KENLY, N.C. — Kenly Police Chief Josh Gibson and all his full-time officers resigned on Wednesday. (snip) The letters, obtained by WRAL News, hint at a hostile work environment since the hiring of a new town manager. Justine Jones has been in that job for about a month. (snip) Gibson said he would consider returning to the police force if Jones was dismissed. (snip) Jones declined an interview, saying she was "not at liberty to talk because of a personnel matter." Jones, a Black woman, sued her previous employer – Richland County, S.C. – for gender and racial discrimination after she was terminated.

Anyone who ever worked for a governmental agency, or for a large corporation, can see what’s happened here. The new city manager got hired because she’s a minority - but unfortunately, that’s probably her only qualification for the job. My guess is that she also has a Michelle Obama-sized chip on her shoulder that affects her interactions with city employees. The people who resigned saw the handwriting on the wall, and left en masse to bring the city’s attention to the situation.

FTA: Jones was selected by the town council after a "nationwide search" of 30 candidates, Interpretation, the job was listed and was open to all applicants. Hiring committees say they do a “nationwide search” as a pretense that the very best candidate available was hired.

The town ostensibly did a "nationwide search".....and chose extremely badly. Apparently this black woman is so obnoxious and nasty that everyone just quit. Time to go to the root of the problem, Justine Jones, and send her on her way, it would seem.

Jones, a Black woman, sued her previous employer – Richland County, S.C. – for gender and racial discrimination after she was terminated. The lawsuit says she worked as manager of research and was an assistant director. FTA: She alleges "hostile" treatment by Richland County leaders and her supervisor and retaliation for reporting bad behavior. Jones claims in the lawsuit that she was not paid fairly and was also treated differently due to illness. She was terminated on March 30, 2015, and that lawsuit was later voluntarily dismissed. Court records don't reveal why the case was dismissed. Jones was selected by the town council after a "nationwide search" of 30 candidates, according to a town press release. She's worked in public service for the past 16 years in local governments in Minnesota, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina. Looks like she was 'unfavorable' in more than one state.

How stupid does that town council have to be to hire a woman who sued her former employer for firing her (almost certainly for cause, based on later events)?!?!?

# 2 - having done personnel requests for a City agency for several years, I can tell you how they get the person they want. When you type up the request to fill the position, you request specifications for the job that the person you want to hire has. Sure enough, that name will come to the top of job seekers and you can legitimately hire them.

Baltimore State's Attorney dumped in Democratic primary 3 replies

Maryland held its primary elections this week and one of the contests that was being watched closely was the race for the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s office currently held by Marilyn Mosby. Because of state election laws, the mail-in ballots couldn’t be counted until Thursday and the race was close enough that a winner wasn’t declared until last night. Those results, while close, appeared to suggest one surprising message from the voters. There is apparently a limit to the amount of corruption that Democrats will tolerate from one of their own even in a city as bright blue as Baltimore. The embattled Mosby lost to Ivan Bates,

A federal judge on Wednesday overruled a Maine school district that banned a parent from school property after he exposed library books promoting transgenderism and pornography. The U.S. District Court for Maine issued a temporary restraining order allowing Shawn McBreairty back on school property after the father filed a lawsuit claiming the ban violated his constitutional rights. The court ruled that the First Amendment protects McBreairty's comments at board meetings, where he has spoken out against sexualized school library books. The court also determined that the school board selectively applied its speech policy, which prohibits "vulgarity," against McBreairty.
