World War I was no picnic for the Germans. About two million German soldiers were killed and countless others were crippled. The Austro-Hungarian Empire on the side of the Germans lost another million and a half.
The loss of life on the side of the Allies was similar, with about two million dead amongst France, UK, Italy and Romania, in that order. The American dead were a fraction of that, a little over 100,000.
The Allied country suffering the greatest number of dead was Russia, where life has always been cheap. Two million Russians were killed, matching the combined total of the other Allies.

The real risk is a lower standard of living for Americans, and further impoverishment. Too many Americans think it is free.

I just had a thought. How soon do you think some 'rat politician is going to come out and say...'you can't judge ALL communists by Putin.'

I think re-establishing the badly battered rule of law in this country should be our top priority .Wokenss is a far more deadly enemy of our children than Russian nukes.

It’s nice to read a glimmer of sanity. The US was willing to nuke millions because Russia planned to put missiles on our border. Now we/nato are trying to do that to them. And we’re surprised at the response?
The smiley face mentality might work in kindergarten and on cnn and in the woke Dim party. And it might work for the bidet family and others to loot Ukraine.
But elsewhere in the world there are dead serious men making dead serious plans. Maybe the US should try to get a little serious. A glance at the dim party leadership makes you doubt that is possible. No wonder they’re completely unserious in their ideas except in looting.

Very well thought out article. Putin invasion of the Ukraine is debacle, so far, the Ukrainians have fought them to a stalemate. I hear from a cousin in Europe that guerilla fighters in the countryside are causing extensive damage to Russia's supply lines and killing many soldiers too. There are also reports that Russian morale is even lower the pResident poopy-pants rating. Putin would be smart to get an assurance from Ukraine that they won't join NATO and end this disaster.

By the way, life is pretty cheap in NY (including rest homes), Seattle, Chicago and other places. Bidet alone killed 7 afghan children.

Our hope is that somewhere over there is a Russian Joe Biden just waiting to be installed.

#6 putin has got that assurance three times. Because of that he believes he is winning and is holding out for total victory.

I hear that the sanctions on Putin will make us like a Weimar Republic. The Moron knows exactly what he is doing.

Hopefully, Russia doesn't have a Hitler like Germany had.
How often has Russia resolved their problems at the point of a gun? Ukraine is another example in a long line of examples. The people running Russia have alot to account for. If there is any justice, they should all have a meeting with a Russian firing squad.

I have cognitive whiplash. Am I supposed to be afraid of Putin because he has nukes, and will use them unless we give him his way, or am I supposed to ignore the nukes because the Democrats and "woke" are a greater threat than Russian nukes ever will be?

I think this is kind of the idea.
Cease and desist, or the economic misery can continue indefinitly. Russians have no one but themselves to blame.

And why would I care if Russia "becomes the Weimar Republic"? Sorry, don't think this is a real thing, and don't care, even if it is.

From Tom Lehrer's lyrics about Germany =
We taught them a lesson in 1918, and they've hardly bothered us since then.

Let's think this through for a change.
The Weimar years were ones of constant turmoil in Germany, a slow-simmering civil war, complete with real violence, which eventually led to Nazi ascendency. It was more than inflation and wheelbarrows full of cash for bread.
The Russians are not known as good losers. The last Czar's downfall began after the Russian defeat by the Japanese in 1905. If Ukraine defeats the Russians there will be political and military repercussions, and they are likely to be revolutionary and violent as various interests gather forces to institute "reform", whether "democracy" or "neo-communism" to fill the vacuum left when Putin is deposed. And then what?
Do the former Warsaw Pact and Soviet Republics stand by, or do they jump in to get in some vengeful kicks themselves? And what if this civil war spills over into the NATO-member Baltic states, Poland or Romania? Does NATO respond under Article 5 and intervene/invade? To what lengths? On whose behalf...or taking them all on?
Beware of what you wish for...you may get it.
