An off-duty Texas Border Patrol agent rushed into Robb Elementary School with a shotgun and rescued several-dozen children and his daughter during a mass shooting on Tuesday after his wife sent him a text message.
Jacob Albarado (snip) was getting a haircut when he received a message from his wife, a fourth-grade teacher at the school in Uvalde.
“There’s an active shooter,” she wrote, according to Albarado. “Help,” she sent, adding: “I love you.”
Albarado said he got out of his seat and took the barber’s shotgun to the school. His daughter, who went to the school, was locked inside a bathroom while his wife hid underneath desks with students,

He got his own kid out, and the other kids in the same class room tagged along.
I don't call this heroic, I call this self interest. If he was heroic,he'd have gone against the shooter....but that was dangerous.

The rescuer arrived on the scene from a barbershop however far away while the fully trained professional cops cowered in fear behind buses, leaving an untrained psychopathic 18-year-old did whatever he pleased. No wonder we couldn't defeat an army of goat herders and opium farmers in Afghanistan.

What would a fly on the wall see our locals do in a similar situation. Talk is cheap.

FTA:
Albarado said he entered the school where his daughter was located before “clearing all the classes in her wing,” he told the paper. “I did what I was trained to do,” Albarado added.
He recalled that two police officers with guns drawn provided cover to him while two others led dozens of children and teachers to the sidewalk.
“Clearing all the classes in her wing” - not just her room - doesn’t sound like “kids tagging along”...

Lots of people have lots of ideas, but we really don't know what we would do faced with the same situation.

With universal background checks in place, the barber and cop can now be charged with felonies for doing
an illegal transfer of a firearm. That's what the background check is all about along with creating a registry
of all guns.

No doubt he did a good thing, perhaps he even made a big difference, prevented the killer from getting to other kids, but he apparently made no direct effort to stop the killing in the classroom As far as how heroic this was....there are reports (accurate?) that one unarmed, untrained mother got her daughter out. Why didn't the on duty officers get the other kids out if they were too afraid to assault the classroom with the killer? Why was this left to an off duty BP officer and a random mother, while the police out front prevented other parents from trying this?
Aerial views show multiple separated wings in the school without internal connections to at least several of them, getting kids out of classrooms in other wings, or even classrooms the same wing, is certainly a very good thing to do, move any innocents away that you can. Why weren't the on duty officers doing this?
Still, the heart of the matter was that the shooter was in a room with 20+ people, unless they had certain evidence that there was nobody left alive in that room, the way to save lives is to enter, and shoot the killer as soon as possible. This was eventually done. The question remains, how many additional lives were lost because they waited and waited?

Some food for thought: for the same $44 billion the USA is sending to Ukraine, it could pay and equip five or six full-time, off-duty LEOs to stand guard in every elementary and secondary school in the USA.
The problem is not the lack of gun laws, or their inefficiency, because perps will always get guns. The problem is not doing enough to deter them. There's a reason they attack large groups in gun-free zones: we have yet to hear of a mass-shooter attacking a police station, for example. The shooter at Fort Hood some years ago did attack his fellow soldiers...but he knew none of them were armed at the time.

Re #8, yes, but we need to remember that the Dems are all about "defunding the police"....which means fewer officers, more officers who are poorly trained, with less equipment, and fewer skills needed to save lives.
THAT is what the Dems are ALL ABOUT. MORE insecurity, more death, 'defund the police' is the last thing we need.
