NEW YORK -- If you thought New York City rent couldn't go any higher, it has. The average monthly rent in Manhattan has hit a record $5,000 a month, and renters are struggling to pay it. CBS2's Natalie Duddridge bumped into Mike Dias just as he was rushing to see an apartment in Hell's Kitchen to beat the other bidders. "It's crazy right now, insane," he said. "We're trying to stay under $4k, hopefully." One couple who just moved from the West Coast to New York says they are priced out of one bedrooms, so they're looking at studios, and even

I have to say, it's really hard to sympathize with these liberals who keep voting for all this misery. You can't vote for democrats and expect to live a good life. It doesn't work that way. If you vote for democrats you will have a miserable life. It's amazing how many liberals vote for a miserable life.

Fake news reporting (a day after they confirm Biden's lie/claim of zero inflation in July) that #1 area for rent inflation in the country is Tampa/St. Pete and New York is ranked last. How can that be with these $5,000 numbers? Bull crap is the only answer, Republicans will be blamed next because the sent a couple of hundred illegals to NYC and DC. Meanwhile, Monkey Pox and now polio (of all things) are reported in NYC, but nothing to do with all the immigration there before Texas sent the buses.

It’s hard to decide what is more outrageous: Nicaragua’s dictator Daniel Ortega’s decision to shut down seven Roman Catholic Church radio stations and hold a bishop and his aides under house arrest, or Pope Francis’ total silence about these attacks on his own people. Ortega and his wife, Vice President Rosario Murillo, closed down the Roman Catholic radio stations on Aug. 1. They were run by the Diocese of Matagalpa, a northern Nicaragua department whose bishop, Rolando Alvarez, is a frequent critic of the ruling couple’s human-rights abuses. ALBANY — New York has amended several state laws to remove the word “inmate” and replace it with “incarcerated person” to refer to people serving prison time. The changes, signed into law Monday by Gov. Kathy Hochul, are intended to reduce the stigma of being in jail. Prison reform advocates have said the term “inmate” has a dehumanizing effect. Prisoners say it can feel degrading when jail guards refer to them as inmates, especially in front of their families during in-person visits. “Language matters,” said state Sen. Gustavo Rivera, a Bronx Democrat who sponsored the bill. “This is another concrete

The Labor Department released the inflation report Wednesday and while any fair-minded person can tell the economy is far from looking up, President Joe Biden has well and truly embraced Orwellian dystopian doublethink and, instead of saying “2+2=5,” declared 8.5 equals zero. While holding a ceremony Wednesday to sign the PACT Act that, in part, addresses the healthcare needs of veterans who suffered illness or injury from exposure to burn pits, Biden attempted to draw a win on the consumer price index (CPI) coming in at 8.5 percent for the month of July. That number was indeed a drop from

DETROIT — A tax credit of up to $7,500 could be used to defray the cost of an electric vehicle under the Inflation Reduction Act now moving toward final approval in Congress. But the auto industry is warning that the vast majority of EV purchases won’t qualify for a tax credit that large. That’s mainly because of the bill’s requirement that, to qualify for the credit, an electric vehicle must contain a battery built in North America with minerals mined or recycled on the continent. And those rules become more stringent over time — to the point where, in a
