The Associated Press is reporting that there’s a winner in the Maryland Republican gubernatorial primary, to fill the seat of GOP Governor Larry Hogan, who is term-limited.
AP:
Dan Cox, a far-right state legislator endorsed by former President Donald Trump, won the Republican primary for Maryland governor on Tuesday, defeating a moderate rival backed by outgoing Gov. Larry Hogan.
Cox will face the winner of the Democratic primary in the November general election. The top Democratic candidates include former U.S. Labor Secretary and Democratic Party chair Tom Perez, bestselling author Wes Moore and state Comptroller Peter Franchot.

It was about a 15-point win, and he won without running a single TV ad and without ever being mentioned by the news media except on election day, when the leftist media claimed they couldn't find Cox to interview. The only TV ad the media played about Cox, was a negative ad paid for by some demoslut organization with the entire ad all about the Trump endorsement.

Maybe Marylanders have finally had enough. If Youngkin could beat McAwful in Virginia, there is hope that Maryland will get it right this time.

Cox was supported by the Democrats. He will be easily defeated by the Democrat's candidate. Hopefully that will be Peter Franchot, who is better than the current RINO Hogan.
Far right candidates cause a lot of losses for Republicans. It happened when Alexander Mooney defeated John Derr. Mooney quickly lost the next election.
Democrats believe Cox poses a much easier general election match-up than Schultz would have. The Democratic Governors Association spent more than $1 million on television advertisements that highlighted Trump's endorsement and Cox's most conservative positions -- a tactic intended to boost Republican support for Cox but diminish his standing among moderates headed into November's general election.

I hope he can win in November, but Maryland has been a far left state for a long time. We'll have to see, but it would be a big change if he wins.

CNN this morning was calling him a ‘Trump backed election denier’…

The media focuses with glee on the few Trump-endorsed people who do not win but the vast majority are cruising to victory. MAGA Trump 2024. FJB

There's no great plan needed to defeat Cox or anyone else on the Republican ticket in statewide elections. The MD GOP had its heyday with Ehrlich and Sauerbrey. Both were sent on their ways when they tried to act a little Republican. It was no help that Baltimore County turned bluer over time, while Howard and Frederick counties regressed with their population growth. The game now is purely ideological, and the GOP can't win statewide.
Hogan was an exception because he is a liberal Dem/RINO who grasped an opportunity in the wake of the O'Malley governorship. (Whatever happened to O'Malley's presidential aspirations? Seems like it's Hogan's turn on that stage.)

Realclearpolitics has MD as solid Democrat, and with a population of roughly 6 million (27% under 18) that leaves around 4.4 million voters.
Would hope Cox could make the case of election integrity, by explaining regardless of what you feel happened during a pandemic where emergency powers were used instead of the Legislature making changes, it's pretty clear that we can do better with our election process and system.
Drop boxes are the easiest since the technology is known. They should be just like an ATM machine with a camera, and one single envelope entry at a time which would be scanned upon entry. The envelope would be the one that was mailed to the voter. You could NOT submit a ballot without this envelope.

The media seems obsessed with a Trump endorsed Republican winning the nomination but is almost silent about the Democrat race. In all likelihood Wes Moore will be the Dem nominee. He's an Obamaesque political neophyte who needs to frequent revise his biography due to 'misunderstandings'.

#9 - After near than 30 years of residence in MD and involvement with politics and government, the Dems have no need to fix any elections to hinder Republicans. The MD GOP has no standing with the public. It is a gnat. Occasionally, the Dems do something so egregious that a Republican candidate can be competitive statewide. And if that Republican is "conservative" things will be taken care of as necessary.
The best example is Ellen Sauerbrey in 1994. Parris Glendenning was the Dem candidate, a "spread it around" politician and academician. Sauerbrey lost a very close election. Later it became known that in Baltimore city cops at polling stations, who held the keys for the voting machines, tossed the keys on the table and announced they were going to lunch as the counting began. That's how it was done pre-Dominion.
Cox coming within 10 points of the Dem will be a victory.
