DES PLAINES, Ill. -- One of the Chicago area's most elite car dealerships was targeted by thieves overnight Monday into Tuesday. As CBS 2's Chris Tye reported Tuesday, the crew got away with three luxury vehicles - and something that might be more even more valuable. The owner of Sam Jidd Luxury Motors, at 1505 S. Mt. Prospect Rd. in Des Plaines, said this was the fifth time in a little more than a year that thieves have struck. The owner says lax laws and policing are only inviting copycat crimes. "It's going to be a nightmare this week," said owner Sam

Anyone want to bet they voted for the current Thieves in Power? If they did, I hope they leave their past voting habits in Illinois...

I lived in Des Plaines until I was 11 years old. The only two things I remember liking about the town was the toboggan hill behind South School, I think it was, and the Pampered Pup's french fries served fresh, hot, and greasy! We moved to a town with another name that people perpetually mispronounce: Boca Raton, Florida.

If the car dealer's inventory is worth millions, then state and local governments will be out the revenue that the dealer would have generated once he leaves for Florida. This thieving hurts not only the businesses and residents in Illinois, but the governmental bodies as well. But the government could fix this if it had the will power. I love the State of Illinois -- its people and its landscape (I like the prairie). But our government sucks. Most downstate folks and many just outside the Chicago metropolitan area do not vote for the crap government we end up with. We get lumbered with the crooks in office mostly because of Chicago voters, some of whom vote from the cemetery.

Five times thieves struck...and now he's going to get "security" for his million-dollar inventory pending his firm's departure for Florida? Reality finally hit Mr. Tye? Where was his insurance company covering the losses? Fobs in a wall box? How about putting them in a real safe overnight? One wonders if this isn't some other form of "arson"...

Businesses collapse due to crime waves, which are completely unaffected by the useless police, with equally useless "prosecutors" who are not interested in prosecuting. And businesses move and people move, and the city economy collapses. This is called "bad luck" by Dems, and they will say it is due to "racism".....their ONLY excuse for everything.

Democrats in Illinois (and California) are soft, squishy soft on crime. Democrats think that softness on crime will somehow lead to an America becoming a Soviet Union 2.0. Evil people ordering FJB around want to make this happen.

I happened to be on the south loop of Chicago yesterday. I noticed a Porche dealer inside a building on a corner. Driving out of town I thought how brilliant it was to have a limited stock of vehicles in the building where one could keep a small inventory and just take orders.

Consumer sentiment sank to its worst level on record in early June as the rising cost of food, gas, and other essentials weighed on American consumers. The University of Michigan's closely watched Surveys of Consumers consumer sentiment index slumped to 50.2 in the preliminary June survey, marking the lowest level recorded by the survey, which dates back to the mid-'70s. Inflation barreled ahead in May, rising more than expected as supply chain constraints, the Russian war in Ukraine and strong consumer demand continued to keep consumer prices running near a 40-year-high. The Labor Department said Friday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 8.6% in May from a year ago. Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists. It marks the fastest pace of inflation since December 1981.

The national average for gas prices in the United States has surpassed the $5 mark for the first time in history, according to one measure on Thursday. According to GasBuddy, the average has risen to $5 per gallon after an increase of several cents over the last few days. Various factors have influenced the rise in prices over the last several months. Experts say that the spike recently has been mostly affected by rising demand for the summer season and limited capacity at U.S. and foreign refineries. The ongoing war in Ukraine -- which is now in its fourth month -- has

It wasn’t that long ago when the left’s narrative on ‘gay rights’ was simple, straightforward, and easy to support: Let’s all be tolerant of one another, live and let live, and don’t discriminate. Tolerance is, after all, one of the fundamental tenets of the philosophy which drove America’s founding. But as the saying goes, “give someone an inch and they’ll take a mile,” which is the situation in which we find ourselves today. The message of ‘tolerance’ eventually morphed into ‘acceptance.’ At some point late in the Obama Administration, our culture decided that it was inadequate to merely tolerate the shenanigans of the LGBTQ community, we needed to welcome them.

Speculation is rife concerning the possible presidential candidates representing the two major parties as the nation approaches the 2024 elections. Everyone has an opinion, and the pundits are competing in the expertise sweepstakes. What can we say with some degree of plausibility? The Democrat roster is, by all accounts, dramatically uninspiring. Biden, who speaks in tongues, is plainly beyond redeeming; the question is whether he will manage to survive the year, let alone stumble, lollop, and whiffle to the end of his first term. Kamala Harris belongs in vaudeville or farce, given her talent for provoking laughter. Both will have to be retired in favor of an electable candidate. But who?

And they urged doctors and scientists to stop referring to unsuccessful attempts to lose weight as 'failures'. Terms used moving forward should include 'ineffective' or 'insufficient' weight loss, or even 'secondary weight regain'. No specific suggestions were given to replace the phrase 'morbid', however severe is often used instead. Critics today slammed the recommendation, published in a leading obesity journal, saying it was 'odd' given morbid obesity is a clinical term. But industry experts agreed that 'less stigmatising' language was crucial in the battle against the bulge, saying 'words truly do matter'.
