“Go woke, go broke” is the slogan that keeps on giving. The latest installment of woke, politically active retailers now facing financial ruin in the form of shuttering stores and mass layoffs is none other than conservative-hating Bed Bath & Beyond. According to CNBC, the retailer announced this week that it will close down 150 namesake stores, as well as plans to hand out pink slips to a whopping 20% of its workforce, mostly in the supply chain and corporate sectors of the business. The moves were announced ahead of an expected investor update on Wednesday in the company’s seemingly desperate bid to stay afloat. As you’ll recall, BBB made headlines

Life is all about choices. Bad choices made. This is the difference between the government and private industry. Make bad choices in private industry, and eventually you stop it, because you run out of money. In the government, your bad choices get subsidized endlessly by the IRS agents with guns, so no consequences of endless wrong choices.

It couldn't happen to a creepier woke business. I used to shop there but quit because of the My Pillow boycott. I hope they think it was worth it. Seems their desire to put Mike out of business ended up putting them out of business. The Darwin Award for Get Woke Go Broke Business of the Year.

Did not shop there a lot but always enjoyed walking into one of their stores and looking around. I've been know to drop some money now and then on their products. Never had a My Pillow and didn't think much of their commercials. Didn't like the way the owner came across in them but millions of people appreciated his products and bought them. But attacking My Pillow was a bit much. After that I never went into another Bed, Bath and Beyond again. Obviously I was not alone.

Not that concerned about the woke stuff or the My Pillow thing. They did have the good brands, so I would buy the occasional kitchen item. Problem is, their pricing is a tad high, so when they stopped mailing out the 20% coupons, I stopped going in.

BB&Y has been my "go to" place for linens and kitchen items, but I don't buy much as I have more than I need. I enjoyed wandering their store because they had stuff you don't see other places. However, they screwed themselves when they took away the store managers' autonomy and forced them to stock stuff they knew wouldn't sell in their markets. The last time I went to the store nearest my house, it was closed at 9 a.m., not scheduled to open until 11. I went to the Lowe's next door and found the fan I needed.

BBB had other problems, such as a CEO who must have flunked Marketing 101 and had no idea who his customers were, but going “woke” on MyPillow certainly didn’t help. I haven’t been back since they pulled that stunt. They had a good thing going, and they blew it.

The entire business community owns this. The fact that morons can take control of a company and destroy it in the name of diversity, says it all about MBAs today and upper management in far too many places. Everyone connected to this ought to be on some kind of wall of idiots. Instead they move on to another disaster. Kodak did the same thing at a time when they had to make hard choices. They picked politically correct and killed a century old company. BB&Y had a crisis and they jumped all in on 3% scam because they were cowards and fools. Richly deserved and we will see more of this as the economy shrinks, thanks to rats.

#7, I found Mike Lindell's commercials to be amusing but annoying, and overselling a product - a mere pillow. Then Mrs. Lakerman purchased two My Pillows, and it was magic! I have a cervical fusion, and had given up on ever again having a pain free night's sleep, but My Pillow took care of that. We bought one for our youngest son, and he loved it. And we bought one for my evil big sister, 90 years old, and she loves it. My #2 son, a far leftist, didn't like his gift of My Pillow, because... but his wife and daughter loved it. You are missing out on one of the pleasures of life. Just be sure to fluff My Pillow each evening.

I wish this was a case of "go woke, go broke" but BB&B has had financial troubles long before they dropped My Pillow. They shifted away from name brand kitchen items and quality linens to their store brand products, aisles of junk (candles, cheap picture frames, seasonal clutter) and even personal care products you can pickup at any Walgreens or grocery store.

Something the marketing geniuses overlook is that the people who bought My Pillow products may also be buying other products that were profitable for the company. When BB & B pointedly canceled My Pillow products they not only lost those sales, but sales of the other home goods.

No one - NO ONE - ever went into a Bed Bath and Beyond BECAUSE of the company's politics. But they sure as hell stopped going in and spending money when the store execs publicized a political position. If your business is politics then by all means open your mouth but alienating half one's potential base has never been a good business model. Ask the Boy Scouts. They'd have been a lot better off NEVER having wading into the homosexuality trap -- that was NEVER their business in the first place.

