Trump or DeSantis: Who Is the Man for
the Times?

Original Article

Elon Musk recently declaring that we need to move on from President Donald Trump is the latest example of chatter I have noticed lately on the news and conservative blogs about why we need to do an about-face to Governor Ron DeSantis as our presidential nominee in 2024. (Snip) First, I am a big Governor DeSantis fan. He is showing what strong state leadership looks like and how it is possible to constitutionally resist a tyrannical federal government. DeSantis has been a profile in courage, toughness, sensibility, and even love as he stands for the citizens of Florida. He is the living embodiment of a patriotic executive.

Comments:

I haven't made up my mind on the question, but this writer has some powerful and reasoned arguments for Trump.

They say DeSantis is Trump without the baggage. Just wait. If he is nominated the Democrat/media complex will saddle him with tons of made up baggage, starting with "Don't say gay".

Trump has already built international relationships with difficult countries like North Korea. But DeSantis is smarter regarding Fauci, vaccines, vents, masks and the related tyranny. Both have a much needed backbone in a sea of jellyfish. So I am torn.

1, Dems would be fools to engage DeSantis on the 'Don't say straight' bill. It would bring the truth of that bill to light and, given the bizarre and queer spectacle we have been subjected to with drag queens flopping their fake boobs in the faces of three year olds... I say bring on DeSantis and let the chips fall where they may. Trump will created broken glass liberal voters without a doubt. He should stand down and give DeSantis his full blessing. I have no doubt that is the right course of action. I have serious doubts that he will take it.

Both are far, far superior to the destructive crazies that we have in the Demonrat party. I prefer Trump first because he is aging out, and then DeSantis. I'll support either one. If on the ballot for a primary in 2024, I'll vote Trump, DeSantis is WONDERFUL but has a longer shelf life available.

My nephew's theory is that they're working together to keep the MSM off balance and the slime machine off DeSantis for as long as possible. His theory is that soon, Trump will formally announce he's running in 2024. DeSantis will be supportive but make no formal announcements regarding his own plans for the future. Then at the last possible moment to get DeSantis nominated, Trump will announce he's not running because he wants to spend more time with family (the usual spin) and will tap DeSantis as the man to take his place.

I love Ron DeSantis and I agree with the writer, he will make a terrific president. If something happens and Trump does not run in 2024, then DeSantis should give it a go. While he would be fine in 2024, he does need more experience, both in government and life. I too have heard many of my conservative friends talk about how Trump shouldn't run because he is so divisive. Makes me want to puke. Haven't these people learned ANYTHING. Democrats and the deep state will destroy any great Republican nominee. As with Trump, if they can't find anything they will make it up and we know our corrupt federal law enforcement agencies will happily prosecute any hoax. There are many reasons Trump must run in 2024 and be supported. First of all, we all know he DID win the 2020 election and by a large majority. So to my Trump worrying friends, I say if you believe the election was stolen, then I guess he wasn't all that divisive, was he? The battle we are waging is not just against deep staters in the US, but we are fighting for our very existence, against a well funded, well organized global deep state of elites and countries including China, intent on changing the world. There is only one man that has the personality to push through and take this fight right back at these evil people and that is Donald J. Trump. Any other president or politician would have cut loose Brett Kavanaugh when the first, false accusation was lobbed against him. Trump never waivered. His attitude was bring it on. No other president would have had the balls to nominate Amy Barrett and stick with her nomination as it got rough. Any lesser man who has been put through was Trump has, would have curled up into a little ball, but not Trump. The man just cannot be intimidated. Name me one other politician or government official that can be said about. Trump has enormous presence, guts, experience and a personality that is larger than life. Ron DeSantis, I think will gain all of those attributes, but right now he needs more time. There is no one, NO ONE, in this country or perhaps even the planet, that is like Trump. He is the only one that can battle against the forces that wish to destroy our country and realign the world.

