During the urban unrest that followed the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in police custody in May, I told a friend from high school that I disapproved of the riots. “So do I,” he said. “But just so you know, if this had been happening when we were in high school, we’d be out there breaking things, too.”He reminded me of a story from when we were teenagers. It’s 2007. “Where’s Seth?” I ask, looking through the fridge for another Keystone Light.“He’s sleeping in his room. He has work tomorrow,” my friend Josh replies.Seth is our friend. Why are men always trying to top each other - whether doing outrageous things, like these young men, or later trying to out-anecdote others on internet forums, a la Walter Mitty? Or Joe Biden. One wonders what made them so insecure?

“But just so you know, if this had been happening when we were in high school, we’d be out there breaking things, too.” Not so fast Bob. Apparently you were wired a bit differently from the guys I used to run with in our younger years. No angels here - far from it. But burning down our city, looting & sucker punching folks was never in our wheelhouse, even during our worse moments. Not even remotely close. Family instability, challenges or just having a bad day are not excuses, as you suggest. Dr. Ben Carson, Candace Owens, Thomas Sowell, & countless others came from little of nothing to become who they are today. Spare us the progressive perpetual victim mentality, and how your believe it justifies criminal behavior. It doesn't.

What a horrible way to grow up. Somehow I missed it and I'm thinking that two good parents and sensible choices in friends had a lot to do with it.

Fewer young people have real friends . . . Not seeing it. The young man in my house has friendships akin to battle buddies. Those guys would do anything for each other. And it's a pretty far-reaching group that's very fluid in its subsets. They're a melange of personality types and physical builds. Always seems to be two or three together out of a ring of twenty. He was home for the long weekend and slept on two different couches twice rather than drink and drive.

Supreme Court law clerks are being asked to turn over their personal cell phone records and sign affidavits as the search ramps up for the person who leaked the draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade.Language of the affidavits and what the scope of the cell phone search will be are not yet clear, sources familiar with the efforts told CNN – but the potential of handing over their personal devices have clerks exploring their options, including hiring outside counsel. Considering the crack down on law clerks, it's likely the court has not yet been successful in determining the source of the breach.

Another day, another blood-soaked weekend in Lori Lightfoot’s Chiraq, a city that seems intent on proving how far America has fallen and that American cities can be just as violent as Fallujah, Najaf, or Baghdad during the height of the Iraq insurgency.Such was the case this weekend; as the nation focused on the horror show in Uvalde, where police sat by and watched as 19 students and 2 teachers were murdered over the course of an hour inside an elementary school, far more people were shot in what was just a normal weekend in Lori Lightfoot’s Chiraq. There, as Breitbart noted, the Memorial Day weekend got off to

It's the political deep dive du jour that's going viral. NBC News is out with a lengthy piece outlining the struggles of the Biden White House. You can read the whole thing here. It strikes me as something of an effort to spin things for the failing administration, while simultaneously delivering a devastating assessment. Let's walk through it together, passage by passage:(1) The story begins by relaying that the president is "rattled by" his low approval numbers and is casting about for a better messaging strategy. Messaging is not his problem, however. His problem is results.

President Joe Biden is meeting with Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell at the White House Tuesday for the first time since taking office in January 2021. The meeting comes as inflation wreaks havoc on American families with prices on essential items continuing to skyrocket. (Tweet) The meeting marks a new strategy by the White House to focus on the issue, with allies in the media deflecting blame from Democrats. Former Hillary Clinton campaign attorney Michael Sussmann has been found not guilty of lying to the FBI in the first trial of Special Counsel John Durham's investigation into what sparked the investigation of Donald Trump's 2016 presidential campaign. It's one of just two indictments in Durham's three-year inquiry into the origins of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's probe, spurred by allegations that Trump's 2016 campaign got help from Russia. After just six hours of deliberation, a jury rejected Durham's claim that Sussmann lied to federal agents when sending them dirt on Trump's alleged links to Moscow.

Washington—A federal jury on Tuesday found former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussmann not guilty of lying to the FBI — finding special counsel John Durham did not prove his case beyond a reasonable doubt. The verdict by a jury in heavily Democratic-leaning DC, came midway through the second day of deliberations following a two-week trial on a single count of making false statements to a federal agent. Durham’s prosecution team unsuccessfully sought to prove that Sussmann deliberately lied to then-FBI general counsel James Baker by claiming not to be acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign and an internet executive when the two met in 2016.

George Will’s recent column reviewing the first 500 days of the Biden presidency includes praise for the president’s “deft diplomacy” and “stunning achievement” in the administration’s response to Ukraine. According to Will, Biden’s diplomacy is substantially responsible for nudging Germany to play a larger geopolitical role and persuading Finland to join NATO, thus extending the alliance’s reach to more than 800 miles of Russia’s border. Biden, he writes, has revised the concept of the West, but Will writes that Biden’s achievement will not earn him political dividends because “what Americans usually want in foreign policy is as little as possible.”

The San Diego diocese said McElroy will be installed by Pope Francis on August 27 at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Winning a cardinal's hat doesn't outrank the archbishop's mitre,
