If you can’t beat them — Toss them. The Michigan Bureau of Elections, a corrupt group that allowed the 2020 state election to be stolen by hundreds of ballot traffickers and tens of thousands of illegal ballots, disqualified the two leading Republican candidates for the upcoming gubernatorial election.Former Detroit police Chief James Craig and billionaire businessman Perry Johnson were knocked out of the race today by the leftist election group. The Michigan Bureau of Elections claims they do not have enough legitimate signatures on their petitions to enter the race.

I'm sure every Democrat candidate was certified. Even those whose petitions were page after page of "X. Homeless, Park Bench, Somewhere, Michigan, phone 800-OBAMA-PH."

Michigan is a classic example of what can happen when a cabal of progressives oversee election processes.
They certainly weren't very interested in checking for valid signatures on Michigan absentee/mail-in ballot return documents in 2020, which is required by law.

At least the democrats USED to hide their skulduggery. Now they don't care who sees it because they must think nobody can stop it. And they're probably right.
This is banana republic territory.

Obama style electoral hi-jinks. Get your competitor thrown out of the race.
Better check to see what loyalties the firm collecting the signatures really has. And what penalties can be applied.

Justa another reason why state governments should not control primary elections. Candidate nomination is clearly the business of the party, not the state. Maybe a return to those smoke-filled rooms is appropriate. Ballot access laws also need revision to allow further choice of small party and independent candidates.

These shenanigans have only just begun it will get worse. Perhaps as a nation, we will find the strength and courage to stop this, BUT I am not going to hold my breath.

Well, why not? Who is going to call them on it? Who is going to stop them? They were successful in 2020, so why change horses in midstream?

Why do these candidates not have enough legitimate signatures to run for office? I am confused. They know the rules. Why did they not comply with them?
Someone help me understand, please. Thanks!

These tossed candidates probably had more than the requisite number of valid signatures. Most candidates screen for invalid signatures and have a safety buffer of up to 20% over the required signatures.

#17 Typically the canvassers collect an extra 20%, just in case some have moved and not updated their addresses, etc. You get a bunch of Democrats who know that and get a bunch of volunteers to sign the petitions with intentionally inaccurate data... Since they know the standard 20% overage, all they need to do is shoot for 20%. In a typical election, you can usually get at least half of the rejected signatures reinstated by finding the correct addresses or having people verify their signatures.

I've fought these battles. I've won, I've lost. I've had an opposing campaign spend $40K trying to win by challenging signatures because there was no way they were going to win in the primary. I've spent countless hours pouring over petitions and voter registration databases one line at a time. Side note: for fun the first address I looked up when I got the NY Database was my own, (before I escaped that state). I found two women, registered Democrats, who had voted by mail-in ballot in every previous election in the last 8 years. I had never heard of them so I searched and found that they lived in CANADA. I notified the election board who did NOTHING.
