Knucklehead Of The Week: After Mar-a-Lago

One thing we must give Democrats credit for is their unity. Yes, certain members of the party such as Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) will occasionally diverge from the party line and oppose particularly radical pieces of legislation, but when it comes to big moments and key votes – on impeachment, for instance – Democrats circle the wagons. Contrarily, Republicans tend to fracture at the most inopportune moments, which is why it was refreshing to see virtual unanimity amongst the GOP after Monday’s outrageous raid on former President Donald Trump’s residence Mar-a-Lago. Almost all notable Republicans supported Trump after the ordeal; all except for one.

Actually, #1, that was during his term as Governor when there was a budget stand-off and state government was shut down. Christie ordered that all the shore beaches be closed. But he took his family and some of his son’s friends for a day at the Governor’s beach house. Bully, hypocrite, and POS only begin to describe Christie Creme.

Any office-holding Republican, particularly one on the ballot in '22, who would not "condemn" this outrageous raid would be a fool. Christie isn't running for anything, although still a fool. If Mitt condemned this act, I missed it...so did the search engines when queried. Certainly, Undoubtedly, Liz Cheney was also equally vocal in her response. Are we still to keep our powder dry?

Strongly suspect there are many Republicans that do not have Trump's back. Let's not forget Liz Cheney. Congress has one chance to clean up this mess. Not holding my breath. Maybe this can be cleaned up at the voting booth. Again, not holding my breath. At that point, what happens next, all bets are off. While many people will tolerate tyranny, others will not. It has become quite clear that government is no longer policing itself. Quite the contrary, most of the government has joined in on the corruption.

Tim Scott was also milquetoast. He said we should be shocked, stunned, and surprised but then reversed that by saying we shouldn't rush to judgement and we should let it play out. That attitude of giving the benefit of the doubt to obviously corrupt institutions is what has gotten us into this mess.

Yes #15, there is a lot more of that type “support” for Trump amongst top Republican leadership. I listen very carefully to their lawyerly word salads designed to give just enough to claim in future they were all-in MAGA supporters. It takes nothing to simply condemn the action which is what most are doing. It is still the same band of courageous ones in House that steadfastly stand up for all the weapons being used against Trump.

Chris Christie caved to the unions after they demanded he forbid all those volunteers from all over the nation from coming into NJ to help residents clean up and get their properties fixed in timely fashion. Plus, he held onto state funds and used them to fund a possible search on the likelihood he could run for president. Meanwhile, residents waited for months, in some cases years, to get their property fixed. He is somebody the GOP should shun and force into political exile. He is rotten to his core and deserves no less.

One of former President Donald Trump’s strongest and most endearing personality traits is his relentless sense of humor. He’s a very funny guy. Depending on the day’s events and available subject matter, a television interview can come across like a sitcom script, sprinkled amongst some profound takes on political topics, and rants at some of his rallies can rival those of some of today’s best stand-up comedians. We’ve had humorous presidents before, with Ronald Reagan quickly coming to mind, but none at the level of Trump. And despite the intense friction in today’s political climate and national tensions having been ratcheted to previously unseen levels after last week’s outrageous Mar-a-Lago Raid,

Is this the funniest comedy you’ll never see — because of cancel culture? In 2016, Jamie Foxx, 54, and Jeremy Piven, 57, started filming “All-Star Weekend,” a movie about two NBA-obsessed friends in Indiana. Piven’s character is Steph Curry’s biggest fan, while Foxx’s worships LeBron James. The pair win tickets to the NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles and on their way out west, they run into a cast of wacky characters and find themselves in a dangerous situation with their hoop idols. The premise and the cast, which includes Robert Downey Jr., Benicio del Toro, Gerard Butler and Eva Longoria, seem like a slam dunk.

Less than a week ago, the tragedy of four brutal murders in New Mexico appeared to be a windfall for Democrats. It was a perfect, yet bloody, scenario for the party that doesn’t hesitate to try and exploit every and any tragedy that fits their larger narrative. And while we can’t be sure that any Democrats were actually happy about four men being dead, we know that internally they were thrilled about the circumstances. We could almost see them doing cartwheels in their heads as they discussed the matter. Muslims, of course, are included in the Democrats’ intersectional hierarchy of victimhood.

If politics and society mirror the natural world, then we might conclude that for every phenomenon there is a counter-phenomenon there to balance things out. In the context of our weekly tribute to stupidity, therefore, we would declare that for every knucklehead, there is an anti-knucklehead. That theory might not hold true in every instance, but it certainly holds true in this situation. Andrew Warren, an elected prosecutor in Hillsborough County Florida, inexplicably determined that he wasn’t merely elected to enforce the laws, he was there to write and adjudicate them as well. And then Warren ran into anti-knucklehead extraordinaire: Governor Ron DeSantis.

There’s an approach by Democrats to problem-solving that is becoming increasingly common, and it’s a tactic that focuses on our language. Rather than fixing problems, they instead attempt to either eliminate words from our daily lexicon or simply change the definition of the word. In March in the deep blue state of New Jersey, for instance, we saw the practice in action when state lawmakers eliminated the word “inmate” from their criminal code in favor of “incarcerated person.” We saw another example of it this week when the Biden Administration insisted on trying to redefine the term “recession.”

He’s also positioned himself as a Trump foil in the mid-term GOP primaries, taking a contrary position to the former president in several states, most recently in Arizona. Since the outset of the global monkeypox outbreak in May, public health and infectious disease experts have told the public that the virus is largely transmitting through skin-to-skin contact, in particular during sex between men. Now, however, an expanding cadre of experts has come to believe that sex between men itself — both anal as well as oral intercourse — is likely the main driver of global monkeypox transmission. The skin contact that comes with sex, these experts say, is probably much less of a risk factor.
