A recently passed bill in Michigan would make it a felony to intimidate someone by using the wrong gender pronouns.
Michigan's state House of Representatives has passed bill HB 4474, a piece of legislation that criminalizes causing someone to feel threatened by words. Under the new bill, offenders are "guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years, or by a fine of not more than $10,000."

We already have pronouns for these people, we'll stick with those. "Sticks and stones will break their bones and words will also hurt them". They are the true definition of a snowflake.

Violation of freedom of speech, freedom of association. If a person doesn't like a person, leave. They have done you a favor, so that you can spend your time with those who do like you.

Not constitutional, but that won't keep them from throwing people in jail for violating it. With today's courts someone will probably have to take it all the way to SCOTUS before it's thrown out, and even then one never knows.

Oh really? And what will be the standard for determining if someone felt "threatened" by use of the wrong pronouns?? Will it be the "reasonable person" standard (in which case few will ever be convicted because the whole thing is crazy on its face) or will it be entirely subjective and based on the "feelings" of the "victim"? Michigan, you are out of control. I hope it does become law so it can be challenged in the courts.

Well then - - wouldn't each person have to officially register their pronouns - - and provide them when asked?
How else would anyone know which ones to use. Yes - - that's exactly what we need - - a National Federal Pronoun Registry!
Let's do it!

How are they going to determine if the incorrect pronoun usage was for the purpose of intimidation? Does our government now have the ability to determine intent?

Michigan Democrats...blazing new trails of imbecility. The party of FDR, Harry S Truman, and JFK, even 'Soapy' Williams, is now filled with woke crackpots passing laws about pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and for some people, the dreaded dangling participle.

But you have to say it really fast.

So stupid. Doesn't the Michigan House have more important things to tend to? This is what you get when you encourage everyone to become a social activist. I wonder if some people are using stuff like this as a giant distraction from other issues. Is anyone actually governing?

So is Whitmer going to require those folks to tattoo their pronouns on their forehead or maybe wear special name tags with the pronouns printed on it? Because to expect everyone to read the minds of these crazed loons is beyond ridiculous.

Seems this law is already deemed moot and unconstitutional by the SCOTUS ruling on the web designer case. In that case the state was trying to compel speech it deemed appropriate. That is the exact same thing the Michigan bill is trying to do.

Now if you don.t know what crazy invented pronoun somebody wants to call themselves, your now "guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 5 years, or by a fine of not more than $10,000?" This creating a crime out of whole cloth. This is tyranny at its most absurd!
