Call it bad timing or Trump luck, but most people today are talking inflation. This is from Fox News: The Labor Department said Friday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods, including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 8.6% in May from a year ago. Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists. It marks the fastest pace of Inflation since December 1981.

You can put lipstick on a pig, but the pig is still a pig. You can put lipstick on Fubar'd America, but America is still fubar'd, and FJB did it. Not only is Fubar'd America inflating, but the foodstuffs are deflating in size for inflated cost to the consumer. Electricity brownouts will become the norm throughout the lower 48. America is Stored High in Transit. And FJB did it. FJB really did it.

Gas went up $.30 in the last week in my neck of the woods, to $5.69. I don’t care what happened almost a year and a half ago on the other side of the country, except gas used to be $2.10 nationally on that day. I see nothing but suffering in the future. That’s what matters to me. Idiots in Washington!

We saw this coming. All the time those stimulus checks were going out I knew we’d pay for them down the road and sure enough, that whole flock of chickens is coming home to roost, bigly. I remember the inflation years in the 70s and 80s. Scraping up the money to grow a crop that wasn’t worth much at harvest time, feeding and clothing growing little children, how big a deal just going to the movies was. Oh yes. Our age group remembers well, don’t we. It’s a lesson this generation of people need to learn but I regret the misery it’s causing. But the lessons that hurt the worst are the ones best remembered.

The Case for Donald Trump 2024 8 replies

Time for some real talk. There are a lot of Republicans with doubts about President Trump running again in 2024, and you hear it often when conservatives gather together. They worry that him going Grover Cleveland could spoil a sure thing, but that’s not necessarily so. Whether you love Donald Trump, or whether you doubt him – if you hate him, shut up and go back to the Bulwark offices with the other losers – you need to look hard at the facts. We’re not progressives who let our feelz control us, and we must ruthlessly assess our own potential courses of action

One of the most popular definitions of recession was coined by economist Julius Shiskin in 1974. In his view, two consecutive economic quarters of negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth meant the country was in a recession. Sadly, based on this description, America is on the verge of entering a recession. In the first quarter of 2022, our nation’s economy contracted by 1.5%. As we approach the end of the second quarter, the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta just estimated that there will be a 0% growth. If we fall just one tenth of a percent, it is officially a recession.
Is Abortion ‘Murder’? 8 replies

Many of those who are passionately pro-life use the term “murder” as their descriptor of abortion. It isn’t. At least not yet. “Murder” is generally defined in America as the intentional killing of one human being by another. And “first degree murder” is defined as the intentional killing of one human being by another with premeditation—that is, with an intent to kill the victim. Abortions clearly meet these objective criteria for first degree murder, except that abortion is a legally protected circumstance of premeditated killing. The “pro-choice” zealots will immediately become unhinged when one uses “murder” as a synonym for abortion,

Congress should investigate fully the January 6 riot at the Capitol—and similar recent riots at iconic federal sites. But unfortunately, it never will. Why not? The current committee is not bipartisan. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., forbade Republican nominees traditionally selected by the House minority leader to serve on the committee. No speaker had ever before rejected the minority party’s nominees to a select House committee. Pelosi’s own cynical criteria for Republican participation was twofold: Any willing minority Republican members had to have voted to impeach former President Donald Trump while having no realistic chance of being reelected in 2022. Of some 210 Republican House members,

For Democrats, the aim of the Jan. 6 Select Committee's "propagandist exhibition" is twofold:

Republicans in Texas formally rejected President Joe Biden's election in 2020 as illegitimate and voted in a state-wide convention that wrapped up this weekend on a party platform that calls homosexuality an 'abnormal lifestyle choice.' The convention was held at the George R. Brown Convention Center from Thursday until Saturday, and the vote to reject Biden's election win was a verbal one. That resolution said: 'We believe that the 2020 election violated Article 1 and 2 of the US Constitution, that various secretaries of state illegally circumvented their state legislatures in conducting their elections in multiple ways, including by allowing ballots to be received after November 3 2020.'

President Joe Biden has repeatedly touted the country’s “job recovery” since he took office, even declaring earlier this week that his administration’s efforts “created the greatest job recovery in American history.” Economists and fact checkers, however, are unconvinced that Biden played much of a role in the numbers. The U.S. plummeted into a recession in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a swiftness not seen since the Great Depression, the Congressional Research Service later found. Since then, restrictions imposed as a result of the pandemic have continued to loosen — allowing Americans to head back to jobs they essentially already have.

New York’s new mayor Eric Adams has done his best to continue with predecessor Bill DeBlasio’s horrendous policies, as crime continues to surge in the Big Apple.
