Editor’s Note: The following was written under a pseudonym for fear of reprisals against the author’s ailing mother.
I write the following to share my deplorable experiences at Kaweah Delta Medical Center, a hospital in Visalia, Calif., and because I’m convinced most Americans have no clue of the fascistic, cruel, and inhumane policies still being enacted in the name of “Covid-19.”
My elderly mother is and has been immensely sick for quite some time. She is also suffering from dementia, especially when she gets hospitalized. That said, I am intentionally being vague concerning her condition, as I wouldn’t want the hospital to figure out who she
I believe the hospitals and nurses have come to love the luxury of not having to deal with families.
Who wants a pesky adult child making demands for competent care?
I have totally lost all respect for the medical profession, as a result of their response to covid.
Each doctor has to earn my respect one by one. I have 3 that I trust.
None of them will be in the ER if I have to go there. Other than a car wreck, severe chest pain or stroke, I can't imagine risking a trip to the ER.

Family members not being allowed to see severely ill COVID patients in the hospital has been a feature of the pandemic for two years now. There's nothing new here.
Butting your head up against hospital policy won't do you much good since it's usually mandated by the government.

Thank the Lord I live in Texas!
My nonagenarian Mom required emergency surgery, rehab and eventually hospice care before she passed. The only requirements to visit or stay overnight with her in any facility was wearing a mask in public spaces and temperature check upon entering the facilities.

My sister in law passed away from covid pneumonia at the age of 48 last September. She had some underlying conditions but even so the family and hospital refused her ivermectin. I believe the hospital killed her for the $180k payment for a covid death. When she was in the final day of life the hospital refused to allow her children and husband to see her (her youngest is 12) and this is in Texas. The chaplain had to sneak her youngest child in and afterwards was confronted by security guards.

If things get really tough here - food shortages, hyperinflation, riots - will Americans be willing partners to tyranny like 1930s Germans? Stories like this give me shudders.

Makes no difference where the hospital is located, hospitals and schools are in the same class. They answer to no one, they make up rules on their own, and there are no consequences for any behavior on the part of hospital personnel toward any person considered an outsider. Each place is run like a dictatorship. One with it's all about protecting children, and the other it's all about protecting patients and hospital personnel. Want to see what life is like in North Korea? Visit a hospital, or better yet, work in a hospital. A place where every nurse can come off like an SS officer in Nazi Germany even if one works there.

What we are witnessing at Kaweah Delta and other fascist facilities is a politics over medicine breakdown. These bureaucrats are putting policy ahead of treatment, family involvement is part of treatment. What this hospital is doing is actionable and they should be sued into bankruptcy. Kaweah Delta is a microcosm of what happened to our healthcare. Effected families need to unite and set up a 24/7 protest outside of the hospital and throw their lot together and hire a team of attorneys and sue the crap out of Kaweah Delta.

Making it a nightmare is the whole idea... Lowering the population is just another part of the plan.

I’m sure glad my parents left this earthly vale long before this. They both lived during the 1918 Influenza, but that was a more humane time.

I've often thought if you went to the ER with a huge knife sticking out of you someone would order an Xray to see what is causing the pain. I was in the ER with a serious Afib problem, and the Hospitalist Dr. (God help us) treatment was to give me a pill for cholesterol.

I have had three experiences being in two separate hospitals in under a year. I can tell you that the treatment and care I got from my local hospital was far superior to the big teaching hospital where I had to have my first cancer surgery. The surgeon was top notch, it was the post surgery care I have a problem with. Now my next surgery is going to be handled locally for which I am grateful.
Some medical personnel have gone over to the dark side and become bullies. That is very sad to see, let alone experience first hand like I did. Lucky for me too, my daughter is an experienced nurse and she has become my nurse advocate during my medical trials.

Why would you return to the same hospital after having such a horrific experience?

My son had three trips to the ER for epileptic seizures. For the first two trips, we told the docs what was going on and they held him for a while but released him without doing anything because they didn't see the seizure. Luckily, the last time, my son had two seizures and my wife recorded the second. THAT got action. And, same thing about masks, tests, and one person only for the length of time he was in the hospital.
Before that, my wife used to parrot the 'thank you essential workers' meme. She stopped after that.
