A former Google employee filed a class-action lawsuit in a San Jose, California, federal court Friday alleging systemic bias against black employees and a corporate culture preferring white males, Reuters reported. The lawsuit, filed by April Curley, says Google places black employees in lower-level jobs, pays them less, and denies them opportunities to grow at the company, Reuters reported. Specifically, Curley states black people make up only 4.4% of employees and about 3% of leadership, according to Reuters. Curley also said Alphabet Inc., the parent company of Google, required black people to show identification or else face questioning at the Mountain View, California campus, Reuters reported.

Could the real answer be that not many Blacks go into computer related majors in college? Of those that do go into computer related majors, how many want to work for Google / Meta or move to California? If there are no qualified Black candidates, they cannot be hired. As for showing ID, chances are that almost any person not flashing their company ID at any Silicon Valley company campus will be stopped and questioned by security. White people will show their ID and move on. Black people take any questions regarding ID personally. If the employees want to not be questioned they should wear their company ID like everyone else. They are not special.

It seems that once you learn to see everything through the lens of 'Race', then everything appears to be race related... As Poster #2 said, there are many reasons why they are under represented. My current company is trying to hire minorities for some senior computer related positions, and there aren't ANY applicants...

The systemic racism of the 2010 and on time frame is racist hate against white folks, and has an official US government approved name....Affirmative Action. That's just racism against white folks. Perhaps not ENOUGH racism against white folks, or (is it possible?) actual color blindness in hiring? That upsets the folks expecting huge amounts of racial preference in their favor.

I worked for a large telecommunications firm who did business with the feds. As such, AA training and hiring practices were mandatory. Finding qualified minorities was not easy and resulted in people being hired and promoted that were not qualified simply to fill quotas.

So Google requires photo ID for their own company but rallies against it when it comes to voting. If it’s racist to require a photo ID for a black person to vote, surely it’s racist to require one for a black person to enter their buildings.

If it can be proven that the black employees were qualified for a position and didn't get it because of their background ...then go for it...but...I'm getting sick and tired of the beating on your chest and crying foul each time you are passed up...any company will promote a hard worker with talent for the job...it's not a guarantee because you are black that you will be bumped up...and I would never hire a plumber that wasn't qualified to fix my pipes...so get over yourself...here's the question...can you do the job!!

Anybody who has ever tried to work with blacks in a technical environment is usually sorely disappointed. Even those who may have the ability have the usual cultural chip on their shoulders and are not team players. In my 45 year career I have met two that did not fit that pattern. I had to fire one who spent more time on the cell phone than on the computer and judging by his quality of work, that was probably a good thing. Google no doubt bought into the diversity hogwash and got burned.

First, and most importantly, virtually no one in the U.S. has got this right, including conservative outlets and pundits. Putin's a thug, but he's an excellent politician and a strong leader. And he's not crazy, as some seem to surmise. He is a cold, calculating, strategic thinker who has disciplined his mind and body for decades. He's a Russia first guy. Think Donald Trump minus all the hot air and Big Macs, and add a willingness to off his enemies. We promised Russia we would not expand NATO when the Soviet Union fell.

When lawyer Sarah Weddington stood up in the Supreme Court on Oct. 11, 1972, to present the pro-abortion argument in the case of Roe v. Wade, she was legalistically careful in the language she used to describe whom exactly an abortion aborted. She avoided normal human terms like "unborn child" or "baby" -- and, most importantly, "person." She preferred "fetus." Ha-Ha-Ha… Oh, the Biden administration is not happy with Poland. Not happy at all. Earlier this afternoon, Poland called Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s bluff, over the U.S. claims that Poland was going to send fighter jets into Ukraine. This followed Sunday’s announcement where Poland said the U.S. State Dept was lying. Earlier today, Poland said they would give the U.S. the planes if Blinken and Biden wanted to start World War III, but Poland wasn’t going to help the U.S. create a war with Russia. This put the U.S. in a ‘put up or shut up’ position.

A Boeing 737-800 passenger jet operated by China Eastern Airlines has crashed in rural China, presumably killing all 132 souls aboard. Video of the plane nosediving into the ground and the aftermath has emerged. As is expected with any video of this kind, viewer discretion is advised.
