Fed Study: Stimulus Checks Worsened Inflation

Original Article

Posted By: ladydawgfan, 4/9/2022 7:23:02 PM

Four economists at the Federal Reserve say the high rate of inflation in the United States compared to the rest of the world is due to the COVID-19 stimulus checks given to Americans during the pandemic. The direct payments to American citizens enlarged the money supply enormously and overheated the economy. Larry Summers, the Harvard economist and former Treasury Secretary, has been warning about this almost since Joe Biden took his oath of office. Summers believes that massive government pandemic spending — including stimulus checks — has put too much cash into circulation while the pent-up demand from the pandemic isn’t catching up to supply. Supply chain bottlenecks don’t help.

Shocked! !Shocked! You mean blowing billions to “help” people didn’t really work? You know, I never went to college (my parents were broke) but I managed to build a successful business. I would say the clowns in DC are clueless but some of they know basic economics. They just want the crash to come after they have become wealthy and immune to the coming depression.

Take the jab or the boy gets it. That’s essentially the message the Cleveland Clinic is sending to the parents of 9-year-old Tanner Donaldson, who will soon need a kidney transplant. He was born with a rare birth defect, posterior urethral valves (PUV), a condition that caused irreversible kidney damage in utero and resulted in stage 4 chronic kidney disease (CKD). Dane Donaldson, Tanner’s father, told PJ Media that his son’s kidney function is currently between 15-20%, but his numbers have been ticking up lately, so they feel he is nearing the time when a transplant will be necessary. They’ve known since birth that Tanner would eventually need the transplant
The New Democratic Voter Outreach Strategy

The Democrats are enthusiastically embracing a new voter outreach strategy. It’s called “paid relational organizing,” and it involves paying activists to talk to their friends, family members, and neighbors to convince them that Joe Biden and the Democrats are exactly what the United States of America needs in these troubled times. As NROs Charles Cooke points out, this strategy may end up getting a lot of Republicans elected. Granted, I am not an expert in voter turnout. But my instinct is that the Democrats should not do this. In my experience, the last thing any normal human being wants is to be talked at enthusiastically about progressive politics

Jan. 6 was a reaction to what people thought was a stolen election. Patriots of every age and race showed up to listen to Trump speak. Then the mostly peaceful crowd walked to the Capitol. Yes, there was some rioting.

On Monday, President Biden held an outdoor ceremony on the White House lawn to talk about the trucking industry. In the course of speaking, he repeated his tall tale about having had a "commercial driver's license" (CDL) while he was a young senator and having driven tractor-trailers. At the 21:43 of his speech, Biden said, "I used to drive a truck; it's a long story[.]" And at the 24:51 mark of the speech, he proceeded to tell us the story. Basically, he said, while helping out his father, the used car salesman, he used to go up to Philadelphia to pick up tractors or entire rigs

Democrat leaders speak often of “democracy” in hallowed terms, but rarely, if ever, do they mention, let alone, praise a republican form of government. President Biden insists “the United States is committed to strengthening our democracy.” Speaker Pelosi commands the nation to serve as “a symbol of democracy to the world.” Leader Schumer calls for “systemic democracy reforms . . . to save our democracy.” Senator Sanders harangues, “democracy must win.” Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez perceives a “very real risk” that democracy will disappear. In reality, they use the term “democracy” as a cover for what is in fact authoritarian rule.

Donald Trump held a rally in North Carolina on Saturday night, but it wasn’t the normal theatrics and hilarity that the former president delivers that made the biggest impression. Rather, it was an endorsement that seems to have come out of nowhere, and I’ll go so far as to say it may be his worst ever (yes, worse than Morgan Ortega) — at least as a Republican politician. Honestly, I know some people take umbrage with anyone ever questioning Trump’s decision-making, but this is truly a head-scratching moment. I’m not sure offering endorsements to people based on them being on TV for a long time is the best strategy.

Not when the Republican Party consists of “vulgar” populists and “infantile” nationalists who loathe free trade, free speech, the U.S. military, and libertarians.

Last week Cook Political Report posted an analysis of the House midterm election which said “Both sides see the possibility of a Red Tsunami in 2022.” But the rest of the Cook piece argued that because of redistricting changes 2022 can’t possibly equal a tsunami like the one in 1994 when Republicans won 54 seats. There are simply not as many competitive seats in the House as there used to be. So the author ultimately predicted a more modest wave: Every metric we use to analyze the political environment — the president’s approval rating, the mood of the electorate, the enthusiasm gap — all point to huge gains
