Russia may have suffered between 30,000 and 40,000 battlefield casualties in Ukraine, according to a senior Nato military officer. The military officer, speaking on condition of anonymity under ground rules set by Nato, added between 7,000 and 15,000 Russians had been killed since it invaded its neighbour on 24 February. The estimate of those killed is based on information from the Ukrainian government, indications from Russia, and open-source data, Associated Press reported. It is Nato’s first public estimate of Russian casualties since the beginning of the war. The US government has largely declined to provide public estimates of Russian or
Russia is fighting like it’s WWII.
Their tank tactics, in particular, don’t fit the reality of the modern battlefield.

Really? Maybe the Nato officer should count the Covid deaths in our military from the Covid shots.

"The pro-Kremlin tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda wrote Monday that 9,861 members of the Russian armed forces had been killed and another 16,153 had been injured, citing the Russian Ministry of Defense ..."
That's 26,014. Of course they claimed afterward to have been hacked, but how likely is that, given Vlad's overwhelming superiority in Cyber Warfare, eh?
According to the article, "Russia may have suffered between 30,000 and 40,000 battlefield casualties in Ukraine". 26K, 30K, same sort of ball park. So, no, I'm not going right away to "!!! UKRAINIAN PROPAGANDA !!!" But, hey, your mileage may vary.

Even if this is double the real number, and I have no idea if it is legit, or the real number is half.
But.....even if this is doubled....the Russians are getting hurt really badly, which means their tactics stink.
If this plays out over the long term, after the post war after action reviews to be even close to true, it will show that the Red Army of WW2 is well and truly gone and hasn't been reincarnated by the current leadership of Russia.
Hard to tell what is fact, what is fiction at this point. But even if exaggerated, bad news for Russia.

Re #4. The article actually says, "...based on information from the Ukrainian government, indications from Russia, and open-source data," this is not just from Ukraine.
Incomplete quotes, with the apparent intention to misinform isn't what I would expect from that poster.
Is it number correct? I don't know, but I am trying to seek the truth, listening to as many sources as possible, each with it's own 'axe to grind' and trying to estimate what is correct. Certainly it is impossible to accurately know right now. And I am sure that a heck of a lot of Ukrainians have been killed.
I have seen a large number of burned out Russian tanks, trucks and armored vehicles. Many/most of the folks in those died or were wounded, based on history of what happens when an armored vehicle is blown up and burned, so there are clearly large numbers of Russian casualties.
Are the mobile crematorium stories real or propaganda? I don't know, but it would keep Putin from shipping home lots of caskets, but if your son or brother or father just never comes back, and was in a unit deployed to Ukraine - people WILL KNOW.

I hate to be cynical but the number of Russian casualty estimates doubles every day, while Ukraine has only reported about 45 deaths after nearly 4 weeks of warfare.
