Some reporters are calling on President Biden to ignore Supreme Court decisions that they believe are politically motivated. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court temporarily reinstated a Trump-era that limits the power of the states to block energy projects that can potentially pollute rivers, streams and other waterways. In a split 5-4 decision, the justices overturned a lower court judge’s order to throw out the rule until the Biden administration can implement a new rule which is expected in spring 2023.

Philadelphians will have to wear masks inside public spaces again as the pandemic resurfaces in the city, where COVID-19 infections have spiked in recent weeks, city officials said Monday.
"Starting today, we're asking businesses to dig up those 'masks required' signs and start hanging them in your windows," Cheryl Bettigole, the city's health commissioner, said in a a news conference Monday afternoon. "Beginning Monday, April 18, our health inspectors will begin enforcing the mask mandate again," she added, noting that the city is allowing a week's grace period to get the word out.

The mayor of Mariupol, Ukraine, said Monday that more than 10,000 civilians have died during the Russian siege and subsequent occupation of the city.
Mayor Vadym Boychenko warned that the final civilian death toll could exceed 20,000 in a phone call with the Associated Press, and said that corpses were “carpeted through the streets.” Boychenko also claimed Russian forces had brought mobile crematoriums to the city.

Axios has a scoop on the new inflation number that’s scheduled to drop tomorrow and it’s bad.
They’re citing analysts from FactSet that expect the new number to be 8.4 percent, the highest inflation rate since December 1981. That’s up from the rate from last month, which was 7.9 percent.
Some of that will be reflecting the high gas prices that have since moderated somewhat. However, even without counting gas and food, the forecast is 6.6 percent, the highest since August 1982.