BB&B’s pulling of My Pillow was the reason we no longer shop there. I refuse to shop with the people who want to tell me who is worthy of my hard earned money and who is not. Just sell your stuff and let the marketplace deal with the rest. I have to admit, it is very satisfying to see that when these companies go woke, they also go broke. May that trend continue. Americans do not need to be harangued by radicalized corporations. Just shut up and sell your wares.

A bit off topic, but keeping with the idea of telling us how to spend our money. And by whom. I love it when a "waitress" picks up my check after I place a large bill on it, and goes on to ask, "do you want change?" Bear in mind, this is BEFORE I tip. I always reply in the affirmative and adjust the tip down (I'm a good tipper). Also, tip jars on fast food/takeout counters? I think not.

RE #30: Just another reason why I never pay cash when I eat out. If you use a card, you don't get pressured about tips. The other reason is the time I was in a restaurant and watched a bunch of teenagers wander through the restaurant nicking the cash tips people had left on tables. They were quick and left before I was able to let someone know. I have never left a cash tip on a table since, and I always mention to the waitress why I do not do so.

Now that Nike has gone woke I don't know if that's the case but his statement holds true. Woke leftist democrats aren't the only people in my beloved country. We folks in red states and even in blue states (shocker) have jobs and spend money on goods and services. Here's BFS (bigfatslob) take on BB&B. In the competitive world of sales keep your politics to yourself, Mr/Mrs CEO. What group spends money over all other groups? Answer, families who work and shop in stores, all stores. If there's a product they like, knows your establishment sells it they will shop there. A hipster CEO who changes the store's approach to sales using their political stances can create a death knell like BB&B did. My Pillow might not be a great product, but it sells or is just an attraction for a store, I don't claim to know anything about the product. When the dumb decision was made by the CEO and Sales Manager to go political, they killed the shopping customer market. BB&B possibly went woke counting on other target groups of persons to keep up sales, who were they? Blacks? Gays, obese girls with green hair and tattoos then good luck with that BB&B. I guess they showed Mike Lindell in the process with their choice they tried to shrug off. There is a plethora of product commercials on TV but their target group is not the one I identify with so sell to them and forget me. Let's see how that target group will keep your product afloat. Go woke go broke hipsters. Family Dollar has the same products as BB&B but just less sexy. So long you dumb chumps!

Regarding waitresses, waiters, servers and tips, though both Daughters received full merit scholarships to amazing colleges, they both were told the get campus jobs for their ‘spending $$.’ They needed to keep learning both time management and funds management. Both started as a hostess at upscale restaurants, so in gratitude for the many ‘tips’ they received, when I dine out now, I choose to talk to my server to get to know them, ask them if they ‘pool’ tips with everyone there, including the sous chefs, etc., if they prefer cash or does mgmt add daily or weekly amounts… and then be as generous as possible. A couple of lessons for us, too. If possible, get onto the Board of Directors, and VOTE. The Lefties figured this out, and they have been getting on Boards building majorities AND voting on Boards, thus sending companies into the vortex of wokism, a wedge by which marxists gain access. Then, do what sort of comes naturally, and that is, shop elsewhere. To go into our local BBB is to have a sad experience of a store (I used to really enjoy, helped by the generous coupons which never expire) in a state of entropy. Shelves aren't well stocked, due in large measure, no doubt, because their stock comes from China. Employees and customers alike walk around grumpily. I'm never happy to see a business fail, unless it's a really awful, evil enterprise, of course. BBB went on a PC bender, succumbing to fearmongering stoked by the Dem/Left and RINOs (who do not like icky religious people like Mike Lindell). People lose their jobs. Empty buildings fall into decrepitude. It's just depressing all around. BBB company seems to have shot itself in the foot, so to speak, and gangrene has set in, because the moment was lost when the company could have set itself back on the right track.