I too really like DeSantis. I certainly see him as the future of the Republican party, however he is still young, has a young growing family and not fully, tested (against the certain onslaught of negativity) on the national stage. That will be like nothing he has experienced to date. Donald Trump withstood attacks that were unprecedented. His campaign was spied on by Obama, Biden and Hillary. They conspired and accused him of treason. Every day there was another ridiculous "Gottcha bombshell." Despite the personal attacks Trump stayed standing. He kept his promises ans actually STOOD UP FOR US. Life improved for all of us. Rather than pandering to one special interest group, he raided ALL boats. He is proud of this country and never hesitated to say so. He supported the military in every way and they responded in kind. Ron DeSantis will be an amazing successor to Trump but needs the seasoning that four years as Trump's Vice President will bring. He can learn at the feet of the master. Trump took all of that abuse. I can't think of anyone else who would not have caved. He didn't need that job, he did it for us and we owe him our continued support. Given what we are experiencing now I would be so grateful to have our personal "Bull in the China Shop" back in charge. To me a Trump DeSantis ticket would be unstoppable. (And..there is NO law that the President and Vice President cannot be from the same state.)

The author is all in on Trump, so his faint praise of DeSantis is overpowered by his thesis that DeSantis isn’t ready, as if being governor of a large, diversely populated state makes him less prepared for the presidency than was Trump in 2015-16. He focuses on how the media would trash DeSantis but not a mention of the voters who would vote for DeSantis and put him in office. Like many, except for the hardcore GOP haters, I’ll vote for either of them if nominated. I’m just not buying the author’s take on DeSantis.

Desantis as of now Love Trump but the bidet's performance brings age to the fore and before he is out it will get worse and it will influence many voters. Besides, the boomers have screwed up the country enough. The younger generation needs to step up and determine their own future.

We need the next president to be more than just very conservative. We need him to be deeply committed to fighting the deep state and draining the swamp. Only Trump has a strong enough desire to do that: revenge. Vengeance is the only motive that will be strong enough to fuel that fight. Therefore, we must have Trump now, followed by a committed ideological conservative like DeSantis 4 years later. Now we need Trump to exact revenge against the deep state swamp. The swamp understands this, which is why they are fighting so hard to keep Trump out. That's why they imprison his supporters, i.e., J6, Navarro, Bannon, Stone etc. We cannot abandon them.

I have been a DeSantis fan for years, watching his performance in other arenas. He is steadfast. He’ll be there. I agree with all that this author has to say in his well-reasoned piece. We need Trump again to right the ship. De Santis will have his back and continue to build what was a pretty wobbly state into a Conservative powerhouse. DeSantis’s time will come.

I wholeheartedly agree with this author. The last sentence says it all. “ To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, we cannot spare this man; he fights.” If this country ever needed someone to stand up and fight this madness, it is now. If you believe the 2024 election is going to be anything close to being civil, you are naive. It is going to be a slug fest. Democrats will say or do anything regardless who our candidate is. Therefore, I like the idea of putting our best warrior out there and let him go at it. After what democrats have put us through these past few years, they deserve anything he can dish out. Why are we worried about President Trump’s behavior after what this lawless anti-American communist party has done to the very foundations of this country. Weak republicans who are willing to throw Trump under the bus are like someone who will swallow a camel and choke on a gnat. It’s not time to play nice. Give as good as you get. These people must be utterly defeated. We the people must take this nation back.

If Trump chooses to run the nomination is his. If vote fraud is held to a minimum, so is the Presidency. DeSantis is great but I feel his turn is 2028 onward. He should stay away and attend to his family, build his record during the 24 to 28 period. I think he might be feeling the same way.

This is a easy one. With Desantis you have to make a lot assumptions of exactly how he will act as President. Will he push back on all fronts even as the establishment rips him daily as President. No guarantees. With Trump, assumptions are unnecessary, as he is a proven warrior for we the people. He was the most persecuted President we have ever had in this country. We have a press corp such that iff they saw Trump walk across the Potomac they would yell "See, he can't swim". Jean Valjean in Les Misreables was treated better than Trump. We all saw the extreme hostility the press & establishment directed at Trump 24/7. Trump never wavered in his battle against the Press, establishment, and wrong headed policies. He challenged everyone that was not for America first policies. We all know Trump answers to no one except the American people. Why would anyone want a Trump lite when you can have the real deal. If elected, he would likely remove the FBI & CIA leadership, and clean house everywhere else that needs it. The Dem hate barometer is a good indicator as to who the Dems are most afraid of, and Trump wins hands down. Ultra MAGA.

