The New York Times published a series of op-eds by its opinion columnists Thursday that began with the phrase "I Was Wrong About." As part of the collection, Bret Stephens admitted he was wrong to label Trump supporters "appalling."
Stephens said, "The worst line I ever wrote as a pundit" was the first he ever wrote about Trump: "If by now you don’t find Donald Trump appalling, you’re appalling."
"This opening salvo, from August 2015, was the first in what would become dozens of columns denouncing Trump as a unique threat to American life, democratic ideals and the world itself," he continued. Stephens said he "regret[s] almost nothing

Bret Stephens needs to look for another line of work.
His half-apology is worse as he continues…

Stephens is a fool and is half apologizing now only because he destroyed any career he might have had. The left don't want him, and he has stabbed the right in the back, so now he is on his own.

He admits he was wrong, then doubles down on what he said about Trump and Trump supporters. Why did he bother? He clearly hasn't changed his mind.

Only a moron would call this a hoax. It was a treasonous lie. They tried to bring down a President with their lie. They cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. To the people, President Trump never lost his reputation- the press and congress lost more of theirs and are losing even more with the silly J6 kommittee.

NYT: Hey we're losing money hand over foot...what can we do?
1st Ed: I know, I'll issue an apology to the Patriots and maybe some of those dirty rednecks will come back.
NYT: Good start, Better yet why don't we issue a slue of apologies, even get out stupid economist to go along. We'll get all the asshat Republicans back...
Me: I don't think so! There is no lie too brazen for the disgraced NYT! They hate us, I hate em back!

Has Trump Derangement Syndrome and offered a deranged "apology."
He did so bc he had no credibility going forward, as he had documented his own gullibility.
He then demonstrated a more virulent strain of DTS.

Now that these wannabe reporters have a truly horrible example of a failed, brain-dead president, Donald Trump doesn't look so bad. Appalling, deplorable - I'm running out of space on the front of my T-shirt.

So is this the strategy? Offer a weak apology and when the democrats lose big in November start that good old line of bull hockey that goes, for the good of the country, we must unite. Republicans need to reach across the aisle and offer an olive branch. To that I say, stuff it up your stove pipe!
Do not trust any democrat or democrat supporter when they beg for cooperation. They do not want it. All they want is to lessen the smack down they so richly deserve. Heck, most of them should be in jail. Republicans, for the good of the country you must stand on principle. Enforce the rule of law. Investigate things that need to be investigated but make those investigations count. Put people in place that will seek Justice, not the political limelight. Do that and revenge will not be an issue. Just let the constitution of this country be the instrument of driving equality under the law. Give them Justice and let them beg to God for mercy.

Wait till he finds out that the virus was from a lab, Hunters laptop was not Russian disinformation, the FBI did a crime securing a FISA warrant with bogus information and there was an execution of a non-threatening veteran which was committed by an overzealous officer with other officers casually standing in the field of fire. When he gets this, we on this site can give him more truth and facts which is something he has been running from for years.

#10 has it right. The term 'hoax' is far too bland and insipid. The "Russia! Russia! Russia!" lie was a conspiracy, an insurrection, a coup!

Lie after lie after lie, and yet they expect us to just buy that now "they really mean it". You fob off a mental clown/criminal on us as a president. You continue to ignore the pile of evidence that indicates that the election was in the least at question, at them most openly stolen by the democrats and their shills in the MSM, the New York Times being one of the prime villains in this political play. Play political games and destroy the trust your institution had built up totally. I used to occasionally buy the Times and the Post for their News esp. international news. I quit when I found the attitude of their political bias' moved onto the news pages. You want to pimp in the editorial pages ok, when your whole yellow rag is the arm of a political movement then it's goodbye and don't let the door hit you going away. Then they whine because their readership dissolves and nobody except the kool aid drinkers believe them.

And the New York slims wonders why their readership has fallen down to nothing...WE don't trust anything they say...they earned their place in the garbage heap...and no amount of apologizing will correct the damage they have done to American integrity...as a journalism major myself...it makes me sad...but mostly angry....

I am on "conservative" social media but there are still a few that get on from their Fascistbook safe space that must make themselves look like fools. It amazes how many still finger point post, President Trump and Russia collusion. It was all to cover for the Biden crime family, fascist Democrat and RINO money laundering.

What Mr. Stephens fails to say, because he continues to utterly fail to understand it, is that if any of us "unprotected" folks were this wrong about so much in OUR jobs, we'd be fired. I notice "protected" Mr. Stephens stil has his job. He will continue to phone it in from Mars.

Bret Stephens still doesn't get it, and neither does Peggy Noonan, with their contrived "protected and unprotected" bs. Two words explain what Trump offered to those who sought it... "America First". They and most of their colleagues don't see that simply because they don't seek it!

He is just out to get as many as possible Trump supporters as he possibly can to drop their support for Trump and switch their support to establishment, UniParty, and RINO Republicans who are always ready to cross the aisle in Congress to help pass Democrat legislation.
If Russia, Russia, Russia is now considered by The NY Times to be a hoax, why aren’t they calling for all the Democrat perpetrators of that hoax to face the Criminal Justice System for causing the federal government to spend over $40 million in investigative costs and other expenses, and for disrupting Congressional and general federal government operations for over four years?
