The specifics are unimportant. You likely have read in the press that the United States has an unparalleled number of mass shootings due to our “lax” gun control laws. Such assertions are rarely challenged, but in fact they are untrue. I haven’t seen more recent numbers, but I am sure little has changed since this 2019 post. For God's sake, Mister President, don't turn this tragedy into cheap political capital.
I just watched President Joe Biden take a stab at playing the role of America's "mourner in chief," a role his Democratic predecessor, Bill Clinton, managed quite well. That may, in fact, have been the only thing Clinton did that actually helped the country. For all his many failings, Clinton knew the importance of helping people cope with tragedy.
Unfortunately, Joe Biden didn't crib this page from Bill Clinton's playbook. He made it partisan fairly quickly, blaming the tragedy on the "gun lobby" and "gun manufacturers."
Yet he started out well.

Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke disrupted Governor Greg Abbott’s press conference with to update the public on yesterday’s school shooting. O’Rourke is one of the breed of politicians — politicians without a conscience and with no thought other than themselves — that finds the moment of unspeakable tragedy a fit moment to undertake histrionic displays and hysterical lectures promoting their favored causes. President Joe Biden has been lecturing white Americans about hate again. On May 15, the day after an 18-year-old white supremacist massacred ten black shoppers in a Buffalo supermarket, Biden called on Americans to “address the hate that remains a stain” on the country’s soul. Those stained by hate were not named by race, but the reference was clear.

Apparently, being illegally present in the U.S. is now a "right" rather than a criminal act, and not even a "privilege" when done legally. For some 60,000 would-be illegal border-crossers amassed at the U.S. border, it's now a "right."
This is why we're seeing would-be illegal border-crossers now holding protests in cities such as Tijuana as a judge's order on Title 42 forces the Border Patrol to turn back tens of thousands of unvetted entries into the States. A friend told me yesterday he voted for Biden because he was tired of Trump’s “drama.” He said he “didn’t vote for Jared Kushner or Ivanka” and didn’t like them “hanging around” the White House.

My buddy considers himself a “non-Trumping, Democrat-hating conservative.” I guess his “non-Trumping” bias trumped (heh-heh) his hatred of Democrats.

My friend also doesn’t like the far-left judge in the Bronx who has a habit of releasing violent criminals from jail. He lives nearby.

Donald J. Trump was the best POTUS in my very long lifetime. His policies were effective, making America prosperous, energy independent, and lowering minority unemployment to record low levels. Everything he did, with the possible exception of the COVID lockdown, was quintessentially Trump; competent, encouraging, and salutary for America and her people. We were blessed to have him in the White House.
Although many Americans cringed, we nonetheless put up with Trump’s coarseness and his inflated ego because he gave America back to the people.
House speaker Nancy Pelosi questioned whether Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone was holding a double standard for banning her from Communion for her position on abortion while keeping quiet about Republicans who support the death penalty.

Multiple outlets are reporting that a Border Patrol agent part of a special unit rushed in to Robb Elementary School on Tuesday, May 24, to shoot and kill the 18-year-old shooter that killed 19 children and two teachers. That same special unit has recently been accused of using violent tactics and committing human rights violations.
The Border Patrol agent reportedly entered the school without waiting for backup and shot and killed the gunman, Salvador Ramos, AP reported, and he was injured in the process. U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz confirmed that agents in the area responded to the shooting on Twitter.

One minute, Jamil Jutha was driving his 2021 Tesla Model Y through North Vancouver.
The next, he was battling to escape its smoke-filled interior.
The incident took place Friday when the eight-month-old vehicle suddenly shut down, cutting power to all of its electronic parts, according to CTV News.
“The doors wouldn’t open. The windows wouldn’t go down,” Jutha said.
Smoke began to fill the interior. Although Teslas have a mechanical release for emergencies, Jutha said it was not easy to use, particularly amid the panic of a potentially life-threatening incident.
Beto O’Rourke, a democratic candidate for Texas governor, approached the stage during Gov. Greg Abbott’s news conference Wednesday, confronting him over the Robb Elementary School shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead. O’Rourke told Abbott the shooting was “totally predictable” and that he was “doing nothing.”
O’Rourke was shouted down by several of the officials on stage with one calling him a "sick son of a B----" as he was escorted out by police.
