Army to shift $1 billion to recruiting,
retention efforts; rely more on reserves
as ranks shrink

Original Article

The Army will shift about $1 billion to recruiting programs and will rely more heavily on reserve units as its ranks dwindle and the service struggles to attract new soldiers, Army officials said in a memo this week that described a high-stakes “war for talent” that confronts America’s armed forces and comes at a crucial moment for national security. Faced with demographic shifts and a red-hot civilian job market, Army officials said the number of active-duty soldiers is expected to drop considerably over the next several years.(Snip)Recruitment officials for the Air Force, Navy and Marines say they are facing similar challenges.

Comments:

Lloyd Austin and Medals Milley are doing a fantastic job. As are the Republicans, who as usual are sitting on their hands while the Democrats dismantle the machinery. They could spend $100 billion and still have recruiting problems because few want to join the woke LGBTQI+ US military, which openly hates White people and American history (to include the Southern side), and which cannot win wars, and is used to defend foreign interests while ignoring our own.

Ranks are dwindling because they kick out those that refuse the unlawful order to be vaccinated and the vax mandate is stopping enlistments. Hold the line never give in to tyranny. Hooooraaahhh!!!

Most of this can be blamed on Barak Obama who gutted the military by removing most of the upper and middle leadership in the services and left it in the hands of the incompetents we have in "leadership positions today. Coupel that with all the woke BS and a braindead Commander in Chief and that is what you get.

When the left pushed for ending the draft and only having volunteers in the military, this was the ultimate goal. It has taken a generation or two, but it seems now to have taken hold, with help from tech development and general prosperity. Back in '65 soldiers could be pushed out the door quickly for such as Vietnam. Today's soldiering is much more complex, and then there are complications, such as the fitness of youth. Can't just take the kid sent to the recruiter by some stern judge as an alternative to jail. Putting aside the social bullsh-tuff, now is an ideal time to reshape our military forces for the modern world. There will never be another D-Day or Pacific campaign. It's also an ideal time to define what our national interests are in foreign policy and relations with our "allies", especially NATO. For the money we spend on "defense" we need much more lethality with mobility and less "tail" and social nonsense.

The U.S. should re-institute the military draft, and that includes females. Ths WOKE garbage would go up in smoke when the youth are mandated to be adults, not childish, often violent activists. Video games enthusiasts would love handling drones around the World. There should be NO exceptions except those who are handicapped to the point they cannot serve.

Get political correctness out of the military and maybe more people will join or stay. Thus last nonsense about letting trans men into the women's showers is Ludacris. The women will need to take a gun into the showers to defend themselves. Or maybe a few of them will band together and make sure these guys fully transition.

High School students aren't totally stupid. They know what's happening to the military and they want no part of it. Useful idiots can think they know all the answers, but when the word spreads as it is now, one doesn't have to look further than the obviously harmful programs being instituted in the military for the sake of "equity" or whatever BS snowflakes in the government dream up.

Not a single word in the Washington Times (not the Post) that touches on why recruitment is down. The Army's "all hands on deck" policy is not only misnamed, it won't work until "all hands" are replaced. And China is watching.

2 points: I politely disagree with reinstituting the draft. When I was in 20 years ago the Army had plenty of out of shape young people and dead weight attitudes. We surely don't need anymore and I bet things have never gotten better. ( However I am for mandatory service if there is a choice of military or Peace Corps.) In today's military, you can be punished for using the wrong terms of gender. I'm sure there's other nonsense that you can be brought up on charges. (Article some# )

Washington, Grant, Sherman, Pershing, Eisenhower, Patton, MacArthur, Schwarzkopf - over the years the US Army has has been blessed with great leadership. So how the hell are we now saddled with ineptitudes like Our Gal Millie and Lloyd Affirmative Action? And don't even get me going on the current Commander-in-Chief. You want to increase recruiting and retention, clean house at the top and bring in strong leaders that our young men and women will want to serve under.

That's only the Army. The Navy has decided to feed all of their men and women on fake meat and insects. If they take this it will spread throughout the services, I'm sure. But, I guess if you're only there for the "free" sex change surgeries and expensive hormones, that will be an acceptable price. Seems there aren't enough tranny-wannabes to fill the ranks tho.

We already have more potential recruits than we know what to do with. I'm talking about mandatory drafting of the illegal aliens sneaking into this country. They could form their own elite fighting force similar to the Tuskegee Airmen. This could also put them on the path to citizenship.

