Minneapolis man is accused of kidnapping and robbing a man, then lighting his unconscious accomplice on fire earlier this month.
Desmond Durelle Graham, 31, is charged with kidnapping, first-degree aggravated robbery, third-degree assault and financial transaction fraud.
Minneapolis police were called to the area of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue (snip) the suspects drove around Minneapolis using narcotics, until one of Graham’s accomplices became unconscious.
Graham allegedly tried to beat the accomplice awake in the vehicle, but after that didn’t work, went back to the abandoned gas station and lit the accomplice on fire.

A South Carolina mother had both arms amputated and her colon removed after she was mauled by two pit bulls and a mixed breed dog earlier this week.
Kyleen Waltman, 38, was savagely attacked by the pit bulls while she was out on a walk Monday morning, WYFF reported. (snip) A good Samaritan saw Waltman being mauled by the dogs and was able to scare the animals off by firing his gun into the air.

Victims of crime came face-to-face with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey at City Hall last week to confront him on his approach to public safety.
More than 20 crime victims from across the city urged Frey to show his support for police, evaluate his messaging, and declare the crime crisis a public safety emergency. (snip) More than 20 of the group’s members who are crime victims themselves spoke with Mayor Frey on Thursday afternoon at City Hall. One was a mother whose son was murdered in a shooting; another mother spoke whose son was shot in a carjacking.
Wicklund said Frey appeared “shaken and compassionate” while hearing their stories.

A Wisconsin judge has ordered Republican Assembly Speaker Robin Vos to produce deleted emails in response to an open records request filed by a liberal watchdog group seeking documents related to an investigation into the 2020 election. Dane County Circuit Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn on Thursday also ordered Vos to search his private email accounts and text messages for any relevant deleted messages. The case is one of three seeking records from Vos and the investigator he hired, former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman, who is leading a probe into the presidential election won by Joe Biden.

A St. Paul-based corporation encouraged its employees to donate money to a nonprofit that has bailed out countless violent criminals.
In an email to Alpha News, a spokesperson with Ecolab confirmed that the Ecolab Foundation provided a 50% match for employee donations to the Minnesota Freedom Fund. (snip) According to a screenshot provided to Alpha News, the Minnesota Freedom Fund was listed as a “featured charity” on the “Ecolab Giving Site” under a section titled “racial and social inequity.”

“Covid-19 cases straining rural clinics, hospitals, staff,” read the front-page headline. Vaccinate to protect yourselves, health officials urged.
But ask around Benson, stroll its three-block business district, and some would tell a different story: (snip) In one house is Reed Anfinson, publisher, editor, photographer and reporter for the Monitor-News. Most weeks, he writes every story on the paper’s front page. He wrote that story on clinics struggling with COVID-19.