If President Trump runs, I will crawl from my death-bed to vote for him, but I fear it would be an embattled Presidency. Unfortunately, I don't think the MFM or the 'Rats will go any lighter on DeSantas than Mr. Trump. Accordingly, I believe that a Trump-DeSantis ticket for 2024 is the strongest conservative ticket with the best chance to win. Absent the unforeseen, we could do a lot worse than 12 years of Trump and/or DeSantis. My two cents.

Ron DeSantis has plenty of work to do here in FL, has very young children and his wife has been through a very rigorous medical regimen. So...leave DeSantis alone and start thinking outside the box. And to assume that PJT is the ONLY ONE who could stand up to the forces of the Deep State is to effectively say that the MAGA movement is just a one man show with no inner vitality. I prefer to believe that is not the case. A small target like Mike Pompeo might make an excellent 2024 nominee. Let's keep our options open.

Both. Trump in 2024, then DeSantis in 2028 and 2032. Why is this so hard for people to comprehend?!?!?!? DeSantis is young and upcoming. He has everything to gain by being Trump's biggest cheerleader in 2024. By doing so, Trump and his 70,000,000+ followers see him as loyal and a solid conservative, who clearly does what is best for this country!!! You have to realize that a sizeable percentage of Trump voters no longer consider themselves as Republicans anymore. They see the Republican Party as a spineless party that stabbed Trump in the back after the election theft of 2020. If DeSantis decides to go against Trump in 2024 and somehow wins, they will consider him as just another backstabber and will sit home on election day. They would rather let the Demon-Rats win than support a backstabbing lying traitor. Yes, it's gotten that bad!!! However, if DeSantis plays the cheerleader role for Trump in 2024, and continues to pad his conservative resume as governor of Florida for 4 more years, he will earn the vote of all the Trump supporters in 2028, as well as a lot of their financial contributions, and the full support and financial support of President Trump in 2028!!!! He is smart enough to know that!!!

#31 - Suppose DeSantis had thrown in with PDT in '20...where would that presumed dynasty be today? He'd be sitting there with the loser tag around his neck, highly diminished for a future run. There are no guarantees that 1) FPDT gets the '24 nomination, 2) That FPDT wins the '24 election (the UNIPARTY did him in once alrready). Politics is a strategic game, and when opportunity knocks one answers. Whether DeSantis would see running mate to FPDT in '24 as an opportunity is an open question, even if he has sights set on '28. Whatever happened to President Mondale? President Quayle? President Gore? Bush41 showed how fragile dynasties are. You might review the 1912 election for another illustration.

Encounter Books has just published (posthumously) Angelo Codevilla's last book, America's Rise and Fall Among Nations, which is a fierce and unvarnished criticism of U.S. foreign policy in the 20th and 21st centuries. (Snip) Washington warned against perpetual alliances with any power but understood that temporary alliances for specific circumstances may be necessary. Codevilla contends, for example, that NATO has been obsolete since the fall of the Soviet Union, and that NATO expansion has exacerbated tensions with Russia and, more important, pushed Russia into the arms of China. But one region where Codevilla counseled America's leaders to be more forward-leaning is to form an alliance with Taiwan,

Here’s my rule: Any person, place, or thing that has sex as its central focus is something that is not healthy, whether for itself or for others. If there is one concept that captured the brilliant vision of President James Madison for government, it was his statement in Federalist 51: “Ambition must be made to counteract ambition.” The use of checks and balances to prevent the concentration of power was key to the stability of the constitutional system that he created. Indeed, his own home at Montpelier may now be an example of what happens when there is such a concentration of power and no check on its abuse. Bruce Springsteen has been a wealthy man for a very long time. In 1973 he released his second album, The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle which featured the classic song, Rosalita. Toward the end of the song’s tale about budding romance and the reluctance of a young woman’s father to accept her suitor, Springsteen explains, “And the record company, Rosie, just gave me a big advance!” We bet they did Bruce. Just two years later, Springsteen burst into superstardom in 1975 with his blockbuster album Born to Run, which resulted in him being one of the first entertainers ever to be featured on

