A California man who stormed the US Capitol, traipsed through Speaker Nancy Pelosi's office, and sat in the Senate chair of then-Vice President Mike Pence has pleaded guilty to a federal charge in the riot. Christian Secor, 23, of Costa Mesa, entered the guilty plea on Thursday in a Washington DC court, admitting to obstructing an official proceeding during the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol.Under sentencing guidelines, Secor will likely face 21 to 27 months in federal prison when he is sentenced in October, though the court is not bound by the guidelines and could technically impose up to 20 years.

Can I assume when all is said and done they will turn their focus against the BLM thugs that burned down businesses, homes, other buildings, caused billions $ in damage and actually murdered people? s/o
Jan. 6th was a bad idea. A riot that got out of hand and people should be held accountable. That also includes ALL people who participate in other riots that result in chaos. Have a problem understanding why a rioter who actually did not cause damage or personal harm is treated more harshly than someone who has a rap sheet which includes attempted murder, stolen items, burglary, theft, battery, rape and on and on is out and about walking the streets ready to reoffend.

Seems a bit harsh. Of course, interrupting the deal making amongst our Princes and Princesses while they are destroying America is pretty serious I guess....

20 years for sitting in Nancy Pelousy's chair? Why are they so afraid of the American people? I think they know that we are on to them.

#3, They may know we are onto them, but they also know the best defense is a strong offense and they are going all out to show the American people what happens to them if they dare to disobey this administration. This is a show trial alright with the intent to warn others to never protest against the democrat party or if you do you will suffer cruel and inhumane treatment. That this can happen in this country is an abomination. It has uncovered the complete cowardice of the Republican political class. They have been worthless. The spineless fools have not done anything to insist these men are treated humanely.
If I remember correctly in Seattle or Portland the “mostly peaceful protesters” declared a portion of the city an autonomous zone, created their own government and carried weapons to enforce their “laws”. Is that not insurrection? Note also, that was after they burned businesses and government buildings! Where was justice there?
If we have learned anything from the J6th is that if you are a conservative you have no right to protest. What was a peaceful protest was turned into a riot by those who infiltrated the crowd. Nancy sent in her goons and they literally got away with murder. That, my friends, is the real travesty that day. Two women were killed by that day, one shot without warning needlessly by a Capitol Police Officer and the other beat to death on the streets by a female law enforcement officer. Where is the outrage for those crimes?

Twenty years? Over prosecution. For that much time he should have crapped in Nervous Nancy’s chair.

Any rioting that day was done by a small group and instigated by the FBI operatives. Most of the protesters were never involved. They have been throwing conservatives in jail for over a year with no bail and put in horrible living conditions for mostly minor crimes while completely neglecting the leftist groups that have been burning down cities, looting, beating and robbing people. This is a disgusting example of injustice by the deep state.

Stop with the sensationalist rhetoric. "Stormed" means that he brought down the walls with a catapault or cannon fire and burned it to the ground. Walking through Queen Nancy's office cost him his freedom. Does anybody see an elaborate setup here? An abuse of power and the Constitution? Mike Pence will never sit in that chair again so give it to the guy.

The mentality which threatens twenty years for such a 'crime' is a far bigger threat to the wellbeing of the Republic than anything this young man might have done.

Extremely excessive punishment is simply a way for totalitarian regimes to keep the people in check and afraid to speak out. It also reflects union the feckless gutless republicans who for the most part are mere observers.

Disgusting! Republicans, why aren't we hearing anything from you? I guess it's a crime now to expect elected people to do their jobs. There were plenty of questions about the integrity of the election that the certification should have been stopped. That's all these people were asking. In fact biden even said that the biggest fraud has been set in motion for the election. Press ignored that statement.

J6 was no riot. Did people do some stupid things?
Yes.
But most of the damage seems to have been caused by FBI infiltrators. The only deaths were caused by DC Police. People were invited into the capitol with open doors and smiling cops, then ambushed. There was no National Guard presence, despite offers being made.
Purely a setup to distract from the Uniparty shoving through fraudulent election results before they could be properly verified.
Everyone involved in Congress and the DC Police, as well as those who BOUGHT the mules and underlings, should hang for treason.

Our awareness of the Deep State made the presidency of Donald Trump possible. But it led to 2000 Mules and Obiden, which then made January 6 reprimands like this inevitable. America has been overrun by Marxists. We should have known better than trying to resist. MAGA.

Very few people are aware of the persecution of January 6th participants and have only a hazy biased view of what happened that day and that includes sympathizers like me. Our media droned on about George Floyd and ignored these poor people. What is the truth? Who, exactly, are these people? Did they hurt anyone? Destroy property? Where are they today? If in jail, why? Why are the offices and rooms of the Capitol more sacrosanct than city streets, police department precinct offices, businesses and churches?

Meanwhile, the thugs who laid siege to the White House and burned St. John’s church are living well on payoffs from BLM and Antifa.

I am sick and tired of posters here and conservative talking heads who open up their discussions about Jan 6 with "people must be held accountable". Really? You don't say? Has any Dem been held accountable for anything? How about the BLM and Antifa rioters? They're still protesting in front of the homes and in the neighborhoods of the Supreme Court justices even though there is a state law in Virginia that makes this protesting illegal and yet, the R Governor of Virginia, in spite of all his talk, has done nothing and the same for his Attorney General. Falling back on it's really a federal issue is a poor excuse to not take action at the state level.

Me, too, #15. This mentality is why conservatives are always on the defensive, because they accept the left’s premises. A protest in response to a massively stolen federal election is NOT a “bad idea.” It is necessary, if we are to remain a free republic, and it is our guaranteed right under The Constitution of the United States. That it turned into anything besides that, is not the fault of the protestors, but a deliberate attempt by the Deep State to frame any objection to their crime as a criminal offense.
And, as a side note, I hope the protestor in question deloused himself after sitting in Plastic Man’s chair.

Why would anyone plead guilty to anything beyond possibly trespassing? I guess the torture chambers that they live in, ILLEGALLY, must explain it.
How is this possible in the USA?

Before we get all outraged up think about what has actually happened here. I am willing to bet that almost everyone on these comments would have done exactly what this poor guy has done by accepting the plea.
First the 20 years is a ridiculous headline attention grabber. He was never in any real danger of more than a minimum sentence.
Second, they had him dead to rights, on film acting stupid. We can argue the proper charge but in the end he was gonna get found guilty. Maybe, after a couple more yeras of legal battles he could have pleaded down to a misdemeanor trespassing but the key words here are after a couple of years.
His legal cost have bankrupted him, his future is already in the crapper for the next many years due to this. His lawyers will be hounding him longer than student loans for a PhD in Political Science would.
He has been in solitary confinement for over a year, with no family visits, no socialization limited access to a lawyer and some of the worst food you can possiby imagine, guarded by political hacks who believe that he is less than human and who have no fear of any retribution no matter how badly they treat him.
The deal stops the pain. He will get 2 years, he has already served 16 months, he will be moved out of the DC hole he is now in and into a realtively luxurious county prison with access to the amenities etc. He will no longer be in isolation and he will be out in 6 months.
This deal stops the pain. I doubt anyone here would turn it down. It is very clear that in the case of Jan 6 political prisoners the process is the punishment. Even if you win your life is totally destroyed, you are left bankrupt and destitute, your family gets to go along for the ride. The purpose is not to punish a real crime, conviction is meaningless to the administration, the goal is to intimidate anyone else from ever thinking about going up against the political machine. And they are getting very good at it.
