Oh, to have $5.00 per gallon gas again! Here in eastern Oregon, I paid $6.10 yesterday. (As an aside, I'll admit it was only $6.09 + 9 tenths. I've often reflected that a nation that tolerates an add 9/10ths to disguise the fact that it is, in reality, a penny more is a fundamentally dishonest nation, ha ha.)

Ex-Fox News personality-turned-NewsNation political editor and Fox critic Chris Stirewalt broke news when he told anchor Adrienne Bankert that he’s been called to testify before the Jan. 6 committee on Monday. Stirewalt has become a frequent and vociferous critic of his former employer and its handling of the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and now he’ll take the witness chair at the bombshell hearings investigating that attack. Inflation barreled ahead in May, rising more than expected as supply chain constraints, the Russian war in Ukraine and strong consumer demand continued to keep consumer prices running near a 40-year-high. The Labor Department said Friday that the consumer price index, a broad measure of the price for everyday goods including gasoline, groceries and rents, rose 8.6% in May from a year ago. Prices jumped 1% in the one-month period from April. Those figures were both higher than the 8.3% headline figure and 0.7% monthly gain forecast by Refinitiv economists. Terms used moving forward should include 'ineffective' or 'insufficient' weight loss, or even 'secondary weight regain'. No specific suggestions were given to replace the phrase 'morbid', however severe is often used instead. Critics today slammed the recommendation, published in a leading obesity journal, saying it was 'odd' given morbid obesity is a clinical term.
