Several GOP Members Urge Pelosi to Visit

Several GOP members, including Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, are trying to convince House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to make the trip to Taiwan. As I reported last week, President Joe Biden told reporters that the military does not think the trip to Taiwan is a good idea, as China might retaliate against Taiwan due to the House Speaker’s visit. “The military thinks it’s not a good idea right now … but I don’t know what the status of it is.” Pelosi responded to Biden’s warning, saying: “You never even hear me say if I’m going to London,

Comments:

Trump showed how it's done. Before he was even sworn in, he called Taiwan's head of state for a chat and signaled to China who's calling the shots. Nancy will be lame whatever she decides.

She'll cave and not go to Taiwan. I'm sure she and her boozehound DUI husband probably have lucrative Chinese investments and they're not gonna risk all their ice cream over a silly visit.

Don't know what the fuss is about. It's a necessary stop. After flying from Hawaii to the other Asian countries, no doubt Ms. Pelosi's government jet is going to be low on its stockpile of necessary supplies, especially for the government stocked bar. Taiwan is a logical and necessary stop to re-supply the plane. Especially if Mr. Pelosi makes the trip.

What a crock. The media is portraying Taiwan travel as a hand-wringing moment. But in reality there's no worry whatsoever. Pelosi knows that no matter WHAT she does, the media will applaud her judgment and credit her with making the smartest political move ever.

Chances are the Biden crew and the DC Democrats will wimp out on Pelosi going for a visit to Taiwan. Remember when the going gets tough, it is the tough that get going. We will see what excuses Pelosi will make if and when she wimps out!

What's the purpose of her trip to Taiwan? Simply to shake hands and "show support"? There's an election coming up, so it's not hard to figure the optics are the thing. The idea the Chinese would shoot down her plane is ludicrous...and, like Hillary's famous dodging of bullets in the Balkans, it's meant to heighten the "danger" to underscore her commitment to Taiwan. Rubbish.

Since the outcome of the 2020 presidential election became clear, there has been widespread speculation that there would be an epic electoral rematch in 2024, with the combatants being an incumbent Joe Biden versus Donald Trump attempting to channel his inner Grover Cleveland. Yet the closer we get to our next quadrennial exercise of choosing our commander-in-chief, the more likely it appears that we may indeed see a presidential election rematch, but with a ballot matching the ones with which we cast votes in 2016, not in 2020. Hillary Clinton’s flirtations with another candidacy are becoming increasingly clear and undeniable.

I have to hand it to the Jan. 6 Committee. They’ve already proven what hacks they are, yet they just keep digging that hole deeper for themselves and in so doing, they keep revealing how empty their case is. Let’s be frank — the whole point of the Jan. 6 effort is to try to do all they can to take down Donald Trump, because they’re afraid he’ll run again and win in 2024. So, if they wanted to be honest about it, what they’re doing is an effort to “interfere” in the 2024 election ahead of time.

In case you missed it, or as we might say via text or on social media ICYMI, California Governor Gavin Newsom recently tried his hand at damage control. As you may recall, over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, Newsom ran TV ads in Florida bad-mouthing the policies of the Sunshine State’s Republican Governor Ron DeSantis. One ad began with, “It’s Independence Day, so let’s talk about what’s going on in America.” From there, the ad went on to promote Newsom’s approach to (chuckle) freedom. Thanks to a recent admission by Newsom, we now know his alleged reason for running the ads, a marketing campaign

The term “Mama Bears” has been commonly used to describe the intense protective instincts displayed by mothers objecting to the targeting of their children by leftwing bureaucrats. It became widely used during last year’s Virginia gubernatorial election and the various school board controversies leading up to it. As education officials attempted to ramp up the indoctrination of Virginia’s children, parents, particularly moms, pushed back fiercely. The term “Mama Bears” soon spread to other parts of the country and the message was clear: Don’t even try to get in between a mother and her kids. We know that mothers can be deeply protective of their young children,

Millions of children around the world grow up fatherless, and in America this phenomenon can be cited as a significant factor in the deterioration of both our culture and our society. Fatherhood, and more importantly fathers themselves, are critical. For those of us who were fortunate to have had a father who helped raise us, most can point to multiple instances of friction and conflict over the years. Fathers, like all human beings, are imperfect and the relationships they have with their children can be complex. Yet in most cases, particularly when the father is nearing the end of his life, bygones are put aside,

The nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve was created in 1975 after the Arab oil embargo caused fear and angry gas-station lines across the country. The underground reservoirs, believed to be the world’s largest, were intended as an emergency oil-savings account for an actual energy crisis threatening national security. The SPR was not intended for a political crisis when Joe Biden’s Democrats face midterm election annihilation over inflation and outrageous gasoline prices above $6 a gallon caused by the same president’s ideological war on fossil fuels. Biden’s announced “plan,” which drew considerable criticism, is to draw down a million barrels a day

There was a time, long ago, when actor Alec Baldwin was actually entertaining. His performance as a main character in the classic 1988 comedy Beetlejuice was solid, though Michael Keaton stole the show in that film. And Baldwin was adequate in the movies Hunt for Red October in 1990 and Glengarry Glen Ross in 1992. He was even decent in the terrific drama The Departed in 2006. Indeed, Baldwin had been blessed with good looks and enough talent to make himself a wealthy man with a robust career. But as we’ve seen with so many actors – consider Robert DeNiro, Susan Sarandon, and Sean Penn as examples – Baldwin’s onscreen success

Some people want Trump without his vices. I need to man up in my defense of the former President's virtues.
