The Fargo Public School Board in North Dakota voted on Tuesday to stop reciting the Pledge of Allegiance at school board meetings, citing diversity concerns and the Pledge’s use of the phrase “one nation under God.” (snip)
“Given that the word ‘God’ in the text of the Pledge of Allegiance is capitalized,” Holden said, “the text is clearly referring to the Judeo-Christian God, and therefore it does not include any other faiths, such as Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, all of which are practiced throughout the country and among our staff and students at FPS.”
Holden added that atheists and agnostics would also be excluded from the phrase.

This school board are prime candidates for emigration. Australia and New Zealand have turned into a communist state, so ship them there.

The phrase "under God" was added to the pledge when I was a kid. I didn'T like then and I still don't. When I recite the pledge I am always silent on those two words.
I'm with the Fargo school board in this instance

Take a look at our founding documents and tell me this nation was not founded under God. The providence of God was acknowledged in these documents because these men knew the importance of His presence in their lives and the principles of government that was shaped by their beliefs. Historically, it is correct to say one nation, under God. It wasn’t any other god that was worshipped at that time. It was the Judeo-Christian God from which our laws and basis for government was founded. That decision produced the most extraordinary country this world has ever known and to reject that as immaterial or somehow hurtful to other religions is just false. The truth of our founding and subsequent success is nothing to be ashamed of and it certainly is historically accurate.
This foundational truth is what gave us the rule of law, equality under the law and until recently an unparalleled system of justice that was blind to our potential differences whatever they may be. Our problems began when we abandoned God and began to make decisions based upon secular humanism which is rooted in the denial of God. Our present condition as a nation should convince anyone that we fared much better when God was acknowledged and respected. Of course no one should be forced to say, under God, but it is by His providence that we are free to decline.

Religious symbols are physically built into the chambers of congress, the Supreme Court and elsewhere in addition to our founding documents. At least number two lives in a country where you have a choice to say or not say words, until now. This is a liberals personal view that the word God in the pledge only refers to Christianity, but it is also an act to remove all religion which is a communist goal.

In addition to a 'like' button, Lucianne needs a 'delete' or 'troll' or 'report abuse' button....seems like more of them are appearing every day...didn't I read something a long time ago about the Obamanator paying trolls to hang on conservative sites?? Just asking...

The First Principle of communism is that there is no God. The phrase 'under God' was added to the pledge during the cold war in large part to expose communists in our ranks. I would posit that, in the case of the Fargo Public School Board, it has served its intended purpose.

Reply 2,
The phrase “under God” was added in 1954, so you are an elderly nut job. I know many of you. Your attitudes screwed up the US and our Churches. The “Greatest Generation” had its share of leftist loonies and you have provided further evidence of that.

FIRE THEM ALL. The SECOND MOST important election you'll vote in this year, and from now on, is the local school board. It's taken "them" 60 years to turn the government schools into leftist re-education factories. It will take as long to purge the system of the indoctrinators and replace them with actual educators, assuming, of course, that the government schools last that long. TAKE BACK AMERICA!

#5. For over 20 years, Lucianne has been the go-to site for the civil exchange of views. I may be mistaken, but I think I remember a time when there was a "don't like" button, but it was removed. Even among conservatives there are different views and here, at least, is one remaining refuge from the Thought Police. With respect, I'd like to keep it that way

Ahhhh, “With respect I’d like to keep it that way”….
The phrase that destroyed America. Our Pathological Altruism was the death of this Country.
A troll is a troll is a troll. And one does not ‘coexist’ with a troll.

I believe Mark Twain had a few words to say about school boards: "In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards."

Our nation was founded by theists. It really is one nation under God. If someone still wants to live here then they just need to abide with our rules and traditions, like every other country on earth expects.

It would be better if school boards emphasized the importance of children being well-educated in American History and Civics before they graduate. Then they would learn the origin of the words, "One nation under God."
So we must get involved with the local school boards as well. Are they appointed? Get rid of the atheists who do not believe in the Judeo-Christian tradition. I read yesterday there were more out-of-wedlock births last year than children born to a married couple, dissolving the concept of family. We are in a spiritual war so we have to go on the offense or our country will disintegrate.
If it is happening in Fargo, North Dakota, it is happening elsewhere as well.

Where is their Governor? Kristie should have mandated ALL schools say the Pledge, every morning and that there be an American FLAG in every Classroom! Big slip up there!! Also should have made sure there are no "Unsuitable" Books in Elementary Classrooms or the School Library. Governor DeSantis did Mandate those things for Florida Schools!

And I suppose all the members of the school board have turned all their money back to the Treasury Dept. that proudly displays what most patriotic Americans believe --- "In God we trust".
It is a pity that such ignoramuses are on any board that has jurisdiction over anyone.
