Left-wing students at the University of Michigan Medical School on Sunday failed to block a pro-life physician from delivering a commencement address.
More than 300 students, alumni, and physicians, had petitioned to bar University of Michigan Medical School professor Dr. Kristin Collier from giving the keynote address at the school's annual white coat ceremony. (snip) A well-respected professor who has published peer-reviewed articles in some of the nation’s most prestigious medical journals, Collier had been chosen by a student honors society to deliver the speech. A faculty member since 2005, she had until four years ago been "a pro-choice atheist," and credits her change in views to open debate.

Last week, Michigan’s Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer vetoed funding for maternity homes, adoption tax credits, and other budget items that assist pregnant women. While post-Dobbs, Whitmer and her fellow Democrats seek to conceal the party’s pro-abortion agenda by pushing state courts to institute the extreme abortion regime they demand, in striking from the budget any spending that has a semblance of supporting the choice of life, Whitmer exposes her party’s abortion-first position.

Texas Republicans have sued law firm Sidley Austin and threatened to have its attorneys disbarred because they allegedly paid for staff to travel for abortions after Roe v. Wade was overturned.
In a letter that was posted on Twitter, the Republicans demanded that the law firm 'act accordingly' and preserve all of its internal communications with staff to be examined in court.
Sidley Austin is a global law firm, headquartered in New York, but which has offices in Dallas and Houston in Texas.

A flamboyant Brooklyn bishop who was robbed in a $1 million jewelry heist during a livestreamed service has defended himself against critics who say his high-profile lifestyle made him an obvious target.
Bishop Lamor Miller-Whitehead — who along with his wife was robbed of watches, chains, rings and earrings as he delivered a sermon Sunday at the Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministries in Canarsie — insisted on Instagram, “It’s not about me being flashy.
“It’s about me purchasing want I want to purchase. It’s my prerogative to purchase what I want to purchase,” said the Rolls Royce-driving clergyman, 44, in a video.

Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin suggested that abortion bans in some states could actually violate religious beliefs in a column on Sunday.
Rubin introduced the subject by referencing a lawsuit brought up by the Jewish Congregation L’Dor Va-Dor against the 15-week abortion ban in Florida. The congregation argued that Jewish law "does not consider life to begin at conception or at 15 weeks" and refusing an abortion could violate their beliefs.
Though Rubin questioned whether this would sufficiently infringe on "First Amendment rights and the state constitution’s free-exercise clause," she still considered the issue "important."
"In any event, this is an issue the forced-birth crowd should care about."

Dozens of incoming University of Michigan Medical School students walked out of a pro-life keynote speaker’s address, after a previous petition to get the speaker removed failed. (snip) The petition to remove Collier, who is also the director of the UMMS Program on Health Spirituality & Religion, was ultimately denied by the school’s dean, Dr. Marschall Runge. (snip) In his decision, he expressed the "critical importance of diversity of personal thought and ideas, which is foundational to academic freedom and excellence," according to the report. (snip) Dr. Collier made no mention of abortion, Roe v. Wade, or any political topic during her keynote speech.

The race is on! The Great Resetters who want an America of servile citizens willing to eat bugs, obey commands, accept fuel rationing, and own nothing have put the pedal to the metal in their nefarious plans to usher in worldwide communism for the masses and perpetual wealth, power, and privilege for the Schwab-Obama-Soros axis of evil (SOS, America, we're in distress!). What had been a slow and long march through the institutions these last hundred years has taken on such urgency today that the communists have scurried out of their usual hiding places in the shadows to prance around before us in broad daylight!

ROME — Aborting unborn children is the opposite of healthcare, the U.S. Bishops declared Monday in a statement condemning the Women’s Health Protection Act as “the most unjust and extreme” abortion bill our nation has ever seen.
On Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 8296), a bill that would impose abortion-on-demand nationwide at any stage of pregnancy and would eliminate pro-life laws at every level of government.

Everywhere I go these days, the question I seem to hear most often is, "What’s wrong today? Why the violence, the shootings, the divisions, the vitriol in our nation, our cities, our society?" I’m hardly the only one getting such questions: other spiritual leaders, teachers, politicians, parents and pundits tell me that they ask and get asked the same all the time.
I listen intently to the answers given to that plea by so many respected voices in the country. Most will rattle off the usual suspects: it’s the lousy economy, some opine; it’s all the political strife that drives us apart, others might suggest.

Los Angeles Unified School District has adopted a radical gender-theory curriculum encouraging teachers to work toward the “breakdown of the gender binary,” to experiment with gender pronouns such as “they,” “ze,” and “tree,” and to adopt “trans-affirming” programming to make their classrooms “queer all school year.”
I have obtained a trove of publicly accessible documents from Los Angeles Unified that illustrates the extent to which gender ideology has entered the mainstream of the nation’s second-largest school district.

Representative Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) claimed Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that the House January 6 Committee was moving former President Donald Trump’s “hardcore” supporters who “now just can’t stand him.” (snip) Kinzinger added, “I’m hearing a lot of anecdotal stuff around the edges of people who have been, you know, hardcore with Trump but now just can’t stand him. It’s enough to make a bit of difference within maybe a GOP primary.

HOLLYWOOD, FL — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) pointed to scripture to show fellow conservatives how to battle against the radical left and their schemes, urging the crowd to “put on the full armor of God.”
“If you’re running for the legislature, if you’re just a concerned citizen going to a school board meeting, you’re going to a public meeting, standing up and speaking the truth and standing for the right things at this moment in time is not cost free,” he said at the 2022 Sunshine Summit Victory dinner.
