Is the Constitution inherently racist? Brandon Hasbrouck says yes. In Boston University Law Review article “The Antiracist Constitution,” the Washington and Lee University professor alleges our nation’s founding document “serves white supremacy.” He aids his argument with George Floyd’s death, the Fugitive Slave Act, and the fact that Thomas Jefferson owned slaves. The professor points out a peculiarity: It is June 28, 1776. The Continental Congress orders that Thomas Jefferson’s draft of the Declaration of Independence “lie on the table.” … Jefferson, who enslaves hundreds of people, nonetheless includes an assertion that “all men are created equal.” Moving forward to fugitive slaves: It is September 18, 1850. Congress passes the Fugitive Slave Act…

Shows how smart you don't have to be to be a "law professor". So, is Hasbrouck saying all men are *not* created equal because Jefferson owned slave's? His entire argument is absolute nonsense, which means the Democrats would love to have him on the SCOTUS. Alas, he's black (sort of) but he's not a woman, so never mind.

Where in the Constitution does it say "Except for Black people"? The Constitution doesn't seem to be holding Asian, Indian, or Hispanic people back or from achieving anything. Maybe the problem isn't the Constitution, but is the big chip on many Black peoples shoulders.

Blaming the Constitution for racism turns a willful blind eye to the fact that it was the Constitution that ENDED slavery. Sort of like the women's movements that all pointed their wagging fingers at the Judeo-Christian world while completely ignoring the fact that it was the REST of the world that was still holding women down while Europe and America had given them the equal platform from which to spout their ignorance.

The collective genius of the founding fathers was that they were able to fashion a document acceptable to slave and non slave states, and implicitly contained the mechanisms to end the practice of slavery. It turned out to be messy and bloody, and might have not been that if Millard Fillmore had been more assertive, but the history is fascinating. I would like to see the law professor's draft of his proposed constitution. Would it have a preamble that said Black Lives Matter? Affirmative Action Forever?

I have great news for you Brandon, there are countries all over the globe that are not inflicted with our "racist" constitution. You can just pick one and go. It might be easier than fighting a pack of smelly deplorables willing to die for the constitution. As a matter of fact rumor has it Putin is putting the USSR band back together where they had a constitution that guaranteed food, housing, healthcare, jobs which I suspect would meet your approval. When the original line up first started touring they appealed greatly to some American minorities who decide to enjoy the utopia. Don't bother researching how that worked out for them I'm sure it was just peachy. And while you are choosing ignorance but in a scholarly way of course, please don't waste any time examining why the repressed minorities have it better here under our constitutional suppression than anywhere else on earth and we continue to be the destination of choice even from Africa. I'm sure there's nothing to it.

Brandon Hasbrouck is black so he thinks and views the world through a black lens. First, as bad as it was slavery was legal in most if not every country that practiced it. So the founders of our country were doing nothing illegal or immoral. Look at it through the 1776 lens. Then look at the countries in Africa where blacks sold their own people into slavery. Think about it, to every country in the world blacks were capturing and selling their own people into slavery. Why, because it was profitable. To this day slavery is practiced in Africa and to this day America has done more for blacks than any other country in the world, including Africa. And, the only reason this bigot can talk like this is because he's in America. He is trashing the only country that will allow him to speak like that. He has that right. Amazing, isn't it....

First, most people didn't own slaves. Second: The importation of enslaved Africans was outlawed by an act of Congress passed in 1807, and signed into law by President Thomas Jefferson. The law was rooted in an obscure passage in the U.S. Constitution, which had stipulated that importing enslaved people could be prohibited 25 years after the ratification of the Constitution. So, somehow that same Constitution helped outlaw the importation of slaves. What they should focus more on is the Compromise of 1877: The Compromise of 1877 was an off-the-record deal, struck between Republicans and Democrats, that determined the victor of the 1876 presidential election. It also marks the official end of the Reconstruction Era — the 12-year period after the Civil War, designed to help reunify the country after the crisis of secession. The Southerners, and Democrat Party, demanded the Federal troops be removed, and were more than willing to give up the Presidency, which also enabled them to install the Jim Crow laws. Maybe these professors should focus on the real issues, and the political party (Democrat) who has been affecting them. It wasn't just in the South either, as many Northern cities used laws and zoning to restrict African-Americans opportunities and ability to move around.

Chatter concerning the possible removal of President Joe Biden, 79, from the White House erupted online this weekend after the president on multiple occasions seemed to blurt out escalation talk regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, all in contrast with White House messaging. The Daily Wire highlighted that Biden’s seemingly off-the-cuff remarks had to quickly be addressed and walked-back by the administration. In one instance, Biden told a group of American troops in Poland that they were going to see the “backbone” and “guts” of the Ukrainian people “when you’re there,” suggesting the U.S. was putting boots on the ground in Ukraine, in contrast with White House statements and talking points.
