Naperville police released a graphic video Tuesday that shows a veteran Naperville police officer fatally shooting a 28-year-old Naperville man who came at him with a hatchet on June 3.
Police said the officer was conducting a traffic stop around 11 a.m. on June 3 near the intersection of Bond Street and McDowell Road when another vehicle pulled up and a man armed with a hatchet got out and charged the officer.
The officer, who is a 22-year veteran with the department, fired six shots, striking 28-year-old Edward C. Samaan, police said.
The guy was obviously looking to meet St Peter or he would have just run the policeman over.
He was White so no riots.

Ah! Police brutality!
Why six shots when five would have sufficed.
Sarcasm off!

That looked weird. After the attacker falls to the ground on his back, he raises his head then throws his arms out to his side. I've never seen anyone get shot and die to know how the process really unfolds, but I have seen people "die" like that in the movies. Seems to me like a training video they'd show in the police academy to teach rookies how to react.
If it's real, good job, Officer.

And I'm sure the deceased whiny-twit relatives will deny what the video CLEARLY shows and claim damages.

It’s a good thing that officer wasn’t de-funded. A social worker ain’t gonna work in that scenario.

I'll bet the guy that was pulled over had to go home and change his drawers. Officer, I'd be more than happy to buy your lunch for the next week or two. Outstanding work!

DuPage county had the 'distinction ' of having the lowest percentage of black population in the lower forty eight states for many years. Wonder what it is now.

Wow. All the training plus quick reflexes saved that officers life! This is also why LEO’s can never really relax when the uniform is on. We don’t pay them enough.
Note: I’d have been dead. That officer reacted so fast.

That attack was totally irrational, unexpected, out of the blue. The complete video from the officer's body worn camera is on Police Activity. The officer was in the middle of an unrelated traffic stop on two teenagers when this fellow just pulled up in a silver car, got out with a hatchet, and attacked the officer. The attack might well have succeeded if the policeman hadn't been alert, able to draw his service pistol instantly, and fire. The bad guy came within a second of inflicting serious if not fatal wounds, but was left two dimensional on the macadam, making snoring noises (agonal breathing) as he expired, six bullets heavier. HST or Gold Dot? Question: If you legally carry a pistol for self defense, would you be able to respond as quickly as this LEO?

Hatchets were 'a thing' about 250-300 years ago, when guns fired only once, and they were a valid weapon when there were no firearms.
Since repeating firearms, hatchets are only useful in "gun free zones". He won't benefit from his lesson, however.

No FAIR!...cop should have fought back with HIS hatchet, not gone straight for his Gun(sarc)
Dude dropped several bottles of Pills as he was charging and then hitting the ground,
at first I thought..."12 minute stop, female driver...SHE called for her boyfriend to come to the scene", but..
looks like dude was Dain Bramaged and doped to the Gills...potentially suffering from 'Sudden Jihad Syndrome'

The deceased perp was so anxious to jump out of his car and attack the cop, he forgot at first to put the car in park. So he closed the door, put the car in park, then leapt from the car with his hatchet. It wasn't suicide by cop, because the guy came at the cop so quickly, he supposed that the cop couldn't draw his weapon before being chopped.
