Several hundred Russian troops have been withdrawn from the Chernobyl nuclear facility in Ukraine after suffering from “acute radiation sickness” and are being treated in Belarus, according to reports. The Pentagon confirmed earlier that the Russian forces began to pull out from the defunct facility, which was taken on the first day of the invasion, after a pledge by the Kremlin to scale back its offensive. But an employee at the Public Council at the State Agency of Ukraine for Exclusion Zone management said the soldiers had fled while “irradiated” and bused to a medical facility in Gomel, Belarus, the Mirror reported. “Another batch of irradiated terrorists who seized the

Hmm. They were warned not to be stirring up dust in that area. Breathing that dust is bad news, even now.

I knew the area was an Exclusion Zone for all people to avoid because of the radiation so when the Russian's captured it I asked myself why would they even want to be near it? If they were near it they will be irradiated to some extent no matter who is reporting it.

I wonder how long the people of Russia can continue to watch as their sons are killed in battle and radiated because Putin decided to go to war. I suppose as long as this country can stand to watch Biden destroy us.

Um' no. You take daily tours of Chernobyl. Google it. Current radiation levels are running at 3-4 µSv. An 8 hour flight to Europe will give you an additional 24 µSv. Acute radiation syndrome requires at least 1 Gy, or 1,000,000 uSv.

Peasants in uniform, suffering the consequences of a world beyond their understanding. It reminds me of the Afghans who clung to US jets, thinking it would be just like hanging onto a bus or train. When Stalin liquidated the Soviet middle class, it was a blow to the national IQ from which the country still hasn't recovered. Further evidence of how communism destroys the soul of a nation.

I call BS on this one. Among other subplots, coverage of the war is bloated with Green propaganda. The phony threat of a nuclear "explosion" at the major operating plants -- now this. How convenient. On the other side of this war, and COVID, as the climate change regime gears up, the de-fossilizers can also exclude nuclear power from the equation. "Remember Ukraine!!" I simply chose to disbelieve this one until offered something better than mere assertions from "sources." Gee, I don't know. Perhaps the phenomenon was noted from the air by the Ukrainian "Angel of Death" ace pilot, or those 13 brave lads on the island (before their defiant death.)

RE #5, yes. I was in Kiev, and offered a tour, which I turned down. I checked and found that while the background count was OK...anything that disturbed the dust stirred up worse stuff and breathing that is very bad. No thanks. A tour bus staying on hard roads and keeping people on pavement is one thing. Tanks and trucks driving all over the place slinging dust is a whole different thing.

President Joe Biden’s deputies have announced they will lift the Title 42 barrier at the southern border on May 23, allowing a vast wave of wage-cutting, rent-spiking migrants into America’s job and housing markets. “We are increasing our capacity to process new arrivals, evaluate asylum requests,” said a statement from Alejandro Mayorkas, who heads Biden’s Department of Homeland Security and is trying to build an extra immigration system that operates alongside annual limits set by Congress. The formal announcement implies that the president will not block the border-opening plan by his deputies.

A record $31 million award to a mom and pop bakery that accused a liberal Ohio college of ruining its business with false accusations of racism has been upheld by a state appeals court. Gibson's Bakery, a 135-year-old family business near the campus of Oberlin College, was initially awarded more than $40 million in punitive and compensatory damages in the aftermath of a 2016 incident in which the owner's son confronted three black Oberlin students who were stealing wine from the store. Although the suspects were arrested and later admitted they were shoplifting, the episode touched off school-sanctioned protests and accusations of racism that crippled the store's business.

Back in 1967, the Reedy Creek Improvement District agreement was created to lure Disney to Florida. The agreement allows the district governmental powers to facilitate recreational projects and tourism. Florida's legislature felt that it would benefit the state if recreational organizations had the power to act as their own government in areas like property development, water control, public utilities, law enforcement, and fire protection. The mouse eagerly took the cheese, and today most of the land is owned by Walt Disney World. It's been a pretty sweet deal (snip) Now Florida legislators are threatening to pull those special privileges if Disney continues to strike at HB1557

They will reduce gasoline consumption by more than 220 billion gallons over the life of vehicles, compared with the Trump standards. They're expected to decrease carbon dioxide emissions—but not as much as some environmentalists want—and raise new vehicle prices
