Just saw Top Gun Maverick a couple of days ago. Gets my 2 thumbs up! OP, do see it with your father. As much as the Left attacks American values from every conceivable angle and then some, pro-Americanism isn't going anywhere. It remains undefeated! When the small yet loud sliver of wokes get all butt-hurt, that's like the stamp of American approval. To wit: MAGA, America First, Deplorables, Ultras, etc. Badges of honor!

We have tickets to see it tonight at IMAX theater nearby. Many USN aviators in my family, past and current. And I had the rare opportunity to fly in and fly some aerobatics in an A-4 many years ago, which were used as the aggressor aircraft in the era of the original Top Gun movie....which we watched again last night. My goodness ....how young cruise was back then. Looking forward to it. Unfortunately, my USN aviator father has been gone for years, but he lived it, not vicariously like most of us. My brother, who flew F-14s in the Navy saw it a couple of days ago. And a pilot friend gave it a thumbs up via email yesterday.

Hate on me if you must but I thought it was the campiest film put out in a long time. Hollywood politcal correctness abounds, from his diversified team of pilots to all the "forepersons" in the credits. The first 2-3 minutes was well produced but then the "acting" begins. Where does John Hamm go to get his reputation back? The constant dramatic music and script of profundities reminded me of a Lord of the Rings movie. I could go on but I'll stop.

If you want a totally logical movie that makes tactical and strategic sense watch "Band of Brothers" or cozy up with a non-fiction tome. On the other hand (OTOH), if you want to see some sierra hotel flying pony up some bucks and watch Mav and the gang do their stuff (tip of the hat to the real Navy fliers and knuckle busters that make it happen every day for real). I took the misses to the drive-in and bought some popcorn and I have to say there is no oil shortage because it sure wasn't butter. I'm going to take my grandson to see it at the I-max.

Two French fighter jets were scrambled to intercept an ITA Airways flight from New York’s JFK airport to Rome after both pilots fell asleep, according to a report that emerged Friday about an incident that took place over France on April 30. AirLive reported: A pilot triggered a terrorist alert over French airspace after falling asleep in the cockpit of a passenger jet for 10 minutes, it has emerged. The co-pilot was also sleeping, but was taking an authorised nap within the context of a “controlled rest” period. The captain of the jet was the only one at fault, having fallen asleep accidentally during this time.

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin railed against guns on Thursday, saying Republicans can’t be trusted and calling Sen. Mitch McConnell a “filthy liar” while branding the GOP as the party of insurrectionists and massacres. As the hosts of the liberal gabfest raged about gun control measures, including red flag laws following a spate of deadly mass shootings across the nation, Hostin viciously tore into conservatives and called for the banning of guns. Co-host Sara Haines pointed out that red flag laws in Florida have not hurt GOP candidates in that state who backed them following the Parkland school shooting. “I understand what you’re saying, Sarah, that you’re talking about Florida, the state,

In the wake of the deadly Uvalde school shooting that left 19 kids and two adults dead, the heated debate of whether to arm teachers or not has been a major topic between both parties. In the midst of all the gun control talk, Ohio may soon allow teachers to be armed in classrooms. HB 99, which passed by a 23-9 vote in the State Senate and a 56-34 vote in the State House, was fast-tracked through the legislature, allowing teachers and other school staff to carry guns on school premises requiring only 24 hours of training. It would mandate at least 18 hours of general training,

Jesus said in his Sermon on the Mount, in a series of statements commonly known as, “The Beatitudes,” “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Now that the majority of the camera lights and narrative-seeking journalists have left Uvalde, Texas, the community has the space to grieve–and they have been. But they are not alone and not without comfort, especially from our four-legged treasures. The subject of this week’s Feel-Good Friday. From The Oklahoman: A Lutheran church in Kingfisher sent a ministry dog and a crisis response team to comfort grieving families in Uvalde, Texas, after an elementary school shooting left 19 children and two teachers dead.

The funerals for those killed in the tragic school shooting that occurred in Uvalde, TX, have started to take place. That comes amidst the relentless politicization of the event by the left and the media–despite the fact that in such a moment, there’s typically nothing a family wants more than privacy. Yet, a “health reporter” from The Houston Chronicle (again, trying to politicize what happened), attempted to crash one memorial in order to take pictures. Fortunately, a group of bikers, who were there providing security, had other ideas. [Video] If you watch the video, you’ll see the reporter hassle the bikers, saying he’s “just trying to do” his job

It has become increasingly evident that members of the Border Patrol, specifically those on the elite BORTAC team, defied orders from Uvalde police and breached the classroom the shooter was in at Robb Elementary School in order to stop the attack. The local police appeared to believe the situation had turned from an active shooter to a "barricaded" subject despite 9-1-1 calls being made by children who were trapped inside the classroom with the shooter. If not for the Border Patrol agents, the shooter could have claimed more lives. Now, House Democrats on the Homeland Security Committee want to investigate the agents' role in killing the shooter.

Some of the groups involved in the case are Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights and the ACLU of Florida. “The Florida Supreme Court has long held that their state constitution protects the right to end a pregnancy,” said Nancy Northup, president of the pro-abortion Center for Reproductive Rights, in a statement this week. “That means even if Roe falls, abortion should remain protected in Florida, and this ban should be blocked.”
