Two religious leaders plan to join a lawsuit filed by a synagogue in Boynton Beach, Florida against a state law banning abortion at 15 weeks gestation.
The two leaders, one Unitarian and one Buddhist, will argue that the law violates the state Constitution’s right to privacy and freedom of religion (via NBC):
The retired Unitarian Rev. Harris Riordan and the Buddhist minister Maya Malay confirmed they will file a lawsuit in state court next week, echoing arguments from Rabbi Barry Silver. Silver intends to file his own amended complaint next week along with Rabbi Arthur Wascow, the founder and director of the progressive Jewish organization the Shalom Center.

Absurd. It demonstrates that there is absolutely nothing they won’t exploit to further their agenda.

A Buddhist and a Unitarian, so thankfully no Christian faith leaders were challenging the law.

"Two religious leaders ... " - is that the extent of "Faith Leaders ... " you singled out in the header of this article? "C'Mon, man", if this isn't wildly sophomoric baiting to get someone to read the article, I don't know what is. Give, Me A Break.

Unitarian and Bhudist. Yeah. Basically, if there is a god, it is whatever you want Xim to be - but there ain't. But let's all behave as if that non-existent god existed, unless the received rules of a non-existent god cramps our style. Then trash those who actually BELIEVE there is a god (snort!).

What kind of a Rabbi does this?. The Jewish religion does NOT support blatant infanticide and this " rabbi" didn't go to a seminary other than the one for people who's religion is Liberalism. He is a shame and a disgrace.

Any of these so-called faith leaders ever hear of agency, personal agency?

The Plaintiffs will regret filing this lawsuit.
The court's final dispositive opinion will hold the exact opposite of the Plaintiffs' claims: Florida's Constitution does NOT ban Florida's abortion statute and does NOT violate freedom of religion.

Somebody needs to correct this headline and remove the entirely false and deceptive term, "Faith Leaders" from it. First, neither of the so-called "leaders" have a following of any substance. Describing these maverick, faithless and feckless strivers-after-publicity as anything other than the charlatans they truly are is not only deceptive, but damages the reputations of all true faith leaders. In addition, it seems as if many irreligious Jews go out of their way to bring opprobrium down on orthodox followers of Judaism, who are universally opposed to abortion and whose favorite toast is, "l'chaim," "To LIFE!"

I'll address Judaism with my limited knowledge. For starters, there in no one monolithic Jewish faith. There is no governing council. What there is is debate and consensus among rabbis and scholars over decades and centuries. Unlike most of Christianity, in Judaism, its ok to question G-d.
The consensus in Judaism is that the life of the mother is paramount. If delivering a child to term will endanger the life of the mother, the child goes. If the child has no chance of survival, aborting the child is permissible.
Abortion is never acceptable because the child is inconvenient, the woman has a career, or the mother/family can't afford to raise the child.
One Rabbi does no speak for all Jewish any more than Jesse Jackson speaks for all Black Americans. One Rabbi speaks for himself. And in Judaism, abortion is never something to be taken lightly, celebrated, bragged about, encouraged or advocated for. Abortion is a tragedy.

The Unitarians are socialists. Give me a break. Any time you hear the term "faith leaders", you know it excludes Christians.

Unitarian? For decades, that “church” has been the equivalent of George Carlin’s “Church of What’s Happening Now”.
I don’t know much about Buddhists but I do know that they believe that life begins at conception. So Maya Malay is no different than Bishop Gregory of DC.

I can’t believe they spoke of restoring human rights while advocating for more liberal abortion policies. Talk about cognitive dissonance….!