Last month, The Mother and Unborn Baby Care Center, a pregnancy center in Southfield, Michigan, was vandalized causing thousands of dollars in damages. Graffiti left behind reading, “If abortion isn’t safe neither are you, Jane” linked the attack to Jane’s Revenge, a leftist pro-abortion domestic terrorist group that is believed to be responsible for as many as 50 attacks on pregnancy centers and pro-life groups. Southfield police notified the FBI which refused to comment on the case. After 18 attacks directly claimed by Jane’s Revenge over a period of six months, the FBI has made zero arrests. How does the Hunter Biden probe end? That question is stirring now that anonymous people connected to the case are leaking to the Washington Post — leaks of investigative information and prosecutorial deliberations that are about as surprising as the fact that the Washington Post somehow manages to make its report as much about Donald Trump as about the story’s putative subject, the incumbent president’s ne’er-do-well son. It’s not a new question because it’s not a new story. Indeed, the reporting is only “new” in the sense that people supposedly in the know are talking about things that have been known for years — certainly known to readers

The Hunter Biden case is not the Hunter Biden case. It’s the Joe Biden case. All the rest is the saga of a corrupt and degraded reprobate. Yesterday someone somewhere leaked to the Washington Post that the years-long investigation of Hunter may warrant a prosecution on tax and gun charges. He may even have to pay a fine. It is impossible to be too cynical about the Post story. Reading between the lines, one can only see the coverup of the Biden family corruption at work. In his New York Post column on the leaked story Andrew McCarthy musters the high level of cynicism to read it correctly.

President Biden said in an address to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee on Thursday night that the country under his leadership is as close to "Armageddon" as it has been since the Cuban Missile Crisis in the 1960s. Speaking at a fundraiser in New York, Biden addressed Russian President Vladimir Putin threatening to use a nuclear weapon. "[Putin was] not joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons or biological or chemical weapons," Biden said. "We have not faced the prospect of Armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis." Russia has hinted several times at the possibility it could unleash weapons of mass destruction

In evident violation of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms embedded in the Constitution, essential to a functioning democracy, Canada was one of the few countries in the world determined to coerce vaccine mandates and impose possibly illegal travel apps and quarantine protocols. These measures have been paused, but the government obviously maintains the right to re-impose them at a moment’s notice. “The process and app remain in place.” Undeterred in his march toward despotic rule, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is poised to introduce a digital currency, which will give the government financial control
The Never-Ending Persecution Of Jack Phillips 10 replies

By the time I visited Masterpiece Cakeshop in 2016, Jack Phillips, the man who had famously refused to bake a specialty cake celebrating the wedding of a gay couple, had been the victim of a four-year campaign of harassment by the authoritarians at the Colorado Civil Rights Commission intent on punishing him for a thought crime. Now Phillips is back in the news, as his lawyers attempt to get new charges against him dismissed on appeal from a Colorado judge’s decision last year. For the past decade, the media and lawyers and judges and leftists have misrepresented Phillips’ position. No, the baker never turned a gay couple away from his shop.

Joe Biden, the nominal head of the Democratic Party, is 79. But he increasingly acts and sounds 89. Recently, Biden has pivoted repeatedly on stage with his arm outstretched to shake the hand—of someone not there. On one recent occasion Biden called out for Representative Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) who passed away in a car crash in early August. He was insistent, shouting to the crowd, “Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie? I think she wasn’t going to be here—to help make this a reality.” Biden’s fantasy was the reality that Rep. Walorski is no longer with us. Biden slurs his words. He truncates sentences.

Allow me to concisely interpret, for your convenience, a rather lengthy news item. I may have editorialized just a bit to save space. As Army Officials Report Catastrophic Enlistment Numbers, a Scary Last Resort Just Became Reality (westernjournal.com) The US military is falling seriously short of new recruits. This is dangerously weakening our national security. Many applicants are rejected because they are too fat. Others are too stupid or too poorly educated to pass the dumbed-down qualification tests—including those who are functionally illiterate. Some do not adequately speak the English language. Some are drug addicts. Some are convicted criminals. Some have excessively

By way of some context, the Biden regime knocked down its jail time request for two leftist lawyers who torched a police car with a Molotov cocktail during the Black Lives Matter race riots to 18-24 months even though there was no reason to do so. But as part of its Jihad against pro-life protesters, the Biden regime is using the FACE Act to target pro-life protesters for actions that are technically illegal, but fall well within civil disobedience norms and don’t involve torching anything. And seeking 11 years in prison. "In early March of 2021, a group of individuals committed to saving the lives of preborn children