This is what happens when a President and his Administration devalue the greater White population by calling them “White Supremacists” who have special privileges, the same population group that has always made up the big majority of the traditional true warrior class that has filled the fighting units of the US military, units that actually directly faced foreign enemies on the front lines of battlefields throughout US history. This particular Biden Administration, by all accounts, has been doing that since assuming office by especially favoring the so-called “woke” and LGBTQI+ small population group across the country intimating that recruiting them will make the military great for “equality” political purposes, while maneuvering promotions to what a person looks like along with their expressed gender, and not to traditional merit. Drawing down the strength of the armed forces because recruiting efforts have failed, ensures that the military with transgender infantry and ranger units will not be able to effectively fight in two war zones at the same time. However Biden has options if the balloon goes up, he could institute a draft that will be ignored and opposed by most Americans and especially the “woke” Democrats who absolutely will not want their young family members to be drafted, placed in combat units, and sent to fight foreign wars where they could easily be severely wounded or killed. Biden could also offer all the military age illegal aliens in the USA a contract where they would be granted US citizenship for enlisting in the U.S. military for a time, making up an American version of a foreign legion to essentially be used as cannon fodder to fight future foreign wars. The big problem with that is if an armed conflict actually occurs large numbers of those foreign legionnaires could simply go back to their home countries (desert), wait out the conflict, and then after a cooling off period return to the USA as US Citizens, welcomed by way of a Democrat amnesty for those deserters, you would be deemed politically important as socialist Democrat supporters and future socialist Democrat voters. No doubt the DC UniParty and the RINO classes of politicians would support that as they did following the Vietnam war!

#20, I respectfully disagree, if you were being serious. I'm being serious, though. These illegal aliens have little, if any, sense of loyalty to the U.S. Even most of our dropouts will have at least been exposed to some knowledge of government and our history. Far too many illegals are here for jobs and a better life; I can't blame them for that. But it may take them a generation or two to become "Americanized" and develop a sense of why they should volunteer: a sense of patriotism. Others here wonder why a future warrior would associate with such a woke organization. I agree. CDR, USN (retired)

A new study is challenging the long-standing theory that a lack of serotonin in the brain causes depression, as well as the value of antidepressants that are designed to address the problem. Researchers at the University College London said evidence doesn’t support the underlying idea, originated 60 years ago, that a “chemical imbalance” in the brain produces a lack of serotonin. That imbalance is what has long driven prescription drugs for antidepressants, known as selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs. Common examples of the drug are sertraline (Zoloft), fluoxetine (Prozac and Sarafem) and escitalopram (Lexapro).(Snip)“In fact, drug trials show that antidepressants are barely distinguishable from a placebo

The variant, known as BA.5, is an offshoot of the omicron strain that emerged late last year, and it’s believed to be responsible for the vast majority of coronavirus cases in the country.

Sunday, during this week’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) argued for her January 6 House Select Committee colleague Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) to be the face of the Republican Party going forward. Luria said her voice was “needed” when asked about the prospects of Luria running for president as a Republican in 2024. “I admire Liz Cheney,” she said. “I’ve been friendly with her ever since I came to Congress, even before we served on this committee together. And I think, you know, if she doesn’t come through this primary and come back to Congress, there are so many things that she can do in the future

Three thieves were caught on tape barging into a Brooklyn church on Sunday where controversial bishop Lamor Whitehead—an ally to Mayor Adams—was preaching and snatched $400,000 worth of jewelry off of him and his wife. Whitehead, the Rolls-Royce-driving bishop who recently tried to broker a deal for the surrender of a man accused of a subway murder to the mayor, was preaching at Leaders of Tomorrow International Ministry on Remsen Ave. near Avenue D in Canarsie about 11:15 a.m. Sunday when three masked bandits stormed into the church, the pastor and cops confirmed.(Snip)The armed men, who can be seen in the video

Prepare for the incoming red wave, because we just got more signs that, if the numbers hold, it’s going to be big. I wrote a week ago about the Fox poll that had the Republicans up by three points in the generic ballot. According to the Fox News models, that advantage would translate to a GOP win, with a gain of 23 seats. Now, other polls are coming in even higher than that. First, we have the Trafalgar Group poll on the generic Congressional ballot. That has the Republicans up by more than eight points among likely voters, Republicans 48.3 percent to Democrats 40.2. That’s with even a greater percentage of Democrats

January 6 committee Vice Chair Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) on Sunday suggested Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' wife, conservative activist Virginia 'Ginni' Thomas, could be force to comply with their investigation into last year's Capitol riot. The Wyoming Republican told CNN's State of the Union that her committee is 'fully prepared to contemplate a subpoena' for Thomas if talks with her legal team fall through. 'The committee is engaged with her counsel,' Cheney said. 'We hope she'll agree to come in voluntarily.' She indicated the committee would be hesitant to take such an explosive step now - but could in the future.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced steps Friday to speed up the clean-energy transition and fight climate change, including an end to building gas-burning power plants, even as the move away from fossil fuels has threatened his state with blackouts and forced him to reconsider nuclear power. (Snip) Perhaps most important, Newsom told the head of the California Air Resources Board that he doesn’t want new natural-gas plants built in the state. So many older gas-burning plants have closed in recent years that California experienced brief rolling blackouts in 2020 and has come close to outages on several other occasions, during
