In one of the most “wait, what?” moments of 2022, a top Democrat leader in the House has declared that the United States is currently at war. That’s not an exaggeration nor an uncharitable reading of the situation. Apparently, unbeknownst to the public at large, Congress and the White House have managed to enter into a war with Russia without going through any of the constitutional steps to do so.
Truly, nothing surprises me anymore. Perhaps having an 82-year-old as the House Majority Leader isn’t that good of an idea? I’d like to think that someone with more cognitive capacity would at least couch their words instead of just blurting

There is no one I’d less rather hear from than a ‘top Democrat leader’. We will criticize Biden for everything he richly deserves criticism for. Zip it.

War without public backing because the public doesn’t even know why or even that it’s happening. Grinding Ukraine to bits because we want to put weapons systems there and Russia says absolutely not. The Ukraine leaders are apparently ok with doing this because they are …beholden more to the US than to their own citizens? Or do the Ukrainian people think that they will come out the other side better off? I’d be interested to know the calculation.
It’s a war of mystery.

I'm just going to repost a previous comment I made. I have NOTHING else to offer.
A bunch of geriatric ret@rds are going to slow walk us in to a completely avoidable war. No winners, only losers and these fools will thump their chests while killing untold numbers of people. NOT them and their inbred kids of course!

Only Congress can declare war. Apparently, this one Democrat when ahead without the trouble of having anyone else vote. Hey, is that legal?

I left MD years ago because of High Taxes. He was part of the problem. At 82 his neurons have gone haywire. As an American, I don't owe any politician blind loyalty. Steny Hoyer it is time for you to put it to rest. Retire and do the country a favor.

If only Congress can declare war, what were Korea, Vietnam, etc. The last time congress declared war was December of 1941 when even I wasn't here. The contention that Quid Pro Joe is a wartime POTUS is as ridiculous as Slick Willie claiming he was a veteran because he'd been CIC. The $ 40 billion will end up in the hands of corrupt politicians and won't stop Russia. The only money I want spent is on my country, USA.

Salient observation by #7... It seems like the closest Congress has gotten to declaring war in recent conflicts was to give the President authority to wage war against somebody who had declared war on us (first with al Qaeda, then again with Saddam). Did they do that with the Taliban or ISIS? (I don't recall with any degree of confidence.)

As usual, Democrats don't wait for Congress to debate, to declare something that is explicitly ALL of Congress' business.
He just committed insurrection and treason.

I had a bit of enlightenment.
Come Januart, 2025, Trump will have been reelected, but we're up to where the Congress accepts the State electors:
Expect violent riots and attempts to kill Republicans. These will be "mostly peaceful" violent riots, typical of BLM and AntiFa. The Democrats will declare the situation needs research and clarification. They will refuse to accept a Trump, or even a DeSantis victory.
Then we'll see how a real insurrection with the backing of all DC turns out.
Lock and load, Patriots, the 'fun' is just beginning.

Biden desperately wants war so he can use war production act to control industry and commerce. Trump used during Covid for the void of America making ventilators and masks etc. Biden could use it to control anything they desire.

You mean Pedo Joe is at war with America. The real insurrection occurred on November 4,2020 and the coup was completed at noon January 6,2021. We have an illegal traitor president who is working to destroy this country in accordance with UN Agenda 2030. We are an nation occupied by enemies within both foreign and domestic. Where are the Green Beret Special Forces? It’s time to retake control.

Lets take a look at what defines "War".
1st off, it would require Americans taking enemy Fire. Where is that happening?
At the Mexican Border...and Biden is giving Aid/Comfort to that enemy.
In the Gulf states where Iran and their Yemen proxies are shelling installation where US troops are present...and Biden is negotiating/making payments to those enemies.
In Israel where US Troops and advisors are facing motor and rocket attacks from Hamas/Hezbollah/Fatah, and the PLO..and Biden/Dems are claiming the Palestinians have every tight to do so...that ANY retaliation is Escalation and an "Attack"(rather than a response)
In the streets...where murders/shootings, carjackings, muggings, home invasions, organized Looting has reached never before seen levels, where MORE Americans are killed every year than 20 years of Afghanistan...or the entire series of Gulf Wars. Biden and the dems want to castrate and neuter the police...release every arrested person immediately with no Bail/Bond paid. Release from prison all who were previously convicted.

Future historians writing an accurate account of this illegal, renegade administration might have to resort less to words than to Jonathan Swift's Yahoos' excretory disapproval, the foulest literal brickbats of all, gravity aided. Gulliver and I might be headed to Galt's Gulch before long. At least the idea is gaining some attraction.
