Trump’s efforts to squash DEI programs throughout the federal government.

There’s a narrative being pushed heavily by Democrat leaders and the media that the protests over the weekend were basically nonviolent and peaceful. I would argue that if you have to brag about that, that’s telling in of itself, but in this day and age, it also means it’s probably not entirely true. (Snip) In fact, there is footage of a bunch of “protesters” attacking a car in Los Angeles. The driver, who had every reason to be fearful, drove through them, running over one of the women attacking the vehicle. [Tweet, video] It remains to be seen what will happen in this case.

It’s strange how I keep being told by the regime media and Democrat political flunkies, to the limited extent that those are different things, about how I didn’t vote for what Donald Trump is doing to illegal aliens. I keep hearing about how I don’t want ICE raiding Home Depots, factories, and non-Beatles strawberry fields or sending away 30-year illegal aliens or illegal alien honor students. I’m told that Donald Trump only promised to deport criminal aliens – in the sense that they committed other crimes besides the crime they committed by being illegal aliens – and that Trump can’t actually send criminal aliens away either.

TEL AVIV, Israel — President Donald Trump on Monday posted on his social media site an ominous message calling for the immediate evacuation of the Iranian capital of Tehran while he’s in Canada attending the G7 summit. Trump had said more than once during the day that Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. He emphasized that again in his social media post, writing “IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.” He said Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ he told them to sign to prevent what he said was “a shame, and waste of human life,” referring to Israel’s attack last week. Trump ended

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz took a coded swipe at President Donald Trump in a call to “decency” Sunday night after the arrest of a suspect accused of shooting two state lawmakers, killing one, and targeting a third in what he called a devastating breach of democratic norms. (Snip) Walz urged a return to political decency, linking the attack to a national climate of rhetorical hostility and calling out “mean tweets”: A moment in this country where we watch violence erupt, this cannot be the norm. Rapper Lizzo jumped to her social media to misquote a Florida county sheriff who warned protesters that if they break laws while protesting, they will face serious consequences, and maybe even death. Last week, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey warned protesters not to block local roads with their protests because drivers might run them over. He also predicted that if protesters throw bricks or bottles or point guns at police officers, the department will “kill you graveyard dead.” But Lizzo did not grasp the sheriff’s message, and instead claimed that Ivey was saying that he would “kill anyone who exercises their First Amendment right to protest,”

Israeli warplanes struck the headquarters of Iran’s state television network, IRIB, during a live news bulletin. The broadcast was interrupted by a deafening explosion that sent smoke and debris billowing through the studio — forcing the anchor to abandon her desk mid-sentence and flee as the line went dead. More from News 18: It comes after Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that the “Iranian propaganda and incitement mouthpiece is on its way to disappearing.” The Iranian media said the explosion happened while a presenter was delivering a live on-air criticism of Israel. Moments later, she was seen leaving the broadcast, with footage of the incident widely circulated online.

President Donald Trump on Sunday directed federal immigration officials to prioritize deportations from Democratic-run cities, a move that comes after large protests erupted in Los Angeles and other major cities against the Trump administration’s immigration policies. Trump in a social media posting called on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials “to do all in their power to achieve the very important goal of delivering the single largest Mass Deportation Program in History.” He added that to reach the goal officials ”must expand efforts to detain and deport Illegal Aliens in America’s largest Cities, such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York, where Millions upon Millions of Illegal Aliens reside.”

We’re told every day by the left and their media lapdogs that illegals only take the jobs (entitled) Americans refuse to do. It’s one of the biggest lies in American politics, cooked up in the backrooms of some smoky DNC office to sell this illegal invasion as some kind of favor to the rest of us.But a funny thing happened in Nebraska this week that blew that tired, dusty old myth to bits. ICE raided Glenn Valley Foods, pulling off the largest worksite immigration raid in state history. Dozens of illegal workers were removed and deported on the spot. Disturbingly found inside it were