It’s not really a secret anymore that the Left doesn’t believe in a level playing field, and that the woke vanguard is censorious, fascist, and unwilling to allow for the fair and open enunciation of opposing points of view. That’s why so many conservatives, including Donald Trump himself, have been banned from Twitter and Facebook, and that’s why Parler, Gettr, Gab and Truth Social exist at all: to give a voice to those who have been denied a platform for having views that don’t correspond to those of the political and media elites. But the censorship is even more far-reaching than that:

You could see this one coming a mile away, and many of us did. When the Supreme Court declared that there is no rational reason to deny the right of two people of the same sex to marry–love is love!–it eliminated the teleological foundation of marriage and the family. If marriage is no longer grounded in the biology of reproduction–it takes two, a man and a woman, to make a child–then the number two is likewise irrational. If George and Ken can be in love, and therefore entitled to marry, then why can’t George, Ken and Susan? The inevitable has happened, as a court in New York

Hurricane Ian “rapidly transformed from a relatively weak storm into a strong one, [a] phenomenon that has become more common” due to climate change. So reported the New York Times in its daily email newsletter. It also said, “Ian embodies several of the major hurricane trends in recent years, as the world copes with the effects of climate change. It’s a strong storm -- and strong storms are becoming more common in the Atlantic Ocean, as its surface water has warmed.” The prayers of a nation go out to the people in Florida devastated by Hurricane Ian, particularly those in the Ft. Myers area. Ian was indeed one of

First Lady Jill Biden offered a rare personal glimpse into her views on abortion during a political fundraiser in San Francisco on Friday, retelling the story of how her mother helped care for a teenage friend who got an abortion 60 years ago. Biden, who was 17 at the time, said her friend didn’t want to be pregnant, but learned that a doctor would only perform an abortion if she underwent a psychiatric evaluation and was declared mentally unfit. It was the late 1960s, before the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade decision, and abortion was illegal in Pennsylvania, where she

(Tweet/Video) One of the most progressive House of Representatives in the U.S., Cori Bush, is claiming that because she is black, she was forced to have an abortion. While speaking to PBS’ Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, Bush said that at 19 she went into a clinic to have an abortion done, (not her first one) and after telling nurses that she wasn’t ready, Bush says that she was forced to have the procedure done against her will. “I was thinking back to the first abortion, ‘Okay, you’ve done this before, you know the rooms, you know what it looks like, you know what it feels like in this place,

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) noted the change would be implemented in October and last a year, CNN reported.

HBO has timed the release of a new documentary on President Joe Biden’s first year in office to just three weeks before the midterm elections in what appears like the latest effort by Hollywood to rally support for Democrats and make the deeply unpopular Biden look more presidential. In one indication as to how Biden will be portrayed, the documentary is being executive produced by far-left New York Times White House and national security correspondent David Sanger, who is also a frequent personality on CNN. Year One: A Political Odyssey is set to debut on HBO October 19 and will also stream on HBO Max.

Sen. Mitch McConnell has no excuse. The ads his political group is producing to attack Alaska Republican Senate candidate Kelly Tshibaka are beyond the pale. Campaign attacks intensify in October because as the election runway gets shorter, it takes a sharp message to catch voters’ attention and seal the deal. But the money being spent by McConnell and his Senate Leadership Fund to attack a fellow Republican — one who may win and join the Senate to be his colleague — should shock the sensibilities of all conservatives. And it is shocking Alaskans, indeed. McConnell’s determination to destroy another Republican’s reputation is driving Alaskans away from the Republican Party

Schools Chancellor David Banks quietly promoted Mayor Adams’ girlfriend to a top job at the Department of Education, just months after Adams hired Banks’ girlfriend as a deputy mayor, The Post has learned. Banks named Tracey Collins—Adams’ longtime partner and NYC’s unofficial First Lady—the DOE’s “senior advisor to the deputy chancellor of school leadership,” Desmond Blackburn. She started the new job in July, and got a giant, 23% raise to $221,597 a year, records show. Hizzoner named Banks’ girlfriend, Sheena Wright, and four other women deputy mayors last Dec. 21. Deputy mayors made $251,982 in FY 21. Both women’s advancement underscores the tight inner circle of the Adams administration.
