TALLAHASSEE - Trulieve, the state's largest medical-marijuana operator, and country-music legends The Bellamy Brothers are backing a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow recreational use of marijuana by people 21 or older. The proposed amendment was filed Monday at the state Division of Elections, with Tallahassee-based Trulieve contributing $5 million to the effort to get the measure on the 2024 ballot. Other multi-state medical marijuana operators also are expected to support the campaign. Florida voters passed a constitutional amendment in 2016 to broadly legalize medical marijuana, and nearly 800,000 patients have been authorized for the treatment. While past recreational-marijuana initiatives in the state have failed,

Denver is a great lesson on weed. Seems like a city of stoners now. Don't know whether it's true or not but I read today that vehicle deaths overall by stoned drivers now exceed the DUI deaths.

Bellamy Brothers? You mean those Bellamy Brothers ("Let Your Love Grow"? Did they morph from pop music into horticulture? Whatever. The medical pot initiative didn't pass the first time on the ballot--below 60%--but easily passed the second initiative, at 71%. Legalization looms. It will be sure to pass. The Brothers made the right business decision. Unless you're a WNBA player in an unfriendly foreign land.

Just in time to create another major voting issue this November. It’s a ploy to bring out all the young democrat and libertarian voters and maybe conservatives to vote that otherwise would have stayed home. I’m sure Governor DeSantis will state the known issues and then the democrats will turn this into a major issue just like Roe v Wade and make DeSantis the boogeyman.

Whether it's authoritarian liberals using the force of law to indoctrinate your kids with LGBT lifestyle or republicans dictating what you can and can't do in the privacy of your own home to wind down from work, both suck. Want to paint the party as being out of touch and irrelevant? Keep playing the Archie Bunker card and having no clue where to choose your battles.

Cannot convince me it's harmless. Many years ago when I worked in a print shop, I remember a co-worker walk out to the garbage dumpster to light up a joint. He came back in the store practically floating, and promptly got a finger stuck in the rollers on his printing press. OUCH! Wouldn't have happened if he didn't have a buzz on.

“I honestly feel we should not play the national anthem during our season,” WNBA superstar Brittney Griner said in a 2020 interview with the Arizona Republic. “I think we should take that much of a stand.” Griner is now serving nine years in a Russian penal colony for drug possession. One might now ask what kind of a “stand” was Griner wanting to take? More importantly, what kind of “stand” should we take regarding a pro athlete who enjoyed her oppression in America so much that she became fabulously wealthy and had the freedom to marry a female spouse — something that she might be arrested for in Russia?

Russia’s Saki Air Base, safely tucked away 120 miles or more behind the front lines, lost as many as 10 warplanes and various buildings in a series of explosions on Tuesday — but how it happened remains a mystery. Very few people seem to know what actually happened, and even those witnesses are telling conflicting stories. Massive explosions rocked the airfield, home to aircraft from the Russian Navy’s 43rd Independent Naval Attack Aviation Regiment. The smoke could be seen from miles away. Satellite photos show that Russia lost at least half a dozen aircraft, including top-line Su-30 Flanker fighters and older Su-24 Fencer fighter/bombers. Several buildings appear to have been destroyed or damaged,

"I think they've really lost their way," Schnatter said. "It used to be an operational-driven company. Now it’s a lawyer, PR-driven company. They don’t run their company on principles and values." On Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray cut short his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee to fly the FBI's private jet to his family's vacation home. At the hearing, Wray had admitted that disciplinary action against FBI personnel involved in Russiagate abuses had been "slowed down" and refused to call Russiagate a “hoax”. On Monday, President Trump revealed that Mar-a-Lago had been raided by "a large group of FBI agents". Any warrant for such a raid would have been signed off on by Attorney General Merrick Garland and his associates in the Biden administration which expects to face the former president in the next election. What are we to make of 30 or so FBI agents raiding President Trump’s Florida home to collect maybe 35 boxes of records for what is perhaps the Deep State’s 7th or 8th impeachment attempt? First, why no raids on the Democrats who took the jet to Epstein’s pedophile island with its readily available sex with underage girls? Why no raids on Hunter Biden and the apparent crimes documented on the laptop? Why no raids on Hilary Clinton after she destroyed evidence? The good news, and I think it is great news, is that at least a third of the country no longer believes they can expect justice

When the FBI raided Donald Trump’s home on Monday, a key aspect of what made the United States of America great and free has been lost, and likely cannot be recovered. John Adams and Thomas Jefferson detested one another for years before their eventual reconciliation, but neither one used the agencies of the U.S. government to hound, persecute or discredit the other. Other bitter political opponents throughout the history of the republic have never before used the government’s own mechanisms of justice to do injustice to their foes. Joe Biden, Merrick Garland and their henchmen have brought America to a new phase of its history, and it is not likely

I’ll have a lot more to say about the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” in due course after I finish unpacking and catching up with five weeks of snail-mail and other things in the pile, but as an opening generalization it should be said that by passing massive subsidies for wind and solar power, the U.S. has decided to emulate Germany’s energiewende (“energy revolution”) policy that it adopted 20 years ago. It has been a total bust. Emissions reductions in Germany stalled out several years ago, and soaring energy prices (along with dependence on Russian natural gas) now threaten Germany’s entire industrial sector, not to mention a cold winter ahead

Inflation is skyrocketing. Gas prices, despite Old Joe Biden’s crowing about minor reductions, are still substantially higher than they were before his presidency was inflicted upon us. America’s global standing is drastically diminished by Biden’s handlers’ catastrophically botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, due to the lack of preparedness of a politicized military distracted by wokeism. The Southern border is essentially nonexistent, and due to that as well as to the arrival of tens of thousands of unvetted Afghan migrants, there is an unknowable number of criminals and terrorists in the country who would have been kept out by remotely sane immigration policies. Amid all this and much more,

Keilar asked, “This is someone with knowledge inside who told the feds that there was additional material at Mar-a-Lago, directed them where it should be, clearly was concerned enough to tell them this information they should have besides the 15 boxes of material they got in the winter. Does that change your mind? Is that now sufficient when you have someone actually aligned with him drawing the attention of the feds to these documents?”

If Donald Trump was going to run again, we assumed that the media would once again be the former president's largest pool of support, unwittingly, of course, with the nonstop negative coverage that would have only pushed more voters into his corner. Matt Taibbi noted that they're the "kingmakers of suck," arrogant, and more concerned with expounding on their moral superiority than covering the elections properly. Post-Russian collusion hoax, no one believes them, as evidenced by the appalling trust numbers the American public has given this industry over the past five or so years. That all ended last night.

Though all that seems to have happened during the banana republic-like raid, the FBI did something else, something even more horrific: it rooted through Melania Trump’s clothes, rifling through her outfits and underwear in what can be interpreted as nothing other than a gross attempt at humiliating the former president and his family.

The irony has been remarkable from the moment the Brittney Griner Saga began in February. Griner, the multimillionaire professional women’s basketball player who became phenomenally wealthy in America, showed complete disdain for her homeland when she was living here. She refused to even enter sporting arenas until after our National Anthem was played. Griner, who is both black and lesbian, objected to the imaginary systemic racism that Democrats and their media fed her. She was vocal in her defiance and suggested that we shouldn’t even be playing the National Anthem before sporting events.