Rob Reiner has made many wild and unsubstantiated claims on Twitter. On Friday, he managed to top himself by declaring that Joe Biden is the best president in nearly 60 years. The result has been widespread ridicule, with the term “Meathead” trending on Twitter late Friday. (“Meathead” refers to the dim-witted character Reiner played on the sitcom All in the Family). Reiner, who was one of Biden’s biggest Hollywood fundraisers during the 2020 election, trumpeted his opinion while acknowledging that it goes against the prevailing popular sentiment. As Breitbart News reported, a recent Yahoo News/YouGov survey found that just one in five Americans want Biden to run for reelection in 2024.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi does not have any apparent plans to visit the island democracy of Taiwan after Chinese diplomats threatened 'unbearable consequences' if she visited the self-ruled island under Chinese occupation. In a press release on Sunday, her office said she would visit four Asian countries — but Taiwan was not on the list. 'Speaker Nancy Pelosi is leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific region, including visits to Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan,' the press release read.

The story about the Democrat who flipped off the Republican side during the Congressional Baseball Game keeps evolving.Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA) previously released a statement on Friday, after she was criticized for flipping off the GOP dugout. “The Congressional Baseball Game is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s a great cause and brings both sides of the aisle together for a night off from partisan politics. That is why it really struck a nerve when I heard an offensive and misogynistic

"I don't think I can keep traveling with the same rhythm I used to at my age and with the limitation of this knee," Pope Francis said to journalists during his return from Canada. Pope Francis is reflecting on his position as head of the Catholic Church. After a six-day visit to Canada, the 85-year-old pontiff told journalists that he may one day step down from the Vatican's top job. "It is not a catastrophe to change Pope, it is not a taboo," Francis told journalists on a flight to Rome the BBC reported.

President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19, sending him back into isolation just three days after he was cleared to resume his duties. In a memo, Biden's physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor said the president is experiencing no new symptoms and 'continues to feel quite well.' On Saturday afternoon, Bident tweeted: 'Folks, today I tested positive for COVID again. This happens with a small minority of folks. 'I've got no symptoms but I am going to isolate for the safety of everyone around me. 'I'm still at work, and will be back on the road soon.' Biden had tested negative for COVID on Tuesday following five days of isolation

The people who really run the United States of America have made it clear that they can’t, and won’t, if they can help it, allow Donald Trump to be president again. In fact, they made this clear in 2020, in a series of public statements. Simply for quoting their words in an essay for The American Mind, I was mercilessly mocked and attacked. But they were quite clear. Trump won’t be president at noon, Jan. 20, 2021, even if we have to use the military to drag him out of there. “Anti-Trump hysteria is in the final analysis not about Trump.” If the regime felt that strongly back then,

There is perhaps no better example of a privileged, leftist elitist than the Duke of Sussex: aka Britain’s Prince Harry. He was born with a platinum spoon in his mouth and has lived a life so detached from reality that he can’t begin to relate to regular folks, yet he somehow feels empowered, or perhaps obligated, to lecture the rest of us after a caviar brunch and immediately prior to being whisked away with bodyguards in a limousine. Add to the equation Harry’s apparently unavoidable penchant for condescension and pompousness, along with his complete betrayal of his family, and the prince

The Reverend Jesse Jackson got in on the Sesame Place shakedown over the alleged snubbing of black children by the park’s characters, calling for big changes in a letter to the company’s CEO including hiring more black executives, setting aside money for African American businesses and conducting cultural sensitivity training. In his letter to CEO Marc Swanson of SeaWorld which is the parent company for the Philadelphia-based theme park, the 80-year-old civil rights activist, political gadfly and former Democrat presidential candidate criticized the company for not “providing solutions” to remove the stain of racism, providing a list of his own suggestions

Joe Manchin went to bat for his reconciliation bill Sunday by doing something called the 'full Ginsburg' – meaning he went on all five major networks' morning shows over the weekend. The moderate Democratic senator from West Virginia appeared on CNN's State of the Union, Fox News Sunday, ABC's This Week program, CBS News' Face the Nation and NBC's Meet the Press. He is only the 31st major newsmaker to complete this feat. The message was similar across the board – that the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 will decrease inflation and not raise taxes on the average American household.

President Biden tested positive for COVID-19 in a "rebound" case on Saturday, according to the White House. "As described last week, acknowledging the potential for so-called ‘rebound’ COVID positivity observed in a small percentage of patients treated with PAXLOVID the President increased his testing cadence, both to protect people around him and to assure early detection of any return of viral replication," White House Doctor Dr. Kevin O'Connor said.
