Ukraine reports that it has killed about 26,000 invading Russian soldiers. Ukraine’s reports of Russian losses – unlike Russia’s own reports – have been fairly reliable, say observers, though NATO estimates a somewhat lower number. As for Ukraine’s own dead, they appear to be significantly fewer than Russia’s even after including the civilians that Russia has murdered. Ukraine’s figures are not inconsistent with a report from the U.K. that over one-fourth of Russia’s 150,000-man army attacking Ukraine, amounting to perhaps 40,000, has been rendered “combat ineffective.” That means they’re dead or wounded badly enough that they can’t fight.

Reply #3: If you "doubt everything you read/hear about this situation" then you must believe nothing at all about it. So why do you even bother to read about it if you've already decided not to believe what you read? I think what you're really saying is that you "doubt everything you read/hear about this situation" to the extent -- and only to the extent -- it is contrary to your preconceived notions and narratives.

I heard back from one of my elderly scientist friends in Odessa. She and her family are OK, so far, and one son is in the territorial guard, and his family has made it to Hungary to wait out the war. She is optimistic that Ukraine will eventually win, but saddened at all the people being killed unnecessarily. She asked me to visit after the war it over. I wonder if that will be possible any time soon? These numbers match what many foreign observers have reported pretty well. And Germany is sending some self propelled howitzers, artillery that can drive to where it needs to be on tracks, but again, not a tank. Long range guns up to 20-22 miles with normal ammo, and with special long range shells, up to 29 miles. Very modern, capable artillery.

Critical thinking - not being gullible about information -especially if it comes from unknown sources- is more important than ever. “Believing” is not a healthy state of mind. I think we all like Glenn but where does he get these numbers? Do the suppliers of the numbers have an agenda? And more important, even if they’re true and Russia is losing- what does that mean? Tactical nukes used by a desperate Putin? Regime change? And what are the implications that flow from that? No energy for europe? No fertilizer? Food shortages? The rah rah “let’s beat the Russians” drum may be a pyrrhic “victory”. This war seems to be a losing proposition for Americans no matter what the outcome. Biden and whoever pulls his strings seem to really really want a war. It seems to be a a dim tactic concerning the elections since everything they do concerns the elections. So until someone shows me otherwise everything about this war screams injury to the American people. Even if bidet gets his way and gets regime change what is the guarantee we’ll like the new regime better. “Never underestimate Joe’s ability to f up everything he touches.”

the current whitehouse (P)resident...in order to have ANY thing positive to claim is leaking/proffering that it is HIM beating the Russians, shooting down their planes, sinking their ships, murdering their generals. Putin is being left in a position where his only available response is..."We are not fighting Ukraine peoples, we are fighting America, and ALL of America is now a target, anywhere on the globe, They sink our ships? We will sink theirs..They assassinate our Generals? We assassinate theirs". Smarter would be...Clam UP clown!, let Ukraine do the work, take the hits, claim whatever credit there may be, minimize discussing whatever help we may be giving them , at least in the media. We have gone from the practical Plausible Deniability to the very risky Plausible Credit Claiming, and not as part of a grand strategy or global chess game, simply for a one day news cycle spin. A cornered cat is bad enough...but a cornered Bear? Push this too far and there will be an ultimately pointless but very real and deadly retaliation. They already know that no matter what they do there will be long term sanctions anyway and the will to solidify them beyond where they are today is weak at best. They have for sale the energy that Europe HAS to have, europe WILL go wobbly, Biden who jumped in front of a parade to pretend he was leading it...will glance over his shoulder to find he is now marching alone, and looking ridiculous.

I agree the numbers are hard to believe, 26K in in 2.5 months is crazy but then look what we do know. I have seen believable videos of hundreds of tanks, hundreds of other trucks some planes, a few ships and what 9-10 generals? If you lose 9 generals you know they are also losing a lot of troops. Also Russia had to withdraw from the north and now has not advanced much in south and east. Obviously they are getting the shellac kicked out of them otherwise they would advance. I tend to believe the 26K. I do think Biden needs to stop any talk of expanding NATO and should be working to calm the situation now enflame it.

Some 63 million American babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade. Almost 40% were black even though blacks comprise only about 13% of the population. The black abortion rate is nearly five times the white rate. Justice Clarence Thomas observed in a Supreme Court case a few years ago that in New York City a black baby is more likely to be aborted than to be born. Altogether, that amounts to over 20 million dead black babies since Roe v. Wade. To put that number in perspective, the number of unarmed blacks killed by police in that period is a few dozen – amounting to something like

Politically motivated leaks are no big deal in today’s partisan politics. But something happened today that is utterly unprecedented. A draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked. To my knowledge, this has never happened before. The leak was obviously by either one of the three Justices in the liberal wing of the Court, or one of their 10-12 clerks who have access to the internal deliberations of the Court. It was presumably for the purpose of ginning up a public outcry to pressure one or more of the majority justices to change his or her mind.

On Easter Sunday, I awoke with the thought that I would go to church, something I seldom do. Not just any church but the one where I grew up. Where the pastor of my youth was an intellectual and spiritual giant, and a very nice guy. Where my parents were members and volunteers for half a century. Where they still reside – their ashes dwell in the adjacent glen. So I looked up the church to find the time of Easter service. Their website was plastered graffiti-like with the phrase, “We are love” in translucent cursive so you could still see the words and pictures of the page.

Joe Biden is cognitively impaired. He gets confused as to where he is, who he is, and what he is. He forgets the names and circumstances around him. He refuses to keep to his teleprompter script, and refuses to recognize how much he should. Truculently and combatively, he blames reporters and calls them “stupid” – even friendly ones – for merely asking good questions to which he has no intelligible answers. If I didn’t despise Biden’s policies, personality, greed, girl-fondling, criminal son, ethics, dishonesty, hair plugs, and ladder-climbing “doctor” wife, I’d feel sorry for him. World War I was no picnic for the Germans. About two million German soldiers were killed and countless others were crippled. The Austro-Hungarian Empire on the side of the Germans lost another million and a half. The loss of life on the side of the Allies was similar, with about two million dead amongst France, UK, Italy and Romania, in that order. The American dead were a fraction of that, a little over 100,000. The Allied country suffering the greatest number of dead was Russia, where life has always been cheap. Two million Russians were killed, matching the combined total of the other Allies.

The world of woke is rife with incorrect assumptions about racial minorities. First is the assumption that racial minorities are criminals. That assumption is wrong. It’s true that a disproportionate amount of crime – especially the violent kind – is committed by racial minorities. That’s true even after normalizing the numbers for the increased poverty level of minorities. I suspect this is due to a familial breakdown caused by many complicated factors. But it’s certainly not true that minorities are all, or even generally, criminals. To the contrary, the great majority of minorities are law-abiding citizens.

We have to take Joe’s word for all this. Since she’s not a biologist, KBJ herself is unable to confirm that she’s a woman and it’s not clear whether she’s able to confirm that she’s black.

He promised to consider only black women. Only about 2% of American lawyers fall into that demographic. In overtly discriminating against the other 98%, Biden committed an obvious violation of the Civil Rights Act, but I rather doubt Biden’s Department of Labor will file suit. True to his promise, Biden found a black woman lawyer to nominate. Her name is Ketanji Brown Jackson. It was Biden who touted his nominee as “a black woman”
