On June 28, Illinois held its gubernatorial primary election, which featured several Republican candidates, including Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, State Senator Darren Bailey, and political outsider Jesse Sullivan.
Irvin, a popular local official who happens to be black, had been the favorite among the GOP candidates. But a funny thing happened in the months leading up to the vote. When the ballots were tallied, Irvin ended up in third place, well behind Bailey and the upstart Sullivan.

My lifelong goal is to never set foot in Chicago ever again. Including airports.

We need to go back to smoke-filled rooms. Primaries draw extreme candidates and tricksters.

So why isn't the jerk being prosecuted? I know. Because he's a demonrat and they're always protected.

This is Illinois, where election surprises are never surprising. Democrats have owned this state for decades. You can tell by the exorbitant taxes, extreme amount of debt and criminals in charge of everything.

It would do my heart good to see Pritzker wind up in Jail to join Other IL Governors! Seems there is something in the Water that allows Crooked Democrat Governors to run that State!

Who's to say Pritzker's massive ad dump wouldn't have worked in the general? Illinois is owned lock stock and barrel by the Dems, and Bailey faces an uphill battle no matter what.
I agree with #2, and hope springs eternal as they say. But in the land of Lunatic Lightfoot overseeing the rolling massacre of black youth, Pritzker taking down one more is nothing.

This is NOT why Richard Irvin came in 3rd in the IL primary for Governor. He came in 3rd because of the ads of Richard Irvin, on camera, (1) praising Pritzker as a "great leader," and (2) calling Trump "crazy". In effect, he was characterized as a lifelong Democrat running as a fake Republican. He never recovered from those ads.

The Pritzker family is behind the "trans" nonsense flooding our schools and airways. They have given hundreds of millions of dollars to create "transitioning" studies at universities and departments in medical schools, hospitals in the U.S. J.B.'s cousin who was James, in the U.S. Navy and father of three children, is now "Jennifer." Hence, the family interest in the subject.
J.B. is doing to Illinois what Biden is doing to the whole country. If people care about what their children are being taught in our schools, and the ruin of our economy and military, they may just elect Bailey and other conservatives. We can hope and pray.

9 is correct about Irvin shooting himself in the foot, although I'm sure the photo op with the Gov was more about taxpayer dollars pouring into Aurora for some project. The Pritzker ads were about Darren Bailey being "too conservative" for Illinoisans. Sadly, the IL Republican Party was AWOL on calling any of it out and Jesse Sullivan might have ended up being the best choice of the three. As someone up thread alluded, we can only hope that Pritzker, like a number of his predecessors on both sides of the aisle, ends up making our license plates one day soon.

Illinois has been bought and paid for by the Springfield mob....it's been an ongoing battle with bought votes from chicago...hence the mayor's refusal to cut down crime...the democrats live on fear and government pay outs...and it will take more than honest politicians to get rid of the Springfield mob...nervous Nancy's infrastructure money was sent to Illinois to BUY votes...the plantation in chicago is well oiled and will reelect whoever the democrats want...revrump Jackson will see to that with his rainbow coalition...

Pritzker's involvement was there for all to see. Ads paid for by "Democratic Governors Association." Part of the problem, or maybe the situation instead of problem, is that there is a relatively small but powerful conservative faction of the Republican Party in Illinois. They did not want Irvin, either. He was no different from Rauner to them, the Republican governor they effectively ousted the last time (getting Pritzker, instead--how's that going?). Now they have their candidate--Darren Bailey. He has a lot to offer-- a bona fide conservative, a down-stater, a farming background. He also has some big money backing him. But I don't think he can beat Pritzker. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think so.

The article misses a crucial point about the primary in Illinois: Irvin was widely mistrusted by conservatives. His history suggested he was nothing more than a Democrat who latched onto a single issue, crime. Beyond that he had very little history suggesting he had any interest in any conservative policies whatsoever. He avoided debates, avoided public presentations, and his website was remarkably scant of any serious issues. Meanwhile, we had two other good conservative candidates in that race: Bailey and Jesse Sullivan. Yes, the anti-Irvin mailings from Pritzker were unbelievably voluminous, but it didn’t help that Irvin wasn’t popular with conservatives in the state to begin with.

Pritzker has to be one of the most despicable people around. Where are the calls of racism? If a white Republican Governor destroyed a black candidate in the primary, the left would have exploding heads. If I was Darren Bailey I would announce that Richard Irvin would be my chief of staff.
