LGBT activists demand resources for monkeypox,
don’t want officials to stigmatize gay communities

Original Article

The Biden administration and local leaders are walking a fine line as they play catchup with the surging monkeypox, scrambling to get vaccines and tests to an LBGTQ community that is losing patience while combatting the idea this is a sexually transmitted disease for gay men.(Snip)“We, at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, are fearful that the government’s history of not taking the necessary action to protect the LGBT community when facing a public health threat is repeating itself with the current monkeypox response,” Joe Hollendoner, CEO of the center, said recently in an open letter to Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Comments:

What's the government supposed to do, have Mayor Butt ask Gay men to stop pulling their pants down immediately on crossing paths with a fellow Gay men? Stopping Pridepox that way is impossible, so instead the solution is federally funded vaccines, and feigned victimhood over something that's 100% preventable by anyone who deserves to live in society.

We already have the same demographic that brought us HIV lecturing us abut money. He's a hint. If quarantine was good enough for a flu like ailment, then you too can shut down, zip it up and lock yourself away until you too are clear. It worked for small pox, and it can work for you too. That is happens to primarily be one group, and it is no where as serious as HIV. Suck it u and at least act like a man.. Actions have consequences.

Do I have this right? Monkeypox is a communicable disease that is passed along mainly through gay male sex. The LGBT. (Q)? community knows this and demands government help as long as nobody acknowledges the gay male component involved in the spread of Monkeypox. Their fear of being stigmatized will lead to further spread of Monkeypox. It will become a gay disease and they will be stigmatized for sure.

Maybe it's time to stop pointing fingers and work with everyone willing to help. That being said, in this particular case, it looks like the Biden administration has bungled the vaccine rollout for this virus. It needs to be sent to a limited number of specific areas with the highest concentration of the most vulnerable, and in this particular virus, that would be in the gay communities. Then, work on broader distribution where needed, but that would require bold action, direction and common sense which is not how government typically operates.

A new study is challenging the long-standing theory that a lack of serotonin in the brain causes depression, as well as the value of antidepressants that are designed to address the problem. Researchers at the University College London said evidence doesn’t support the underlying idea, originated 60 years ago, that a “chemical imbalance” in the brain produces a lack of serotonin. That imbalance is what has long driven prescription drugs for antidepressants, known as selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Common examples of the drug are sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac and Sarafem) and escitalopram (Lexapro).(Snip)“In fact, drug trials show that antidepressants are barely distinguishable from a placebo
