If you see something, stomp something. New Yorkers can do their part in the battle against the spotted lantern flies that threaten the state’s plant life, which is getting a multimillion-dollar boost to help poison, trap and track the pesky insects, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said Sunday.(Snip)He promised a $22 million federal allocation for the state to squash out the menace, with most of the funding to go to New York City.(Snip)Schumer said the infestation poses a serious economic threat to the state’s fruit and vegetable industry and to Long Island’s $6.5 billion wine business. “All of that is at severe risk,” he said.

Comments:

The beauty of Free Trade Moths, like other living agents of economic warfare sent to us by China, is that the US Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service can fail in its job to prevent these things from becoming prevalent in the USA, and then they get even more money to fight the problem they helped cause. Same thing with new termites, mosquitos, ants, and diseases that are introduced here; fortunes wasted to fight problems that should not be ours to handle, and fortunes to be skimmed by politicians.

Another "gift" from China. The list of harmful invasive species from China is almost endless....from Asian Carp, Hydrilla, deadly flu like Wuhan, Swine, etc. and the Chestnut Blight that came from Chinese cuttings and wiped out our massive Chestnut forests.

FTA: "Some $200 million already has been allocated to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, according to Schumer." In the haste to rebuild New Orleans after Katrina, President Dubya brought in loads of cheap Chinese lumber that just so happened to have been infested with ravenous Formosan termites, and the costs to remediate that have been obscene. But look how quickly and inexpensively the rebuilding was done using that cheap lumber, the "free market" set will say.

The Emerald Green Borer from China killed my big Ash tree in 2 days. A beautiful tree and one of my favorites. It was a healthy tree too and a nice tree. Won't be any Ash trees left in the US soon. The invasive plants, insects, and viruses from Asia is huge.

General Motors (GM) and Ford, two of the largest U.S. automakers, pushed back on reports Tuesday that recent electric vehicle (EV) price hikes were related the Inflation Reduction Act. The two companies told FOX Business that recent price increases impacting certain EV models were influenced by inflation and supply chain issues and were announced before Democrats unveiled the legislation. Multiple conservative outlets reported this week that GM and Ford had raised the prices of certain electric models by between $6,000 and $8,500, roughly matching the $7,500 tax credit introduced under the inflation bill. "The pricing update is completely unrelated to the Inflation Reduction Act and the announcement was made
